Love that Thor but feel he’s so undersized.

Matt arrived today. He's an absolute delight, just wonderful to pick up and mess about with. Commiserations to those who missed out.

Surprised we haven't heard anything about this month's reveals yet, guessing it won't be any Marvel figures given last month's AoA double. Maybe Robin finally?

Didn't comic Jubilee had blue gloves? I don't really care...she looks good.

I thought the same, but looking back on it they were consistently yellow in panels until about issue #10, at which point they changed to blue.

Does Jubilee have single-jointed knees and elbows? Bummer, if so.

Got my Daredevil today.  I want to just call him the best, but I need some time to decide if he's actually better than Cap, brown suit Wolverine, Symbiote Spidey, Gambit, Superman Hush, and Knight Crusader Batman.  He's definitely on the same level as them.

That grouping is a good way to look at MAFEX's best work. I'd add Bane and Nightwing, too. I understand these are high-end figures, but any of those figures could be called the best in my collection. MAFEX has put together quite a resume.

Those fireworks effects with Jubilee are pathetic. I love the actual figures, but many Mafex accessories leave a lot to be desired.

Jubilee doesn't seem like their best effort. I'd like to replace my ML Jubilee and the softness of the MAFEX sculpts probably would lend itself well to my mostly animated display, but I'm not feeling it. One of the promos makes her coat look like it's a cut-up, yellow, sock. I'll see if we get a better product from Hasbro out of the X-Men '97 subline.

I'm excited for this Jubes. Similar to Rogue, I never liked either of the Legends so I'm glad to fill this hole in my X-Men shelf.

Small criticisms: just like Gambit, I think of Jubilee's coat as leather, or in her case, maybe some sort of plastic. I understand pleather breaks down, I presume there's no good shiny alternative. Either way, in hand, I might get used to the material like I did Gambit. I presume it's removable?

Wish she had a smiling head, and that the glasses were hinged, but I do like how they sculpted her hair over them.

Also the effects are strange. Wish they were multi-colored at least. A popcorn bucket and soda would have been incredible.

But everything else looks beautiful. I've never been disappointed with a single comic figure from them so far. Waiting for Nin-Nin on this one because the price is definitely a thumbs down.

Gambit's is removable, and he looks completely fine without it.  Jubilee's definitely looks removable as well.

Anybody have a comparison pic of the Mafex Captain America shield vs. a recent Marvel Legends one?

@hagop A guy on YouTube - MCUcollector, I think - did one recently.

@revox Thanks! I found his review but he doesn't compare the two shields, unfortunately.

Most of the ML reviewers are like this. Missing the obvious. MCUcollector especially. Head swaps? Сomparisons with other figures? How does the figure looks next to other characters from the same line or team?

Nah...

"How about I waste your time showing the same Vulcan mold articulation? No one's ever shown this before!"

Wow. I finally opened Daredevil today. I'm running out of superlatives for MAFEX.

I want to call this a figure I've been waiting for since childhood, but that isn't really true. Besides a bleak period between ~2005 and 2022, Matt's had some great figures. Both Spider-Man Classics DDs and last year's ML three-pack DD were excellent figures for their time. That three-pack DD is one of the 10 best Marvel Legends figures IMO. This is somehow a notable step above. I'm fully aware of recency bias and what I said on this very page, but this might be the best figure in my collection. He's comfortably in the top five.

The depth of shading is insane. Cameras don't pick up the subtleties you see in person. The articulation is the real star, though. Any pose you want him to hit, he can hit. I'm not someone who plays or poses figures around much after I get them. This is the kind of figure I want to keep within reach so I fiddle with it.

I have a few nitpicks, of course. The toe joints are ugly. I would've gladly traded one of the angry heads for an unmasked head. I haven't used the wired clubs because some folks online have had breakage. Those are the only negatives I can muster. This is a perfect figure. I can't recommend it highly enough if you can find it.

I don't know how anyone can argue that Medicom isn't by far the best toy company around. Nearly everything they release is gold. Right now, six of my top 11 figures for 2024 are MAFEX releases, including three of the top four. If DD holds his spot as my figure of the year, this will be the fourth straight year my favorite figure of the year was a MAFEX release.

I know this is a damn good figure because I was determined to keep NECA Elkhorn as my figure of the year. Alas.

If Medicom could get their paint QC in-check, they'd be top of the line. As it is, nearly every figure I've gotten from them has had issues in some regard. The easily flaked blue paint on the 185 Spider-Man, spotty paint on symbiote Spidey's logo, my Venom had a weird issue where one of the eyes on the open mouth head had visible cracks, Carnage's pelvis had paint peeling as I moved the legs...

It's far better than the breakages you used to see from early in the line, but for the price I'd really prefer for QC to be even tighter. I pose my toys a lot, so wear is inevitable, but I don't see nearly the same amount of issues from any other line I collect. Especially in this price range. Maybe I'm just unlucky.
