I was messing around with another Mafex yesterday (Knightfall Batman) and the butterfly joint kinda...came loose? Not sure exactly how to describe it - it feels like it slipped off of whatever it is attached to inside the torso or arm, and is now sort of rattling around in its place instead of moving smoothly. Has anyone ever had this happen? It doesn't ruin the look of the figure as its still more or less in position, but it's no longer solid and makes moving the joint a bit of a pain.
This recently happened with my Hush Batman while I was doing some work to pull his back cape wires deeper into the cowl. I could see it rattling around in there. It was a pain in the ass to try to get it to line back up with tweezers while I pushed the other half back in.
Then later, it came undone.
I'm out of town, but plan on trying to fix it again at some point. Luckily I don't think it really inhibits the figure too much, and I think you could take the back part out and it would work fine. But unfortunately, if it's one of those things where if it pops out it's always out... I'm not sure I could glue it back in place, because it takes to long to realign the pieces back together. You'd need a really slow to cure glue.
I had a stuck shoulder problem with Huntress. I pulled out the shoulder and cup piece for the butterfly, but couldn't secure the cup back in place. Her butterfly piece is soft plastic and seems like it has a slot that keys in with a tab in the shoulder. I don't know if all Mafex are like that. It was passable for use, but the butterfly would misalign if I posed her. HLJ sent me a new torso after I reached out to them.
I know my Bane's butterfly joint cover floats around a lot as I move the arm into various positions, and when it does I nudge it back in place over the joint. Haven't noticed that with Knight Crusader Batman yet, but maybe I just haven't noticed it.
My Cap and DD are both on the way now and should be with me by Tuesday! Can't wait to have them both!

Got my Daredevil today. I'm heavily biased towards the character so this isn't an objective opinion but my initial impression is that he's in my top 3 favorite Mafex figures. I want to just call him the best, but I need some time to decide if he's actually better than Cap, brown suit Wolverine, Symbiote Spidey, Gambit, Superman Hush, and Knight Crusader Batman. He's definitely on the same level as them. Just a gorgeous rendering of Daredevil in his classic costume in every way I could want aside from an unmasked head. I'd love a head with extra-long horns too, but of course I'm just being greedy with that wish.
And the Mafex QC is just SO good now. Five years ago who knows what issues you'd have or which joints would be too loose or squeaky-tight, but now those issues are almost entirely gone. Everything's just peachy with every joint. And WOW, love that paint job. The reds are gorgeous.
@tsi I prefer the vhs variant of the Legends Daredevil. that figure custs a nice clean silhouette with all of that black etching on his costume. Compare that to the Mafex and once again we run into this problem where the colors are barely offset from one another, its hard to make out the details in his face and torso and its just this solid red blob that leaves nothing to the imagination. if I were in a situation where I walked into a store and I saw both the VHS Daredevil and the Mafex and I had both of them hand in hand, I would not be the least bit sad of cutting the mafex figure loose.
See, I'm the exact opposite of this. I LOATHE the shading on the VHS Daredevil. To me, he looks like he's been changing the oil on a car while wearing his costume. I MUCH prefer this Mafex to that one, and even would take the 3 pack over it.
I have to agree. That VHS one has way too much shading. This Mafex one looks like the best DD fig to have released.

Compare Legends VHS Daredevil to the first and appearances of Daredevil's red costume shown below--and there are PLENTY of additional examples of the artists using shading liberally throughout the decades of drawing Daredevil. If 2-pack Daredevil looks like he's been changing oil, then the ones below must look like they've been dragged through a vat of it...
I'm ambivalent about shading versus no-shading, but the Mafex Daredevil's sculpt, paint, and articulation are absolutely wonderful. And both recent Legends Daredevils are wonderful too--just not as wonderful as the Mafex.
Correct, but that VHS one didn't look anything like those two examples and the shading kind of seemed all over the place.

But see, the difference is that these comic panels are two dimensional images, and this brings me to my main aversion to cell shading on figures anyway: shading in comics and animation is meant to make 2D images look more three dimensional. They convey shadows and light, to give the illusion of depth. Figures are three dimensional renditions of 2D images to begin with, so they don't need shading...that will naturally come from light sources as they actually have depth. To me, the images you posted look like he has a shadow on certain parts of his frame, which is what the artist is going for. On a 3D figure, it just looks like he's got caca on him, because the "shadow" is on it regardless of the angle or light source (and he will often have natural shadows on him as well as the painted ones because it's an actual 3D figure).
I'm not sh!tting on anyone who likes the shading, just stating that I personally think it looks terrible.
Cap arrived today so naturally, I had to get the lads together for a group shot.
