I have a strong preference for gold on all Iron Man figures.
That She-Hulk is a big gal. Maybe a bit too big for her 6'7.
That She-Hulk is great but man do I hate that they jammed her onto the card in a standard bubble. Bending her legs to make her fit is a sure way to have issues with warping down the road. I wish they would have given her a slightly bigger bubble, or moved her to a different wave.
I know, I know they should be opened, but the Retro cards are so great and nostalgic to me that I loathe opening them up unless I have a double that I picked up on the cheap.
Part of the benefit of pinless joints is the kind of plastic used to make them. The knees and elbows are made of hard ABS plastic, sandwiched by softer PVC of the limbs. The ABS won’t warp, or at least shouldn’t. I wouldn’t worry too much about the way she’s packaged. I’m currently more worried about why she’s still listed as June for me, while the rest of the wave has shown up or will show up in the next day or so.
She Hulk is a great figure. I love the colors and the head sculpt. Articulation is really smooth right out of the package, which isn't often true for marvel legends.
Great replacement for the previous She Hulk, which I was never a big fan of. Only improvements I'd want are butterfly joints (everything needs butterfly joints)
Looking at Iron Man model 20, I'm really disappointed by that waist cut. In general I hate straight across cuts like that, and it's particularly glaring here. If he had the inverse ab crunch they've been using lately he'd be perfect.
I got an unusual shipping notice from Amazon for She-Hulk. She departed this morning at 8:30 from NJ and delivery is expected today in CT. I'm not expecting that to happen. I have never seen a same day deliver, but I'm happy it's on the way because her delivery was still June 19, as of yesterday.
The size of the She-Hulk figure is kind of an optical illusion I've found - just did a side by side comparison with the last version of her and while her calves are bigger and the hair is HUGE, they're nearly the same size, and even the stuff that looks big (shoulder width, quads) are roughly the same. Even holding one figure in each hand it FEELS like the new one is massive. It's kinda weird, but doesn't detract from the figure, who I think is a 10/10 IMO. I wish she had more forward movement in the ab crunch for poses like leaning forward into a punch, but otherwise fantastic. Smoothest joints from a Legends figure in ages for me, too.
Nefaria and Whiplash will be here tomorrow and have I been sitting here with all three armors in my Amazon cart? Yes. Am I going to resist ordering them? Probably not.
Great pics, Norm.
I’ve got every figure in this wave except She-Hulk supposedly arriving tomorrow. Why Jen alone is lagging behind (expected June 9-July 9) confounds me. Still, excited for the rest.
@thor-el thanks!
re: She-Hulk delay, I think she might be the most popular figure in the assortment. Most in need of an update, etc. My guess is that’s part of the reason she’s not making it out as quickly.
Great shots, Norm! Pentagon Armor Iron Man looks superb. Hopefully my Amazon order will arrive soon. I doubled ordered this wave from Pulse and BBTS. But it seems like Amazon got these first.
I did just get Neo-Classic Iron Man from Amazon today. Love this retro packaging. Super nostalgic. He looks really cool in package.
@ninjak Are these acid free? My method right now is the acid free containers from Michaels which work alright, but these look to be more accessible easily. My main concern is whether they will make my whole slew of figures tacky feeling as plastic can become in storage over the years.
Nefaria and Gold IM are on the truck for delivery today, so of course I found the entire wave at Target this morning.
Whiplash is due for delivery tomorrow, so I just grabbed She Hulk since she still said June 19.
She’s great! Face and hair are both amazing and her joints are super smooth. Great size and weight to her.
Amazon just dropped off Mark 01 gold Iron Man and Count Nefaria. I honestly don't care that much about the Iron Man. I ordered it because I felt like it would be weird not to have, but I almost didn't. I have the armor in silver already - but got caught up in the fun of this retro wave and felt like it would be strange to skip just one.
Nefaria on the other hand is something I have wanted for a long, loooooong time. Classic Avengers foe, great iconic look. I have such fond memories of grabbing Avengers 166 at 7-eleven.
This figure makes me feel like that kid again. Super stoked to add him to the shelf. Even if he might have been better served on a slightly beefier body, I'm just happy to have him.
The whole wave sans Shulkie is now in my hands, and I LOVE them. All three Iron Man armors are fantastic, and the waist swivel cut on Pentagon Armor upsets me less than I thought it would. The new printing on the classic Tony head makes him look even more smarmy and inebriated than the first release of that head (which already looked incredibly smarmy and plenty inebriated), which gives me a big chuckle. Blackla—er, “Whiplash” is kinda perfect and the nostalgia for the 90s line is peak. I could go on and on, but they all just rule.
