The tiers are really there to get people to buy multiples.Β We all know there are collectors that will get 3 in order to display the 3 different versions.Β The tiers really shouldn't get the deciding factor of whether or not a collector backs it or not.Β If you feel the need to back a project because of a tier, then there is something wrong with the project.Β
I think it will fund, but it will come down to the wire.Β The main issue is there are so many people that won't back a project until after it is for sure to happen.Β It's like they don't care if it doesn't get made, but if it is certain to be made they don't want to miss out.Β Very odd behavior, but it explains the flood of backers after projects are funded.
i think this fan base is just too fickle, divided, and sending mixed messages... they lowered the price "still too much", they didn't include figures behind tiers "we don't want our figures locked behind pay walls" and now they're like "wasp and yellow jacket should have been tiers"
I just don't get it, one person told me today "if it was $300 and included 3 figure tiers, i'd have probably bought it"
I personally think tiers should only be used for "this figure we can't sell to retail, it's its only chance to get made" and they botched that up with last years non classic versions of Mephisto, Maddie, and Hellstorm...Β
i do wish instead of heads, we got like, Rick Jones and Jarvis, but i can see why the extra heads are important (to entice people to buy more than 1)
I think this has mostly been a matter of incentive for people.Β I don't like this version of Giant Man & I don't have room for a 24" figure as I already have Galactus that takes up a lot of space.Β Β There's zero reason for me to back this.Β I do like Wasp a lot more than Giant Man though & they are characters linked together.... I'd love to have her asymmetrical blue/white 80s costume or her insectoid 90s version for 2 different Avengers displays -- neither of those Wasp versions are likely to ever see retail specially since he has issues peg warming in general.Β That may have made me bite the bullet & then I'd just have to sell Giant Man in the aftermarket.Β Jarvis & an additional Hank sound like they were incentives for others, but wouldn't have been for me -- when dealing with a b-lister (on his best day) & some of the other parameters with this Haslab it's a toss up for what will or won't move the dial for someone to back.
EoV's main issue with figures behind a paywall is that Goblin Queen (as 1 example) is a very requested character pivotal to a beloved X-Men event & she has zero to do with Ghost Rider.Β To tie her to that, make it an non-classic "safer" look for an expensive adult backer project & say its the only way she will ever be released.... not good & not the same as releasing an "additional/variant" version of a character that is actually tied to the main Haslab product.
I mean we could circle around indefinitely about what could have been done differently (just like people did with EoV), but at the end of the day it only needs 10k backers... this close to the finish line & it's not even 70% funded & there have been some questionable campaign/marketing choices with the PR team completely renegging on everything that was just said in that Boog interview about a Wasp render reveal (and not only has a render been revealed... but also a prototype...) then I don't think the finger pointing should start at consumers.Β I hope this funds for those that want it, but if it doesn't I hope people don't start that "blame the consumer" thing.

well at least you're being direct for a change.Β That out of that whole write-up you honed in on me bemoaning about plastic titties (I'm gay btw, so plastic titties do nothing out of the ordinary for me) because I pointed out it was a "safe" non-classic look on a $400 project is a... choice.Β You don't particularly like me & find me grating, I get it -- you have made that abundantly clear in previous posts, but you didn't even scratch anything from that (for lack of a better word) "critique" of this project or why people may not be backing it.Β
My olive branch is that I'll try to avoid further interactions with you & just stick to admiring your mods & customs from afar off this platform.Β As an extra show of goodwill I'll lay off that "dislike" button too (I'll even "like" this post of yours!) π

As a long-time Legends collector, and just an action figure fanatic in general, I hope this beautiful beast of a figure gets made. That said, I haven't and won't be backing it. It's just not for me, and there are so many reasons as to why.Β
Firstly; I'm in Australia. There is only ONE place to back this legitimately here, and it's not through Hasbro Pulse.
At $599AUD (admittedly without having to worry about postage), that's roughly $380USD.
For context, I backed Galactus, through the same same channel, at roughly $799AUD when the exchange rate meant that was well over $500USD.
That said, the Engine of Vengeance was being offered at an eye-watering $899AUD.
There's a lot of things I can do with that money instead of getting another massive box to squeeze into the wardrobe alongside Galactus.Β
Which brings me to my other point; size v space. I live in one of the inner suburbs of one of the largest cities. Space is at an absolute premium for me. I don't even have Galactus on display, and he's a more natural centrepiece to my mind. In fact, I'm in the decision stage of looking to move him on.Β
To which, another point. I think Galactus and the Sentinel lend themselves better to space-concious collections, because as giant, world/city threatening adversaries, you can feasibly build a heroic force around them using any figures from your collection. Giant Man, at this size, kind of needs a proportionate combatant. To my mind at least.Β
I think that is also what possibly made those first two figures more "speculator friendly". I think the pool of people looking for giant Sentinels and Galactus will grow (or decline) proportionately with the line as a whole, whereas the number of collectors looking for a (more or less) first appearance Giant Man is more likely to decline regardless, particularly at that shelf-gobbling size.
Then there's the level of detail. There is no argument that this is an absolutely gorgeous figure, they have gone all out. To my eye, it may just be a bit too much, to the point where it doesn't really feel like 'Legends writ large' in the way the Sentinel and Galactus do.Β
There are a bunch of factors that have pushed me well away from even thinking about seriously backing this, but these are the killers.Β
I didn't expect the "I'm gay, so it's totally cool for me to want lady toys less clothed" angle, but it's interesting!
Β
If only we had more forward thinking people like you in the queer community campaigning for these Haslabs, Giant Man could have come with a G string as bonus tier.
again, there you got honing in on one thing & completely misconstruing it.Β It's about being touted as the "only" release for the character included in an expensive kickstarter & its not even a "classic" version of the character accurate to the most relevant event she appeared in.Β But you twist it anyway you need to in order to continue your little snipes while you simultaneously stand on your moral high ground.Β We should probably take this to PMs instead of clogging up a Haslab thread with our petty squabbling though.

My inbox doesn't have underboob, you'd probably hate it in there.
😕
that BAF needed an upgraded. Itβs not as great as it seems. Gummy limbs and weird body proportions. Itβs too smallΒ
Where on earth did this revision that Giant-Man grew this tall come from?Β In the silver age which is what this figure is based off he reached peak strength at 12 feet and anything after that he started growing weaker.Β This figure is oversized and the toybiz one was pretty much on point.

Β
I didnβt read silver age comicsΒ
the Marvel database lists it as variableΒ
Β
same with the Hulk
there is no definitive size it varies artist to artist but the name Giant Man says it all
Β
Β
Wouldn't it be astonishing to get Giant-Man, Wasp and Porcupine in 2024?

id like to see the eraser

@beamish we got some unique figs this year with the human fly and Razorback... So who knows
Iβm feeling good about this it looks like today had some momentumΒ
Β
the last day could add 1500-2500 so hereβs hoping
Β
keep it up you guys!
I still believe this could get over the line in the last day, but if it fails I do wonder what it'll mean for future crowdfunded Marvel items from Hasbro. I certainly hope we still get larger items made no matter the avenue, but I can't imagine another Marvel attempt if two in a row are failures.
