It’s kind of a bummer to me that they wouldn’t just make a body around 18” for Giant Man and sell it like they did the DOFP set. His body is pretty basic and would allow some easy reuse for his other costumes + characters like Josten and Barton.
Totally agree. There wouldn't need to be too much retooling to create a bevy of giant characters on that basic 18" buck. I'd also be happy with 14-16" range, personally.
Kind of the same argument about limited possible future HasLabs could be said about possible future figures in the main line. I sort of feel at this point that coming up with a half-dozen HasLabs for the next 6 years isn't that much harder than it is to think of 600 figures that need to be made and will work at retail - of course the main line can have redos and MCU figures and what not, but still, that's a lot of characters and waves needing BAFs.
I agree I wouldn't say never but I think it will be a few years, and I also think the MCU has the potential to generate a more traditional HasLab option during that time.
I'm hoping there's enough gas in the tank to get a Fantasticar II, but there's not another single Marvel thing or character I would buy at HasLab.
The Toy Biz version of that holds up so well though...it'd have to be truly amazing for me to want to upgrade.
And the original Fantasti-Car could easily be a deluxe or a BAF. It's not that big.
Easily huh? Then it's a guarantee Hasbro wouldn't do it as a deluxe or BAF.

I still have most of that one and it's very yellowed. I hope HasLab plans aren't scuttled by a 28-year old toy.

Then buy one that hasn't been cracked out of the box yet from eBay or Mercari, they're easily obtainable for $75 or usually much less. I did that a few years ago and none of the parts are yellowed.
Dragon Man is another great fit for a box set-style HasLab. He's probably a hair too big to work as a BAF. A HasLab could include a classic head and Future Foundation head. You could also pair him with any number of obscure FF characters.
Deluxe Awesome Android + Mad Thinker set, with a removable chalk board and a dozen different cloth outfits for Awesome Andy to wear when we goes to work at GLK&H.

Would love this. I think for some this would fall more into the "deluxe offering" category, but honestly if Haslabs moved into smaller projects like this after exhausting the bigger options I'd be all for it.
I still don't understand why people even need a huge Giant-Man figure as Haslab. It's just a man in spandex with no details in the costume. Zero lights. He doesn't have interesting mechanical design like Sentinel. The extra parts aren't particularly unique either...heads and hands. Tiers? Wasp and...more wasp I guess. It's going to be just a huge Marvel Legends figure for 400$ or even more. Figure that will just stand in one pose on your shelf. Figure that will be very difficult to pose due to it's size. Do people really want him THAT bad? Genuine question.
I'd rather have him in the same size as Super-Adaptoid. You can pack classic Wasp with him and sell it on Hasbro Pulse for 109.99$. It would be easy to put him in a display with other figures and not have to take apart an entire shelf to change the pose.
I'll bet $400 that if it is Giant-Man it doesn't cost anywhere near $400.
@panthercult: For example - a Serpent society set that could include characters that would require some intense new tooling like Anaconda, Sidewinder, Bushmaster and Death Adder. Such a set could also include some less tooling forward members like Asp, Black Mamba and Diamond Back. That's the kind of set that would be a tough sell at retail - especially with the mark up necessary for the unique tooling for some of them... but could make sense as Project offering. Maybe include a battle damaged Captain America or a Serpent Crown scarlet witch or something for them to work against. If you want to add in some bonus tiers it could be an extra set of stretchy arms for Anaconda, alternate head sculpts for Bushmaster or Cottonmouth or whatever.
Sold!
Along the same lines, how about a Thor set?
Include a larger 20"+ of Surtur or a Frost Giant
The Warriors Three
Balder the Brave
Skurge
Simonson armored bearded Thor
For those who can't/don't want to go to Instagram, the caption posted with it reads:
It's been a while since our last #MarvelLegends #Fanstream, so we're making this a BIG one just for you! Join the Marvel Legends team as they takeover the Hasbro Pulse YouTube channel next Friday, September 8th, at 11:00am ET. You definitely can't miss this one!
I'm assuming it's the Haslab but of course it could be unrelated!
Yeahhh, can we get Haslab Junior? Haslab Lite? Something that doesn't require batteries but is niche enough or big enough to be a crowdfunded product? Something that is more in the $100-200 price range?
The livestream is a day before my birthday. The prefect gift would be the anticipated Giant-Man HasLab vs Josten Goliath...
Plus...
Regular size and mini-size 1st Appearance Wasp somewhere, but not part of the HasLab
WCA Retro card Firebird - she and Pym were close at one point - she talked him down from suicide
Rita DeMara Yellowjacket somewhere
Definitely the Haslab given that "BIG" hint in the description.
