I think this will just barely make it, but if this one doesn’t fund, I can’t think of anything else that seems particularly viable for a future campaign if they stick to their stance of not doing multi-figure sets.
Question about how Pym's suit works. I haven't read a ton of comics with him in it, but I've seen the films. I've read a few dozen comics, but none of them explained how his powers work. In the film they said that when he shrinks his mass stays the same, so if he's 175 pounds full size then he's still 175 pounds while he's tiny, which is how he's able to punch full-size humans while tiny and still pack the usual whollop.
So how does his mass work when he grows? Is it the same--is he his regular weight when he's bigger? Implicitly I can tell that the answer is no, he isn't--his mass clearly increases greatly when he grows. That's evident by how he easily picks up humans with one hand, kicks trucks, tears the wing off of an airplane, etc. Why does it work differently with his mass increasing when he grows larger, does anyone know?
Hypothetically I wonder what advantage it would even be if he could grow but still weight 175 pounds. I guess he can reach a lot higher, but beyond that I'm not sure why spacing out his atoms and retaining the same mass would be something anyone would want.
I think this will just barely make it, but if this one doesn’t fund, I can’t think of anything else that seems particularly viable for a future campaign if they stick to their stance of not doing multi-figure sets.
The vibe I got from talking with Dwight was that if this doesn’t fund, there won’t be anymore Marvel Legends HasLabs.
Giant-Man looks spectacular! Really hopes this funds. He will make such a cool centerpiece for the Avengers! And such fun for photos and displays, as Shooting the Galaxy showed us!
It's at 6,511 backers as of this post.
This is the weirdest time to be a doomer about this campaign. It's 65% funded and we know the last day is good for at least 2,500.
Once these things fund, the last days are consistently 2k at a minimum, (7561 for Galactus and 8971 for Skystriker being the most last day backers). The key word is ONCE it funds, then it cascades.
I hope you guys are right
i backed Rancor and the Hell Charger
didnt care much that Rancor has canned but the Hell Charger remained at the 50% mark up until the very end. There was no surplus of backers at the last minute
it can go either way, but two years without a Marvel haslab is disheartening
GI JOE and Transformers seem to fund easily though
@enigmaticclarity, my comic knowledge is pretty outdated, but back in the day it was explained that Pym particles were extra-dimensional. When growing, he'd draw in particles from this other dimension to build out his mass. When he shrinks, his mass displaces into another dimension so that he gets to weigh the same as an ant while still being able to draw on his full-size mass for jumps and punches.
I stayed out of last years Hellcharger discussions which were pretty negative
they just went off the rails. I don’t get why that’s acceptable behaviour, and anything I say is deemed antagonistic.
there’s always someone or something to blame for such trivial matters. If it funds great, if not oh well. It saves a lot of time not checking for updates
Giant-Man:
6,526 / 10,000 (+196) 65.26% of funding goal with 3d 19h left.
Nice to see a better bump, in part because of the Wasp? (Maybe?) Now comes the crunch time. Let's see how the weekend goes, and maybe the ML team will reveal some other figures that can tie into Giant-Man.
It’s updated in real time. I had a family member place an order for 5 (separately) and the counter went up by 5
6531
Dan explicitly said in one of his interviews that you shouldn't try to gain backers that way. When the payment time comes, all your friends, grandfathers and brothers who miraculously ordered 5 figures, obviously, won't buy them. So they (Hasbro) will see a decline in backers. If you think that this way you can trick other people and make them support the project - don't.
Just back your figure that you will definitely buy and wait for the results.
I can't help but think if these things begin to have a lot of people padding the numbers with the intention of cancelling orders later, that we might ultimately end up having to either be charged when we back vs the end of the campaign or they eliminate the cancellation grace period. That in itself would probably hurt the numbers of future Haslabs.
Regarding an extension, Unicron happened when Haslab was still a new concept, and projects were trickling out. Now every brand has one jammed into the back half of the year. It's all but confirmed that a Ghostbusters campaign is starting within days of Giant Man, so a significant extension will probably mess up that and whatever's coming after it.
I have to say, I’ll be so very sad and disappointed if he doesn’t fund. But 3500 backers out of thin air in four days does not seem realistic.
Gaining thousands of backers on the last day or two of a crowdfund is actually very realistic! I'm not suggesting that's guaranteed for this one, but it shouldn't be surprising.
