I still think Leopardon is the ace up Hasbro's sleeve as a Haslab.

I seriously had to google that.  I hope that is indeed the haslab.

I'll save a lot of money.

Jeez, if you had to Google then it's definitely obscure.

I just looked it up, too, and my first thoughts were "Oh, that thing, ok."

I'm hoping there's enough gas in the tank to get a Fantasticar II, but there's not another single Marvel thing or character I would buy at HasLab.

I would be into a Leopardon. I don't know about it's broader appeal, but they'd get my backing at least!

The Toy Biz version of that holds up so well though...it'd have to be truly amazing for me to want to upgrade.

And the original Fantasti-Car could easily be a deluxe or a BAF.  It's not that big.

I really think boxed sets are the way to go with Marvel Haslabs. There are some really deep dive characters that a LOT of people would love to get their hands on, but would never buy at retail and Amazon doesn't wanna get stuck with overbuying on an exclusive they'll have to discount like they have the last few exclusive sets.

Imperial Guard

Marauders

Even themed sets like X-Tinction Agenda would be great

Have a base set of 6 or so characters and tiers unlock more. I'd buy a few!

Third, Japan. They spend hundreds for smaller mech figures. Much like the last two Transformers Haslabs banked on close to 50% of their numbers from Asian territories, Leopardon could succeed largely on Japanese sales without even factoring in the Spider-Man/Spider-Verse U.S. market.

This could work, especially if the collab'd with Takara.

I would think Japanese mecha fans would regard Leopardon as a cheap foreign knockoff.  That's how I look at him.

Part of why the show is so weird as a Spide-Man take is that Marvel had essentially no input except for the name and costume.

The last 6.7" Leopardon goes for $150. A vintage one goes for over $600.

Again, I think this is a thing that would fund without leaning on regular Marvel Legends collectors except for Spider-Verse completists.

It's the kind of project that doesn't need (and probably wouldn't get) the regular Fwoosh crowd. Although I think Robo would be all-in because he's Robo and most of the YouTube influencers I follow are Toei Spider-Man fans.

I don't know if it would top Sentinel or Galactus but I guesstimate it would pull just shy of 20k, with over half of those in Japan.

I disagree about the timing of a switch to box sets. I expect it sooner mostly because of pressures from retail partners, but won't count out cost issues (which is somewhat related to costs).

Not to say that Disney/Marvel won't try to shove something Hasbro doesn't want down their throats (gotta think a Fantasticar will proceed or accompany an FF movie).

But as most have pointed out, there's not a lot left in terms of future large size figures or vehicles that would be 100% guaranteed funded. The Balckbird is probably most wanted, but didn't someone figure it'd need to be 5 feet long? Shipping alone (from China to your door) for a truly 1/12 scale Quinjet or Blackbird would be insane with current ballon rates.  The Ghost is 3 feet long and $500, so Blackbird would probably need to be closer to $700.

That seems prohibitive, but hey, a lot of people bought multiple Sentinels and Galacti.

I'll add that I'd LOVE to see a Haslab diorama. Unfortunately, there are key people in the foodchain who don't believe they are viable, who have historically quashed them.

If this particular HasLab is Giant-Man and he does sell well, another giant that would be an instant purchase for me would be:

Titan

Accompanied by 4 Imperial Guard tiers, my favorites being...

Hussar

Warstar

Manta

Starbolt

Let's say Titan was the 2024 HasLab, shipping in 2025. We have Gladiator and Fang. Add these 5 in one fell swoop. Add in any other Imperial Guard member they could include in a both the 2024 and 2025 BAF waves or a few 2-packs. Theoretically we could have a good size Imperial Guard in 2025!

The real Blackbird jet made by the military that the X-Men vehicle is based on is around 110 feet long, so in twelfth scale that's 11 feet.  Almost the entire thing is weapons, engine, and fuel with just a tiny cockpit in the front, so clearly the X-jet is different.  They usually make it vaguely similar to a real Blackbird, but shorter, wider, and with an actual cabin space.

Someone 3D printed a Blackbird and sold it on Etsy earlier this year.  Marvelous News had a story about it.  The Etsy listing that's gone now said how long it was...I forget the exact length, but my memory is saying it was around 4 feet long.

It’s kind of a bummer to me that they wouldn’t just make a body around 18” for Giant Man and sell it like they did the DOFP set. His body is pretty basic and would allow some easy reuse for his other costumes + characters like Josten and Barton. But anyway, if Giant Man is indeed the haslab this year then he would have to be a classic version for me to even consider it.

As far as other big characters go, the only other ones I could see myself forking out the money for are Foom and Dragon Man. And maybe the big monster from F4#1 with some amazing tiers.
