@yojoebro82 It was a sustained campaign. That's a rosy way of looking back on it.

The majority of people never agreed that a Bratz car was better value or that a stand needed to be taken against pricing for the line in general. It's gone up again since then, so...

We're talking about the very vocal and sustained group that would try and find a new reason to hate the campaign daily, and danced around like goofs when the numbers dropped on the last day like they'd somehow won some great battle in their lives. They were pretty much part of a sustained campaign, and none of the rational folks agreed with their nonsense.

Those who simply stated the price was too high for them given what was included and sort of faded away - not many of them.

How about simply the fact that the campaign was ill conceived and poorly implemented?  The price was too high (and at the time, you blasted the people who didn't like it as being poor), Robbie is a new character that doesn't evoke nostalgia, the early bird promotion essentially took away features from the offering, and the 3 tiers were all modern instead of classic looks.

But no, it must have been the people who felt those issues were significant, that were at fault.

Also, it's really rich that you, one of the most toxic people left on this forum, are complaining about a sustained negativity campaign.  You are a living, breathing, sustained negativity campaign.  You are the mirror image of the hellcharger negativity cabal you imagine in your head.

Any analysis of why the EoV failed that doesn't include the massive, sustained campaign against its success is woefully incomplete.

Can you discuss more of this? I am not familiar with this topic of discussion.

The idea that people would point to a so-called "massive, sustained campaign" against the EoV, rather than the actual problems inherent in the project has shown that even a year later, they still insist the project was good actually, just that fellow collectors were too picky and couldn't fall in line.  Even Hasbro has internalized the issues apparent in the EoV project and adjusted accordingly.  But for some people, that's just a bridge too far, and they'd rather blame their fellow collectors rather than the company that made the decisions that led to the EoV's downfall to begin with.

I'm surprised we are wading back into the Hellcharger territory.   Ghost Rider is just not *that* property to carry anything.  I know people think it can have a retro wave & a Haslab, but it's just not that hot of a property.  Add to that -- Robbie is a newer GR & not that popular himself & carries zero nostalgia goodwill that someone like Blaze would have (ditto for the Hellcharger).  Marvel is also not a property/universe that really lends itself to vehicles having great importance like they do for GI Joe or Star Wars.  People who had no interest in GR at all were annoyed that Hasbro were locking figures like an important MU villain like Mephisto & an important X-Men specific character with no ties to GR (Goblin Queen) as the "only way" to get them via the Haslab because they were pretending that "fan channels" were an impossibility (let's also not forget Goblin Queen's costume being sanitized... in an expensive adult collector item).

So yes, people bitched about how stupid it was & were negative about it.  You also had ardent Hasbro defenders (a la the white knights of Dorkside yore) & some of the Hasbro contingent themselves blaming consumers instead of looking at the product & their approach/marketing.  A "sustained" hate campaign doesn't really cover the gamut of what occurred from Hasbro's own end.

@tetragene but there was a hate campaign.

In addition to many, many, many, MANY other things. I think that was the point, to ignore that a hate campaign did exist is like saying people didn't complain that the figure Madelyn wasn't showing enough underboob.

You can lie and pretend you weren't a toxic presence in the EoV thread and that you didn't call fellow collectors poor for complaining about the price, but the 100 or so people that still post here remember.  You went into similar negative tirades when people pointed out the EoV's issues that were obvious to anyone else.  So yeah, have fun projecting your own toxicity onto your fellow collectors and then acting innocent the next time the forums get wiped.

What do you think this so called "hate" (really, hate of a niche consumer product? People didn't "hate" the project, they didn't want to back it and pointed out that it was an obvious rip off, which even Hasbro has conceded) was based on?  You will point to whatever made up reasons you want to in order to avoid discussing the actual issues that drove thousands of collectors away from the project: the price, the early bird campaign, and the property itself.

Also, these posts pointing to this "sustained negativity campaign" imply that there's something wrong with people banding together the vocalize problems wih the campaign that were painfully obvious.  What should they do instead, quietly mutter to themselves "it's not worth backing" and that's it?

I understand that reading three sentences that dispel your inflated sense of ego and self-worth is very hard for you.  What a shame!

Fucking YES! Grow up and stop throwing a hissy fit over a toy that doesn't fit in your budget.

Or you know... just not back it. But... that's clearly not enough. Ya gotta bitch. Daily. Hourly. How many posts you got in you for this hour? Let's seeeeeeee

@plorp mainly because your opinion specifically means less than a baker's fuck to me. If we're being honest.

Funny, you seem to have no issue bitching and complaining about collectors that don't back a B tier overpriced haslab project that failed for actual reasons.  If you had any theory of mind, you'd recognize this instead of instinctually going "Waaaaah, these people didn't like the thing I did! They are BAD and now I didn't get my overpriced CAR!!!"

But yeah, blame the collectors for reacting to the issues inherent to the project instead of Hasbro, who made them in the first place.  A charitable interpretation of your post is that you don't think consumers or people as a whole should ever do anything but meekly accept it when an authority figure puts the screws to them, ever.  But let's be honest, you'd be the first to whine and complain were the shoe on the other foot.

OK, google, what's a baker's _____ mean?

"Used to express not giving a _____ , but when not giving a ____ doesn't go far enough. A bakers ____ has an inverse relationship to a bakers dozen."

I love it!

OK, back to work.
