Why is the number of backers going so slow?

I think that's just how these campaigns go - fast out of the gate and then a long, slow crawl until the last few days where it shoots up again. We probably won't see much action for the next three weeks or so.

@wummyhulk It's common with crowdfunding campaigns regardless of product. The first few and last few days are often where 50% or more of the total funding comes from. First few days are early adopters who already planned to buy the thing or were immediately convinced, last few days are folks getting funds together or experiencing FOMO right before the window closes. Pay it no mind. With few exceptions, there will be another big rush in the last few days. Since this one is already halfway there, it will likely fund in the last 24hrs, and as long as it does so early enough there will be a second surge right after it funds once a bunch of holdouts decide now it's actually happening.

This is why a lot of crowdfunding has the stretch goals fund late in a campaign. Once you cross the baseline amount the sudden influx of holdouts can be almost as large as the previous early adopters.

Sometimes I think they should just do 7-10 days and call it good, but I'm sure that they're worried that they'd miss some people and of course they want to maximize sales. A few posters on another platform were giving me a hard time because I said that I always wait until the last weekend - but I just don't see any incentive to doing it before I have to. Yes, I know that they won't charge until the same time regardless - but I'm just not in a hurry. I'll also know if the tiers are looking like they'll fund or not at that point. I waited until the very last day on both Galactus and the Sentinel also. Also for me this time around the decision as to whether I buy just one or multiples will be my determining factor on whether I do Pulse Premium or not since shipping on these is not free for some stupid reason. I'll only buy multiples if the Skrull head funds.

Longer timeframes are better. In a month, a paycheck or two will hit, money frees up, and people can justify hopping in. Making it a month and a half gives a bit more leeway for freelancers (such as myself) who get paid very irregularly. If it was around a week or two, it'd probably quarter the people who actually buy the thing.

Well, I wish to back 5-10 myself. I want to have the other Goliaths, Josten Goliath and Titan from the Imperial Guard customized using this Giant-Man. I want all my giant guys the same size or slightly bigger.

I'm hoping Hasbro's ML team will show a skrull two pack or three pack include a female at NYCC and also some actual comic Marvel Zombies hence why I said to back 5-10.

5,375 / 10,000 (+202) 53.75% of funding goal with 25d 18h left.

WHOA!!!

Where did that come from? 202 backers in the last 24 hours? Was there some revelation, or livestream I was unaware of that drew this much interest? Non-Pulse international partner orders?

Either way good news, and nice to see a big daily bump in the middle of the lull.

I'd imagine that jump is an anomaly, and we'll be back to the slow crawl tomorrow, but it's still both surprising and welcome.

Well back to the more standard daily gains after that one day bump. Strange, wonder what caused it.

I wonder if some retailer bought like 175 units or something.  Maybe it's the BBTS effect.

It seems like this is going to be sitting between 6000-6500 going into the last two days.  If that's the case I think this will fund but I'm pretty doubtful the stretch goals will be hit.  I don't see many extra backers coming out of the woodwork to secure the an alt head.

All evidence I've seen suggests retailers have no easy way to do this, and I know with a high degree of confidence that Hasbro doesn't sell Haslabs directly to any retailers separately from the campaign.  They explicitly said this during their first Haslab, and while they don't mention it anymore I've seen evidence that they're still not selling them to retailers separately from the price we all pay on the campaign.  That evidence is below.

When the Sentinel campaign ran there was no limit to the number you could buy on Pulse.  During that one BBTS, Entertainment Earth, and Dorkside all listed the Sentinel for sale at something like a $100 markup and without free shipping.  All three venues sold out pretty quickly during the month or two after the Haslab ended.  I think BBTS actually sold out BEFORE it ended, and the probable reason for that (assuming I'm remembering it correctly, which I may not be) was that BBTS wasn't charging the full $350 up front like Hasbro does at the end of Haslabs; BBTS just required a 10% deposit up front.  So I was guessing people who bought that before the Haslab ended just didn't have the cash at the time and preferred to wait a year to pay.  At the time I wasn't sure Hasbro wasn't just selling some units straight to retailers, but my guess was that these retailers were just backing a group of Sentinels just as any of us could have done.

When Galactus hit Pulse started imposing a maximum of 5 units for each account.  Giant-Man currently has the same limit.  None of the retailers listed Galactus for sale, so my guess was they just didn't have a way of buying Galactus as a normal backer, and it further confirmed the reasonable guess that Hasbro still wasn't selling directly to retailers.  They had explicitly said they weren't going to sell to retailers with the first Haslab of Jabba's barge the Khetanna, but I was never sure they hadn't just changed that policy since they weren't explicitly even mentioning it with all of the Haslabs after the Khetanna.  BBTS, EE, and Dorkside listing the Sentinel for sale but not Galactus was a further bit of circumstantial evidence that Hasbro still wasn't selling to retailers.

I'm not sure if at the time of the Sentinel campaign Pulse allowed for non-US purchases too easily (or maybe the shipping was exorbitant, I recall there being some issues there), so I think that some of those sales with BBTS et al may have been for folks outside the US unable to purchase directly from Pulse?

But I agree, I don't think they are opening this to retailers - at least not US retailers. If a Hasbro wholesaler in Qatar wants 50, that might be a different story.
