Fin Fang Foom probably has the best shot at a Haslab figure. He is a BAF that hasn't seen a re-release (outside of those tiny toony figures years ago). His secondary market price is pretty high (like Giant-Man), and he is a dragon!! That alone should give him a slight boost for not ML collectors to be interested in buying. I think if they could make it so he could display nude, or with his trunks, that would be great. Also it would play up to the people who are interested in a giant space dragon without the clothes.
Agreed. That is similar reason as to why I believe Dragon Man could be a good candidate as well.
Dragon Man would make a lot of sense as a deluxe release. Not big enough for a HasLab.
After Giant Man I'd say Foom is your next best bet - but not guaranteed to fund. It could be a surprise hit, especially among those who never got the BAF.
Wouldn't see Apocalypse being in demand as a HasLab given that regular size release is good enough for most, and he is not widely recognized as having a giant form. Not his iconic look.
I would love another, updated Dragon Man. Especially considering how expensive he is on the secondary market. However I agree that he shouldn't be a Haslab, and a deluxe release is fine. I can't see him being bigger than a 12" figure realistically.
I forget he’s smaller in other instances but this is about the size I always imagine.
But either way, good luck getting that mofo in a deluxe
It's honestly pretty hard to see much working for HasLab going forward. Although I'd buy a new Foom probably, I don't feel like I need one - the old BAF is just fine (but I said the same thing about GM/Galactus/Sentinel and I bought all). I'd almost certainly pass on a huge Apocalypse. I still have the ToyBiz BAF and don't even display it as I prefer the smaller Hasbro BAF. Dragon Man was done so well by Toy Biz that it's one that I don't think that Hasbro should even try to top because I can't see any way that they could at any price point less than what the original still can be had for on the secondary market. After the HellCharger I think that they'll be super reluctant to try a vehicle in the 1/12th scale but I could see them doing a HasLab vehicle in the 1/18th scale -- but even then they would likely have to be more expensive than Galactus was, for sure. After seeing the NECA price on the sewer living room, I think that I've given up on most diorama sets.
The one HasLab that I'd really want is Mole Man with the Giaganto Mole Monster from the cover of Fantastic Four #1 with a bunch of Moloids/Subterraneans. I honestly don't think that it would fund though. Ditto for Celestials like Arishem or Ziran (or both together).
For other Giant-Man related characters like Bill Foster or Hank Pym Goliath, Raz GM, Atlas or Stature I think the best route for these is just to do them as 12" figures like Super Adaptoid or Surtur at a $50-$100 price point as Fan Channel exclusives (Pulse/BBTS/EE/Amazon/Gamestop/TRU).
I don't really need a new 6" Janet Wasp figure, but I'm sure that I'd buy a nice pinless one of either her or Nadia. I have zero interest in a new 6" version of a Hank Giant Man, Goliath or Yellowjacket. I don't need any more Hanks after this Giant-Man. I'm already using the WCA jumpsuit version as custom fodder. I'd certainly buy other characters in those roles though (like Rita as YJ or Raz as GM)!
Dragon Man does seem like he could be done as some sort of deluxe release. He's listed at 15 feet, which is probably reflected in the cover Ram posted. I'd be happy with him around Super-Adaptoid's height, though obviously he'd be much bigger overall with the tail and wings.
If something like Dragon Man was a Haslab I think they might do it as a set of figures with one Deluxe offering and few complements. Dragon Man with the entirety of the FF in their Future Foundation looks (removable spectacles for DM). That idea still begs the question: why not just individual releases for everyone?
Foom is the next obvious big guy. Vehicles might be DOA after the EOV tanked, but maaaybe a Quinjet or Punisher van might be on the table. A Blackbird almost certainly isn't. Dioramas have probably been considered, but I dunno how much traction they'd get, especially considering how expensive they'd likely be. A modular Danger Room or Iron Man armory set could be a good idea, encouraging people to buy multiple units. But I bet they're going to be gun shy for a long time to try anything that goes too far outside of the proven formula.
I’d have no interest in a HasLab Apocalypse. 12” is the biggest I’d go, but I’d prioritize any of the growing characters over Apocalypse. Stature, Goliath, Atlas.. I’d also prefer Dragon Man over Apocalypse. Fin Fang Foom could work as HasLab, but I’m officially out of room already. FFF isn’t a must have.
Sign me up for 12" Atlas, Goliath, Goliath II, Goliath III, Black Goliath, etc.
So, maybe I’m wrong, but regarding the faceplates I was under the impression that he comes with three as a baseline, then the zombie and skrull head are the only two tiers.
Did I misunderstand the presentation? Not that I give two shakes about any of the alternate portraits. Mine will have the neutral face on at pretty much all times given my display preferences.

You are correct. The base product comes with three expressions. 1st tier is the zombie faceplate + zombie antennae (not a full-on 2nd head, just swappable parts), 2nd tier is the Skrull head.
Thor-El, you're exactly right. I'm hoping that it fully funds past the 14,000 mark and then I'd buy two. I'd have one as Hank, one as the Skrull and I'd use the spare normal head from the Skrull version to have just a decapitated Zombie Giant-Man head only to hang out with zombie Cap, Tony, Wanda and whomever else they make in the future. I have all of the Marvel Select Zombies too, but they're too big to fit with these and don't use that animated blueish grey hue that Hasbro seems to like.
@spideyboy1111 I get that but it would almost make the most sense then for them not to make the faceplates tiers at all because locking them suppresses extra sales.
For every tier not unlocked, there's a percentage of buyers not buying two more. So it's self-defeating.
Tiers are a VERY tricky thing.
1. I think earlybird tiers have serious potential to backfire unless they're REALLY non-essential. The big earlybirds I've seen succeed in crowdfunding are the Proton Pack Slime Attachment and Cats Lair Thundera Key. They occupy a gray space where you wouldn't typically want them badly by themselves and you also wouldn't miss not having them. A true bonus.
2. Unrelated tiers to the core offering breed frustration and resentment from people who just want some of the tiers and inflate the price for people who don't want them.
3. Tiers that create a potential for buying multiples have a spotty record. The Doom Galactus probably annoyed more than it enticed. I think things like alternate heads for army building are also a problem from two perspectives: they inflate the price for people who have zero interest in multiples and not including them in the base package suppresses army building sales until they unlock. This has a counter-intuitive possible effect where you could sell 15,000 but you won't unless you sell 13,000, for example. You're suppressing your own sales.
Now, I'm not ready to give up on tiers because I think they have proven benefits to the success of campaigns, which I actually want to see happen!
I see a couple of takeaways:
1. The tier needs to be something that is additive to the base offering, not a substitution or an army building incentive. Substitutions like civilian Robbie Reyes vs. Robbie as Ghost Rider, alternate heads, or faceplates have weird and unintuitive effects. Good examples are the Proton Pack stand or Deathsaurus Throne. They almost exclusively appeal to people who want the base package and they don't substitute anything in the base package.
2. I think it's really worth considering making tiers that could stand alone a "free" bonus or non-exclusive to the campaign. It's a bummer to see things NOT happen when a campaign doesn't fund and it doesn't always make sense to lock them off this way. For example, do a first appearance Wasp that is explicitly non-exclusive. Free for backers if unlocked but going up for sale regardless and stated so up front. People love to save $25 and it's a concrete value. Likewise, I still think a straight up voucher system wouldn't be bad where, for example, backers just get a $25 Hasbro Pulse gift card as a tier, sent out when the item ships and with maybe a 12 month use expiration.
Yeah, between the likes of Foom, Atlas, Goliath, Surtur, etc...I dont think any of them could support a HasLab, to be honest.
Regarding Apocalypse, I actually agree that I don't really need him in a giant scale, either. I just think he's a far more popular character than any of the aforementioned. He was the big boss in one of the Marvel vs Capcom games, depicted in an enormous scale, and there were certainly moments in the 90s cartoon and the comics where he grew to enormous sizes. Maybe that would resonate with people? I'm trying not to let my own character biases factor in, but I think of Apocalypse as an "A" level villain. The rest of these are mostly B- and C-listers.
I would go for a 12-16" (no larger than that) Apocalypse that comes with the original 4 Horsemen. If the response is why would that need to be a Haslab... well, why does 2' Hank need to be a Haslab? There are other figures of that size/price sold at retail.
But I would gladly buy a 12-16" Atlas, Goliath, Foom, Dragon Man, etc. as deluxe releases.

If Apocalypse is A-list, what list are Doctor Doom, Thanos, and Magneto on? All three are significantly more popular than Apocalypse, and I didn't think there were any letters before "A". 🤔
I see this mistake with the heroes constantly. People call Iron Man or Cap A-list, but then what list are Spidey and Wolverine on? Both are significantly more popular than ANY other Marvel character.
I got it….
a big ass Puppet Master with some F4 puppets & regular sized Puppet Master.
No, wait… a big ass Mephisto w/ a regular sized Mephisto.

Okay, reread the text you're quoting. It's talking about Apocalypse being an A-lister in the context of haslab candidates. In a haslab thread. Doom, Thanos, and Magneto are not associated with being giant in the way that would warrant a haslab. But thanks for pointing out that those villains are also A-listers, I think the thread needed to be reminded of that general fact for some reason.

Fair enough - he's not one of the absolute most important villains in Marvel. But how much further down is he? He's arguably the #2 X-Men villain; how many villains in Marvel have more name recognition than Apocalypse?
- Galactus
- Thanos
- Doom
- Magneto
- Red Skull
- Ultron
- Loki
- Doc Ock
- Green Goblin
- maybe Kang now that he's in the MCU?
- Venom, if he still counts as a bad guy?
- Dark Phoenix, if she counts as a full-fledged villain?
- Kingpin...maybe?
I'm probably forgetting one or two obvious ones, but I think my point is still valid - Apocalypse is one of the 20, maybe 15 - maybe even higher - most notable villains in Marvel.
As much as I'd personally like an Atlas, a Foom, a Dragon Man, a Surtur...are any of them even close to the top 20?
