I'd still love a Fantastic Car, though that really COULD be done at retail if they just do the design that's 4 idenitcal cars that combine into one. You just sell one car with a stand, and people who want the whole thing can buy 4. No reason that should cost more than $40-50 per car. Especially without a figure.
I agree. It could be a deluxe, or even a BAF.
And if you want the 80s style FantastiCar the Toy Biz one is still great and can still be had cheaply on the secondary market.
Simonson Surtur with Twilight...? Totally in, and that may actually be it. I likely wouldn't back vehicles. Dioramas maybe. Multi-figure packs...? Depending on the group, yeah.
I would love a Simonson Surtur with Twilight. But I would be bummed that I have hardly any of Thor's supporting cast to go with him.
As far as the Giant Man buck goes, I wouldn't mind a Frost Giant or two down the road. Maybe a Sphinx or Terminus.
I backed this but I am still bummed they went this route instead of making a 18” (or less) base body that could’ve been used for other costumes/characters. I want an Erik Josten Goliath so bad, grrr!
On another note, I wonder if there’d be enough interest in a Dragon Man or Mangog?
I'd take both Dragon Man and Mangog, but they're definitely in the same vein as the BAF+ concept I pitched earlier in the thread. Probably slightly too big to work as BAFs, but way smaller than anything we've seen from HasLab so far.
Fin Fang Foom probably has the best shot at a Haslab figure. He is a BAF that hasn't seen a re-release (outside of those tiny toony figures years ago). His secondary market price is pretty high (like Giant-Man), and he is a dragon!! That alone should give him a slight boost for not ML collectors to be interested in buying. I think if they could make it so he could display nude, or with his trunks, that would be great. Also it would play up to the people who are interested in a giant space dragon without the clothes.
Apocalypse isn't someone I would be interested in at a huge scale. As others have said I like him at BAF/Deluxe size. That is where my minds eye goes when I think of him. Also he has had a plethora of figures in the past number of years between the new BAF, the AOA Deluxe, the Retro Card animated version of the BAF and the MS verssion. I don't think there would be that many backers who would "need" an 18-24" Apocalypse. If they went below 18" I would wonder why bother with Haslab and not just do a DTC/Fan Channel offering instead?
I do wonder what the ML team has left in the tank for Haslab if they can't get a successful project that isn't a giant figure.
Oh and I don't think people should expect to see any alternate Giant-Man/Goliath characters from this mold. It is a Haslab, rightly or wrongly that should mean exclusivity for the main offering. Offering up the mold in different forms outside of the Haslab kind of detracts from the whole point of it, especially if it is offered at retail or fan channel. The ties haven't been off limits of course, but the main offering, so far, has been off limits to anything outside of Haslab. Changing that could negatively affect the future of Haslabs going forward.
Now there is a good chance that the Haslab model for ML could be done in the next few years, and if that comes to pass I could see Hasbro deciding to use the molds in another form.

How much display room do you have??? Could you really accommodate three or four more two foot tall figures?
I'm hoping they never use this Giant Man body again because it's WAY too big for multiples. That's why I was rooting for a HasLab project that was 18 inches - (maybe even two figures that size)... since that would at least be more reasonable for future re-use and be easier to accommodate in a display.
The reality is that I would prefer most of my giant figures to be at most 15 to 16 inches tall to assimilate better into multi figure displays.
Ah, a HasLab two-pack of 18" MCU and 616 Giant-Men!! Ahhhhhhhh...
I really want Atlas to go with my Thunderbolts, but I want him no larger than 12" so he'll fit WITH my Thunderbolts.
Hank here is already gonna have to be on the floor. If I get him.
Here's something that I have been thinking about more and more since this was announced, I hope this doesn't set a precedent where all future exceedingly tall characters are reserved for Haslabs. I would like an opportunity to have all the different versions of Giant Man, Goliath and Atlas in the same scale. I don't want or need every character that can grow taller than an average person to be locked into a crowd fund only option. They certainly could have made this a 16"-18" figure and made it an online exclusive with a limited window to pre-order it.

The good news is, they still can. Nothing about this is stopping them from developing a 15" deluxe giant body. They can then release a fan channel Atlas on the body with some costume overlays and a head. then they release a 15" Living Monolith on the same body with different head and different overlays. Then they release a Barton Goliath.... then a Black Goliath... then 90's Giant Man with all the pouches... then classic Giant Man... then Josten Goliath... and since Giant man's thing is growing to different sizes, you can have versions at multiple sizes.

Agreed. That is similar reason as to why I believe Dragon Man could be a good candidate as well.
I'm surprised people are saying "why isn't there a Wasp figure with this?"
Hardly anyone buys Wasp figures and Hasbro knows it - consumers have sent that message loud and clear.
The first movie Wasp was maybe the pegwarmer of the century and the previous Wasp from the carded retro wave is the only one from that series you can still get for around retail (or at least current ML retail).
I thought it was a wasted opportunity to include Surfer with Galactus - they'd released him a few times in recent years and it wasn't like serious collectors (aka Haslab backers) didn't have him or couldn't get him. Of course they'd probably have given us another Morg-level Mort figure instead, but at least it would've been a new character.
PS: I'd buy a 1st Avengers Wasp with the pointy helmet, but I have a few Wasps in my collection already, she's way down my list & I'll live if I never get it.

Dragon Man would make a lot of sense as a deluxe release. Not big enough for a HasLab.
After Giant Man I'd say Foom is your next best bet - but not guaranteed to fund. It could be a surprise hit, especially among those who never got the BAF.
Wouldn't see Apocalypse being in demand as a HasLab given that regular size release is good enough for most, and he is not widely recognized as having a giant form. Not his iconic look.
I enjoy comic Wasp figures. She's had so many costumes that I think she's fun. Honestly, I'd love it if every Avengers-wave or Avengers-related figure comes with that mini-Wasp mold done in different costume variations. Even if we can't get full figures of them, I still think they'd be a fun thing to have.
I still think they could have done that with figures if they ditched the faces and skrull head, but again. It's moot. They didn't
I'm still glad they're including heads and faceplates instead of figures. We will absolutely get a small Giant-Man or a new Wasp some time in the future, but where else would they release an accessory to a giant, made to order toy?
It's the smartest play. I hope future HasLabs from Marvel continue to focus on accessories and options for the big centerpiece.
That presupposes we actually unlock the faceplates.
I'm optimistic about funding and maybe the first tier on the last day but I don't think that last tier is happening unless something changes whereas I think a figure in its place would have funded.
I think the faceplates may be self-defeating because I'm not fully convinced either will unlock whereas something else in the same spot might have.
the 2 other faceplates should have been 1 single tier on their own, with at least 1 figure thrown in.
but the faceplates are important to drive sales because it entices a collector to buy a 2nd giantman (is anyone really buying 3 to display?) but 2 is enticing. You could have him fight the skrull, or you can have a zombie display going.
for those who want the skrull or zombie in their display, are also likely still going to want giantman.. so that enticement is important from a business perspective.
There's at least one more large character that would probably drum up more interest than Giant-Man, assuming all things such as price, tiers, etc. Are equal: Apocalypse.
I think an Apocalypse HasLab would do well, better than this one. I wouldn't make him this tall, and I would certainly pack him in with some figures (Horsemen? Ozymandias?), but I think he would be a winner.
giant apocalypse should be no bigger than the giantman we're getting... and tbh, the only enticement for me would be if he had 4 tiers, each with a classic looking horseman. (only way we're ever getting those). I'd take a smaller apocalypse even to keep the price down. Giant Apocalypse doesn't really need to be bigger than the toybiz baf.
