The fact that Marvel Legends are also $24.99 on their own damn website says it all.
This has everything to do with maintaining relationships with their retail vendors - which are their bread and butter. If they sell the figures cheaper on their website than MSRP then Amazon, Target and Wal Mart have less incentive to carry the figures.
That's apples and oranges from costs built in to a HasLab campaign. They don't have to sell a figure at a $25 price there, since it's not competing with retail vendors for sales - they do it because we're conditioned to be OK with it and they get more profit.
But I suppose you're right that bringing it in under $200 was important. I still think they could have done that with figures if they ditched the faces and skrull head, but again. It's moot. They didn't
Now they have the basics of a 24" body how cost effective would it be to make a Living Tribunal eliminating all the detail on the body and casting a new head? I don't have detailed knowledge of how that prices out like most of us. The basic work is done on a base male body at that scale though.
I do hope they use this as a jumping off point to make other large scale characters, the aforementioned Goliath and Atlas, and Living Tribunal would also be amazing. But Im not sure how they would do that. More HasLabs for what is functionally the same thing? I dunno, probably stale to get that every year. Pulse exclusive? Might devalue the Haslab idea. I want them to make more similar sized characters, but we'll just have to see.

I'm still glad they're including heads and faceplates instead of figures. We will absolutely get a small Giant-Man or a new Wasp some time in the future, but where else would they release an accessory to a giant, made to order toy?
It's the smartest play. I hope future HasLabs from Marvel continue to focus on accessories and options for the big centerpiece.
I don’t think there’s another massive character that would get funded, and they’re not going to try vehicles again.
Agree about no other big characters, but one of the next two projects will almost certainly be either a Quinjet or Blackbird. The custom 3D-printed one that showed up on Etsy earlier this year paved the way for a Blackbird version that many would buy--although I'm unlikely to be one of them due to the space requirements. I'm on the fence as to whether either would actually fund, but I'm sure they will try it anyway since the well for large projects is running dry.

I'll be very surprised if both aren't among the reveals during PulseCon.
What I'd particularly love is a box set with several differently-sized Giant-Mans. One that's 6" and another that's 12" would be fantastic.
I've noticed some similarities in the tooling of this Giant-Man and the Cassie Lang BAF recently released in the Quantumania wave. The diaphragm paired with a lower ab crunch was VERY surprising on that figure, but now I'm wondering if they designed Cassie and this Giant-Man around the same time. The face in particularly looks REALLY similar, particularly the eyes.

That presupposes we actually unlock the faceplates.
I'm optimistic about funding and maybe the first tier on the last day but I don't think that last tier is happening unless something changes whereas I think a figure in its place would have funded.
I think the faceplates may be self-defeating because I'm not fully convinced either will unlock whereas something else in the same spot might have.

Every successful Haslab so far has not only met, but far exceeded every stretch goal, outside the Skystriker which missed a single stretch goal of two figures. I'd safely say everything will be met here, and I'm glad they're primarily goals that improve the core product this time around.
I agree that the Skrull or zombie heads are marginally more useful than the Doom head for Galactus. Faceplates with different expressions? Awesome.
Giant-Man:
4,422 / 10,000 (+129) 44.22% of funding goal with 40d 16h left.
There's at least one more large character that would probably drum up more interest than Giant-Man, assuming all things such as price, tiers, etc. Are equal: Apocalypse.
I think an Apocalypse HasLab would do well, better than this one. I wouldn't make him this tall, and I would certainly pack him in with some figures (Horsemen? Ozymandias?), but I think he would be a winner.
I'm skeptical that Apocalypse would do that well, but that's at least partially because of my own preference: I don't want a huge Apocalypse. The BAF or slightly bigger is exactly where I like him. I usually wait for announcements or reliable rumors to come along before selling off older figures, but I got rid of the giant Toy Biz BAF years ago when I realized I just wasn't interested in displaying him like that. Of course that might not be the majority opinion, but there's no way of knowing. I'd definitely want any Horsemen or other figures like Ozymandias he might come with, so I'd likely end up buying it anyway.
I love Apocalypse, but I'm also not sure I need a big one. Size isn't integral to his power design, and I already have the Toy Biz BAF, so any Haslab would have to be spectacular to jump at it.
But he does seem like the only remaining large figure that has any chance of succeeding. Fin Fang Foom just isn't going to happen given that he hasn't been popular at all in the comics and is unlikely to ever appear in the MCU.
I’d love to see Foom offered through Haslab but I reckon if he were to stand any chance, there would need to be figure tiers. Someone like Neo-Classic Iron Man with the fat boots and whatever version of Mandarin.
Personally I'd likely pass on a HasLab Foom simply because I don't have the real estate for something as big as he'd be. Honestly, I'm at a loss as to what HasLab could come next, let alone one I'd be interested in.
Simonson Surtur with Twilight...? Totally in, and that may actually be it. I likely wouldn't back vehicles. Dioramas maybe. Multi-figure packs...? Depending on the group, yeah.
I would pass on Foom and Apocalypse as well. I would like to see them do Goliath (Hank) and Atlas but they probably won't so soon after Giant Man.
I'd still love a Fantastic Car, though that really COULD be done at retail if they just do the design that's 4 idenitcal cars that combine into one. You just sell one car with a stand, and people who want the whole thing can buy 4. No reason that should cost more than $40-50 per car. Especially without a figure.
