This is being offered as a pre-order through EB Games/Zing here in Australia (they've done the same with other Haslab products) at AU$600.

Bear in mind that they sold Galactus at $800 and he was a third taller and came with multiple figures as a bonus.

Not sure they've nailed the price on this one. 😛

Every time I think about how badly we have it in Canada for Haslabs (and Pulse in general) I get a reminder that you guys in Australia and New Zealand really are getting bent over for these things.   For me in Ontario, Canada is comes out to around $370Cdn for Giant-Man.  Granted that is also due to the exchange rate and the ridiculous $48US shipping to get it to Canada when Hasbro has a distribution/production (not "real" production just packaging stuff) location in Canada already.

But $600AU is crazy (the Canadian dollar and Australian dollar are basically at par with each other).  I would definitely pass on Giant-Man at $600Cdn.   Hell I easily passed on Eternia from Mattel Creations because it worked out to about $1220Cdn to ship to me in Canada.

Anyway,

Oops, busy morning today, here is the late update:

Giant-Man:

4,293 / 10,000 (+178) 42.93% of funding goal with 41d 13h left.

Did anyone make one of those fancy charts for how Giant-Man is doing compared to other Haslabs at the same time?  Seems like getting to 50% funded by the end of the week would be a positive sign.

How many figures did Galactus end up coming with? 3? I think 200 bucks is a lot to pay for a trio of figures and the little bells and whistles they gave that release, but that could just be me.

Galactus was also bigger and had lights (and sounds?).

Without the potential of additional tiers being unveiled, it will likely be a slow climb to the goal all month. That's assuming the overall sentiment toward the project doesn't turn sour, again.

The only real question is whether this funds so well toward the end there is a special bonus tier... which I don't see happening. I suspect this will do lower numbers than the Sentinel did - probably less than Galactus, too.

Yes, hence the "bells and whistles" comment. It seems most collectors could take or leave lights and sounds with their action figures, and for 200 bucks (or however you want to account for that) I'd personally go without. I don't think the size difference matters much either when factoring in the cost since I don't see anyone here wishing Giant Man were actually taller.

I would have been happy to not have lights and voices for Sentinel and Galactus and just save that extra cash!

I'm no production expert, but Sentinel and Galactus aren't just bigger - they have more individual pieces comprising them as well.

Did Galactus outsell the Sentinel, or vice versa? Definitely don't see Giant-Man doing those numbers, but since he is reasonably priced maybe that will get a lot of people to jump in. I'm suuure showing off a FA Wasp at PulseCon will juice the numbers, HINT HINT.

I think this funds, but it’ll be a slow slog until the last 3-5 days and then FOMO maybe gets the first tier.

Given the economics of these HasLabs and the waning popularity of Marvel in recent years, I’m not sure Hasbro should keep trying HasLabs. I don’t think there’s another massive character that would get funded, and they’re not going to try vehicles again.

Maybe something like a Danger Room diorama could get funded?

It's surprising the number of people still talking about Hasbro getting the wrong message from the last Haslab. They didn't. The problem was the price. They "fixed" that problem by eliminating the tiered figures. $249.99 for Hank & Wasp tiers would've likely yield the same results as the Engine of Greed.

Fin Fang Foom is the last "big guy" that I would be entirely confident in putting through this model. There are plenty more that I personally would go in on but I wouldn't be willing to bet the farm that Ultimo, Terminus, the Living Tribunal, etc etc would be able to get enough support.

If Giant Man is fully funded, I can easily see them going for Fin Fang Foom.

I'm not sure I agree with you.   But also,  if one of the figures was included instead  of the extra face plates then they could include two figures and price it at $225.    I think it would do better, not worse, if that were the case.

Also, one of the things to keep in mind is that $25 per figure is a retail sales price.   If the figures included as extras were not wholly unique new tools then  Hasbro likely makes a profit on the figure if they sell it for $15.    They don't get $25 per figure in their pocket on figures sold by Target or Amazon.

It's all moot, since there are no figures included,  but I don't agree with the assertion you make.

Now they have the basics of a 24" body how cost effective would it be to make a Living Tribunal eliminating all the detail on the body and casting a new head? I don't have detailed knowledge of how that prices out like most of us. The basic work is done on a base male body at that scale though.

The fact that Marvel Legends are also $24.99 on their own damn website says it all.

Either you agree or disagree with my take, it's very obvious that their goal was to keep the price low. No one except Hasbro knows how they price their Haslabs, despite people on the forum talking like they do. A huge difference to market a $199 price point vs $225.
