Choosing one or the other wouldn't work because now you have to tool both things for half the numbers of each.Β  Β And they aren't the same price.Β  Β A fully tooled skrull head as opposed to a zombie face plate do not cost the same to make -Β  so that wouild also make one choice more costly than the other.

Β

They aren't going to throw in the Skrull head because the campaign didn't hit the mark.Β  Β If you score an 89 on an exam your teacher isn't giving you an A because you got "so close".Β  Β  Β If you miss the mark, you miss the mark.Β  Β  As others have said it would set a bad precedent that no funding goal is really real.

Β

I'm glad it funded and cruised past the first "reward" tier.Β  Β

Maybe they could open it up for an extra time period to get some stragglers and update the legal language for the 10/27 event. I'd bet a lot of people will back even in a couple hours now that they know it's happening.Β

The real main difference in BAF completion back in the day is you couldn’t just jump online necessarily and order a full wave in one go. You had to go hunt that thing paleo style.Β

I’m pretty sure I preordered that whole wave, from something like CMD Store or something, maybe even BBTS, because there was zero chance of me finding the whole wave at a Walmart. I don’t know how the online store I ordered from got their hands on complete sets, but it was definitely the only way for me. I still have and plan to keep my original BAF. Just like I’ve kept all of my Toy Biz MLs. But they live in bins in my attic, for me to know I have and very occasionally visit for old times’ sake. One of those visits may be coming soon.

Β

Β

I got mine from that place in Canada called...what was it?...Outer Reaches? Outer Planet? I can't remember.

I'd also like to throw out there that I don't think the name would be a problem, or at least not from any serious person. It's clearly a play on "Fee-fi-fo-fum" and not derogatory, and contrary to popular belief most people aren't out searching for things to be outraged by.

You just inadvertently illustrated why the name is a problem--people will just guess why it's like that, and as you just did they're almost guaranteed to guess wrong.Β  China will immediately guess wrong just as they did with the MCU Shang-Chi movie.Β  Most people will think it's a play on the infamous slur against the Chinese people and their language that I won't go into here that many or most of us who are 40 and above have heard many times during our lives.Β  That's not at all correct, but that won't stop large portions of the media from doing it.Β  Ryan and Dan won't risk that kind of media coverage.

The reality of the name is that we don't have to guess where it came from because Stan Lee told us--it's a play on the title of a 1934 movie adapted from a long-running play that Stan had seen called Chu Chin Chow.

Thanks for posting this - here's the Wiki that has the quote from the 2005 interview where he commented on it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fin_Fang_Foom#cite_note-3

Even better, honestly, that it is attributable to a source. I always find it funny how Stan can't seem to remember so much of his time working on these landmark characters and teams, then pulls random stuff out like this. What are you referring to with "China" guessing wrong about the Shang-Chi movie?

I try not to take much interest in discussing about what other personalities are saying about the goings-on, but I do check Marvelous News for updates. I found their editorials on the Haslabs the last few years a bit vexing, which is not worthy of commentary, but this post today by an admin got to me:

He made up a theory about how international backers are added (that doesn't match what we've been told) and ran with it. Is there any reason to think the numbers were being manipulated or doctored, and not just the typical and expected last-minute surges? It's frustrating that he is decrying how divisive these Haslabs are while he's the one spreading baseless rumors.

@h-bird Baseless indeed. I typically don't take anything that dude says seriously. He seems pretty disconnected. I had ONE conversation with Ryan Ting in person, and I feel more informed than he comes across.

That's one hell of an assumption. "Most people" will think it's the name of a weird fictional dragon. Ninety-nine percent of people won't think twice.

That's Jay C posting that?Β  The guy who also does Youtube reviews?

Not a good look for whoever posted that.Β  😳Β  I agree with him--it leaves a bad taste in my mouth, too, when I make up a conspiracy theory that is open enough to be confirmed by some of the facts I incorporated into the narrative.Β  I avoid it by just never making up conspiracy theories.Β  🙄Β

They have an inherent problem with giving backers the Skull head without having it unlocked. That would give future backers a false sense of not having to reach the goals for tiers. If they do it once, it will be expected in the future.Β

At the other side of the spectrum, how many people will potentially cancel all or part of their orders now that the army building aspect has been taken away? Without a Skull head, some may not want more than 2 or however many they ordered.

It's a tricky situation that I certainly don't envy them for having to choose what to do.Β

Agreed, and unfortunately this community has shown them how petty and insulting it will be, you don't reward a tantruming toddler

Regarding the Marvelous News post - If Hasbro was manipulating the numbers, they probably would gone over 14,000 to make this an 100% win.

Hogwash. That guy's wack.

I was a naysayer but ended up backing from sheer FOMO.Β  Glad ol Hank made it.

I'd be surprised if China suddenly took issue with this character, considering he has been a part of comics for a long time, AND recently featured in a video game that was fairly popular. If his continued use in comics and his appearance in a game that had over 8 million players didn't spark any controversy, I don't think it will suddenly become an issue in the media if Hasbro makes a toy.Β

I wonder if they could give backers a choice of Skrull head OR Zombie head? It wouldn’t make much difference to me, but I would probably choose Skrull head even though I have the MU Giant Skrull. I don’t like the zombie head because usually zombies have white out irises. The visible/normal-ish irises throw me off. And the other zombies we have aren’t comic Marvel Zombies, they’re MCU What If Zombies, so they technically wouldn’t work together. Zombie Giant Man would work well with those Marvel Select Zombies though, and I don’t have them.

Β

No, they used the same flesh color for the zombie figure as they did for the What if figures. This faceplate is 100% made to go with the What If Figures. The comic version also looks really different, particularily the teeth.Β

Β

For reference, here's the comic version:

The MCU's Ant-Man was the Scariest Marvel ZombieΒ

Cameron Hodge (X-Tinction Agenda look) is a really interesting idea, and that could work as a Haslab.

For Apocalypse, I think the idea of mostly building it around his Horsemen, (who they are never going to do on their own) would be interesting, but the problem with that is there really isn't a definitive verison of the Horsemen. I GUESS they could just do the first appearance version, but those designs aren't that great, and they'd have to do them with their mounts (the mounts is part of why this would need to be a Haslab).

It's a cool and interesting idea, I'm not certain how connected people are to those specific designs for the Horsemen. But if they did all 4 with mounts and a larger than 6 inch APocalypse, (maybe 12-14 inches? Not sure there) to go with them would probably do well. Then they could release some of the more famouse Horsemen at retail or con exclusives to go with him, particularily the famous ones who got converted: Gambit, Wolverine, Hulk, as well as Holocaust (though they'd have to call him Nemesis or something else) Also the original fourth one was Arch Angel, whom they have already done, I guess they could re-do him, or just re-use the same figure (though people who have that figure won't love that) or just do the 3 Horsemen with someone else in there as a fourth?

@effigy Ok. I don’t remember seeing Giant Man in the zombie episode or D+ What If, and he’s wearing a comic costume. So I assumed based on that that he was not part of the What If episodes. The skin match just seemed like a coincidence since many Zombies are depicted with bluish gray skin.
