No pain no gain
I don't know why many expected a huge surge in the last 24 hours, that only happens once it's actually funded. With no actual desirable tiers, a slow climb makes sense.
How close to the deadline did they offer the extension for the Rancor?
I know, I know, I know. "Forget the fat lady! You're obsessed with the fat lady!"
But I STILL ain't heard no fat lady!

No extension was ever offered for the Rancor. If you meant to say Unicron then I don't think that was extended the day it ended. It was less than a week before they extended, but I don't recall how long. I'm sure a Google search could uncover how long it took for them to extend it.
Update...7,998 out if 10,000 with 11 hours to go. It just needs 182 backers per hour to make it over the line. I'm crossing my fingers for those that want it to happen. Good luck to everyone.
If Giant-Man fails, I honestly can’t see me coming back to a HasLab again. Barring some kind of team set I want, or a campaign where they lock a desired figure behind a tier, there’s really no other character I have a burning desire to spend this kind of money on. Maybe a Simonson Surtur, but I don’t see that happening.
Like it or not, I think part of the reason this campaign failed was because they did not include desired figures locked behind tiers. As was stated above fans can be petty. We want to be able to have that exclusive figure that nobody else has so that we can wave it in front of everybody’s face. I hate that as much as the next guy, but it seems like this may be an example of that practice being a necessity to these campaigns.
It's funny, the Hasbro team did exactly what people said they wanted, which was to not gate single figures behind an expensive HasLab, but now we're saying we want them to? I think the reality is, we want them to be included for "FREE" with the HasbLab. We also want them so we can buy multiples and resell the figures. Figures don't always move because there's fan demand, they move because of speculative interest. There's an entire secondary market in the collecting game, and whether people believe it or not, are the part of the driving force in total sales. Like cockroaches, you hate them, but you also need them as part of the ecosystem.
What Hasbro should have done was given us Wasp as the final tier. So the model would have been:
Giant Man + white tentacles (at 10k)
Tier 1: face plate 2 (at 12k)
Tier 2: face plate 3 (at 14k)
Tier 3: Wasp (at 16k)
Keep the price at $199.99. Not sure if this campaign would be more successful, but my armchair QBing here would assume that by lifting the max required, it helps offset any margin lost with including a single figure but keeping the price under $200 to give backers the illusion of value.

For what it's worth, over on Insta Steve Evans has acknowledged there is an issue with the Australian outlet Zing Pop Culture being down prematurely. Maybe if there is a continued issue, this could justify an extension.

Dwight said in several interviews he thinks it's 50/50 -- half of people thought figures should be included at a higher price, half didn't and preferred a lower price. There's no way for them to win with that even a split.

That's where they missed the key point of that argument. It wasn't about not including figures, it was about including certain figures. Mephisto is a key figure and never should have been locked into a crowd funded item that a lot of people weren't interested in. Same goes for Goblin Queen Madelyne Pryor and Daimon Hellstrom. They could have included a 6" version of Hank Pym in this suit and I don't think anyone would have complained. Most fans aren't clamoring for a 6" Giant Man. They certainly shouldn't have included Wasp, she's an integral figure in her own right.

Virtually every choice they've made with this Haslab is one that is the result of complaints with the EoV Haslab.
There's no tiered figures. It's cheaper. It features a character with a lengthy history AND is a founding Avengers.
You vote with your wallet. If this doesn't get funded, then I don't know of another Marvel Haslab that could be done. If they do vehicles, they'll probably be 1/18 scale since size is a complaint about this one.
