Hopefully they will make The Green Crossbow guy and use this body for a decent Ice-Man and get that right the first time instead of the obligatory 3rd times the charm triple dip cash grab.
I don't pick up many Legends lately, but Crystar has me excited.Ā If they added a Warbow figure, that would be an amazing extra to go with him.Ā Crystar is possibly my favorite Marvel Legends reveal in years.
Warbow is such an awesome design.Ā Green crystal bald guy with an eyepatch, bandolier, and crossbow.Ā Hopefully, he's in the works.Ā Or at Crystar does well enough, Hasbro decides to make some companion figures for him.
Ā
Hasbro can absolutely make figures of ROM, Acroyear and Captain Rann right now, just like they make GI Joe -Ā they just couldn't put them in Legends without an agreement from Marvel.
I believe Marvel created and owns Rann, Bug, and Marionette, amongst other named characters, in the initial comics.Ā Baron Karza, Acroyear, Biotron and Microtron were toys and not owned by Marvel.Ā So Marvel created some of their own characters to fill out the story and even continued to use Bug in other comics like the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Hasbro hasn't been able to figure out how to relaunch Micronauts, ROM, Visionaries, Inhumanoids, or MASK.Ā MASK in particular seems easy.Ā Spin it off from the Transformers universe.Ā Human criminals acquire Transformers technology and make transforming vehicles.Ā MASK is formed to stop the criminals.Ā Ā I'd like to see some of these properties work in to a Hasbro Legends line, even if they have to call the line something else and differentiate the packaging from Marvel Legends.Ā Not sure what kind of retailer support it would have.Ā But I imagine Fan Channel places may bite.

So I thought Rann was off the table for Marvel because his look was based on one of the toy Space Glider designs, a name they even used for him in early materials...
Ā
So it may be that the name Arcturus Rann and some of the subsequent comic looks belong to Marvel... I'm not 100% clear on that bit.Ā Ā Bug and Marionette absolutely belong to Marvel as entirely their creation.
Ā
But man, some Marvel Legends style figures of Acroyear, Biotron, Baron Karza,Ā Space Glider, Centaurus, Membros and Repto...Ā Ā I would dig on that SO hard.
Ā
Ā
I'm just going to take a victory lab for being the one who started the thread on the old forums about Crystar and included him in all my wishlists.
I am ready to own Crystar, day one pre-order for me.
The original was one of my favorite figures as a kid.Ā This is hitting the nostalgia buttons HARD!
Ā
Same here. Had the original waaaay back in the day. Matter fact, I had just about the entire collection. Wouldn't mind Marvel Legends going all in on this.Ā
Ā
I'd love it if this led to a reprinting of the whole series in collected form. Gimme an omnibus, please.
@tenime it's still pretty easy to come by secondhand. Even the issue that Danzig collectors all have was easy to acquire and for pretty cheap. The run was only 11 issues.
I would guess Hasbro plans for Crystar to be a one-off, sort of like their Drizzt figures. Obviously, if it sells well that will probably tempt them to do other characters from the line. It would be kind of cool to have a slow build, maybe a figure or two per year until it fizzles out. I'm still curious to see how this one gets solicited. It definitely has the feel of a Pulse exclusive, possibly even PulseCon, but maybe the response to the reveal convinces them to go Fan Channel? That would definitely be my preference.
Eh, I don't like floppies for a handful of reasons, the biggest being there's no nice spine for book shelves. 😕Ā
IĀ may still have my #1 from childhood, or at the very least I may have replaced it with a nicer copy awhile back when feeling nostalgic.
