Why would they bother making more BAFs now that they know they can release a BAF sized figure and sell one for $35-75? Meanwhile charging $25 regular figures without including a BAF part?

Exactly. I think they learned with the success of the retro card waves that they don't need to include BAF pieces. They'll likely still do them a couple of times per years because they're known for it and to make figures they wouldn't make otherwise... but even those are likely to eventually be re-sold again later as deluxes (like the rumored Venompool re-release). I love the BAFs but I've also bought a lot of figures over the years that I wouldn't have in order to complete the BAF. OF course witthout BAFs we likely never would have gotten characters like Armadillo, the Mindless Ones, Bonebreaker, Strong Guy, Rintrah, etc.

Unfortunate but true.

They’ll keep making BAFs for the reason mentioned before: some larger characters are too obscure to warrant a deluxe single release. So far, the vast majority of the deluxe releases have been of well known characters or someone tied to a mass media property, with a few exceptions like Detroit Steel and the Super-Adaptoid (both of whom were easy mold reuses). Characters like Cho’d, the bigger Serpent Society members or Ursa Major had a much lower chance of ever getting a dedicated one off release.

It really ought to be a figure of Jack Kirby though.

I'm in for all the great suggestions for Attuma, Champion, Skurge, Dragon Man, Lockjaw....

But "Jack Kirby" wins this conversation.

I truly doubt the Kirby estate and Marvel could cooperate at that level right now.

Isaiah Bradley would be a good choice for BaF 100

Zabu is #98! Two more to go, 100 is pretty much a lock for this year.

He wouldn't even be in the "top 100". The last thing people need is a regular figure as BAF.

Lockjaw would be the most fitting BAF for #100 since we've been asking for him forever and he's been in either the #1 or #2 spot in multiple Top 10 polls for years.

Another stupid idea is Dragon Man as BAF. Why? He would take half the budget of the wave. Most of the wave would then consist of reuse and repaints. You're so eager to buy mediocre figures just to build an entire BAF? Some collectors' ideas are worth ignoring...

No, Dragon Man is perfect for a deluxe figure. Otherwise, we're in for another Ch'od.

Eternity as BAF 100 for the Strange Tales wave.

He'd need a dedicated sculpt, and he's pretty big, so I think Isaiah is a solid candidate. He wouldn't get the right treatment as a regular carded figure. They can't even make USAgent big enough as a single release, and they already have the parts.

I would gladly take Dragon Man as the BAF in a Fan Channel wave realizing that all the regular figures would be heavy reuse. That could potentially get us a lot of needed FF related figures:

Crystal - traditional yellow costume or FF uniform

Triton

Wizard

Trapster

Sharon Ventura Ms. Marvel in human form

She-Hulk in the FF uniform

Doombot

Mad Thinker

Lyja

Wyatt Wingfoot

New Black Bolt

New Medusa

Maximus

Diablo

Puppet Master

Jim Hammond Human Torch

I think Dragon Man would need to be HasLab sized if they did him right -- he's meant to be about 15 feet tall. That's a subject for another conversation though, because I don't think he'd be able to carry a crowdfund by himself.

When I think about the symbolic significance of a 100th BAF, I imagine a few different thematic angles to celebrate this milestone:

1. Fan Thank-You: I really like the Lockjaw idea for all the reasons mentioned.

2. Celebrating Classic Marvel (FF): Marvel's first family, and recently cast for the MCU. They could debut a brand new Thing sculpt, making an ultimate version in the style used for the ML 20th Anniversary figures. And of course reuse it relentlessly for future releases.

3. Celebrating Classic Marvel (Spider-Man): Marvel's most iconic hero. They've gone pretty deep with all of the unmade Spidey options, but a Spider-Slayer with JJJ's face could be fun.

4. Celebrating Classic Marvel (X-Men): Marvel's most popular team. The X-Men's Mimic would be cool, representing a mash-up of the original team's powers.

5. Cheeky: What about the Collector? Classic 616 style. He's definitely not BAF sized, so might be disappointing from that perspective, but as a thematic choice it's pretty deliciously meta. If they wanted to plus him up, maybe they could include parts for a chamber to "capture" heroes.

6. Spanning the Whole Universe: The Watcher, 616 style. He's seen it all! This theme could also align with my left-field, gonzo choice: Eternity! Primarily for what the name represents, but also because it would look super cool. Hey, sparkly translucent semi-giant figure! Potential parts reuse or sharing with the Watcher!

I know I talked about Jack Kirby (which I'd love), but I agree with what's been discussed, and can't imagine that his estate would ever allow it.
