Yeah I passed on building Chod that is just too lazy and way off the character for me. I knew when I saw the proto for Super Adaptoid that there was zero chance the wings were going to be added later, otherwise I was okay with the reuse. If it ever goes on deep enough clearance, I will probably get one and craft wings for it.

I complained plenty about this on the old forums, but for me it's the headsculpts of Mar-Vell and Quasar.

For Mar-Vell, it's based on the artwork of Ed Mcguinness. From Secret Invasion. So, he's not even Mar-Vell, he's a Skrull. That figure was total garbage anyways, so I'm just hoping and praying we get a redo soon enough with a Harding headsculpt, a gloss finish, and any actual accessories.

For Quasar, his was done by Harding, but Harding is a total geek for the even further classic looks.. So his headsculpt was very explicitly based on Paul Ryan's art, when it was Greg Capullo's costume and Paul Ryan never drew it in the Quasar run. Should have had the Capullo prettyboy look! Also the neck looks short and fat with the cape overlay. Hasbro ought to make a Marvel Boy with a Capullo head so this can be fixed.

I'll leave these to specific threads about figures.  I mean, otherwise I could fill pages with my issues with how figures come out.

This thread is like a beacon for complaining, which is 80% of the internet (that is not porn.)

Sasquatch is too short, he’s usually towering over the Hulk same with Xemnu

To be fair, complaining is great. Have you tried it?

Is this a trick question?

I mean, 80% of my own interactions online would be considered airing of grievances.  😆

AOA Iceman being the best Iceman we have so far and even he is based off a continuation storyline not how he actually appeared in AOA.

Reissuing certain figures and somehow making them worse.  ie: Spiderman's Amazing Friends Iceman when compared to the already lackluster Retro Wave pearlescent one with the line down the middle of his face.

One and done characters like Maggott and Bonebreaker who get a single face that is one very specific emotion.  As we're not likely to get such characters any time soon, goofy smile isn't what I was asking for when I was campaigning for these characters.

Seemingly every other toy company besides Hasbro increasing prices, but at least you get more included, be it additional hands or weapons or some sort of prop for the figure.  More for less and then getting mad when fans ask about it at conventions seems out of touch, faceless corporation or not.

Cel-shading with non-cel-shading figures getting reissued directly after.  I shouldn't have to war-game and try to anticipate the means by which the company I collect from is going to try to screw me.  "Hey, it's part of the fun of collecting!" says the corporate spokehole.  No it's not.  "We're a billion dollar corporation, we can't afford it, it's not in the budget," falls flat when you see what other much smaller companies are providing.

Honestly, the lack of alt heads (or any bare minimum of accessories) is something I'll always be pretty unhappy with. It is very important to me that specific characters exude their own personalities in their headsculpts, it adds a whole new level to the figure, but I do think every figure should come with an expressive headsculpt alongside a neutral one.

@onetwelfthghoul That doesn't really work in Ch'od's case because he has newly sculpted inaccurate hands - Abomination's hands don't have the plates on top

Who are the 2 in purple, that the Punisher is fighting? I kinda want them in toy, now. 🙂

Kitty's (NOT big curly 80's hair) Excalibur look.

Just doesn't do the job...

Yep, that still disappoints me. The big hair was a key part of her look.

I'm sue if I dwelled on it I could come up with some others, but I'll go with that Loki now that you mention it.  I'd love me a classic Loki.......that has effort put into it.  But those tampo scales and the shinny plastic make it look dollar store all the way.  Even the rerelease with the fixed cockeyes didn't sell me.

I actually think that Green Goblin is Hasbro's best GG. (HASBRO'S best.  The BEST best GG is still Toybiz).

There's never been a good Loki headsculpt - the ToyBiz ones were closest, but the costume wasn't classic. Hate the recent ones, too brightly colored and the re-use is just not working.

Speaking of re-use, my biggest annoyance in the last ten years is the OG Captain Marvel - soft headsculpt and the damn nega-bands are so loose on the wrists they never stop sliding to his elbows. OG ToyBiz is much better, at least from sculpt standpoint.

@yojoebro82

I don’t know. I personally think this Green Goblin looks pretty good to me.

The problem with that first Hasbro GG is that the metallic looking green plastic they used for his legs and arms is very brittle. They used the same stuff for Cobra. I have two of the Cobra figures and both of them had a peg sheer off at the thigh joint. I was always just waiting for the same thing to happen to Green Goblin. So, as soon as the Retro Carded GG came out I sold off the old one before it could break as well.

@ninjak

If Hasbro didn't, for whatever reason, choose to dilate the hell out of those pupils I think this would no doubt be the closest there is to a definitive Green Goblin right now. Even still, the ankle pivot, interchangeable Norman Osborn head, brighter colors, and actually having some head tilt means I still think I like it more than the TB version but it's a lot closer race than it really should be.

I'd love for Hasbro to make an end all be all Green Goblin on an updated body (and with some interchangeable hands for god's sake), but it might be awhile before they decide to take another crack at it. I'd bet they probably think that the VHS one is 'good enough' to keep the character accessible to new fans.
