That they put symbiote Spidey on a different body than the retro carded animated Spidey was also a really baffling decision that I don't get.

Hasbro does explain stuff like this as a budget and resources thing. They have $X to spend making a wave. It’s possible that using one body type might push the cost up above the budget. Or it could be that the tooling for a specific body part is in use by the factory at the same time to make a different figure they want to release at the same time.

Well, I doubt it was a budget thing since the RYV Spidey body they put symbiote Spider-Man on requires more tooling than the First Appearance Spidey body.

If the molds for the FA Spider-Man body were really too busy at the time, I feel like they should have just waited until they could actually do it right rather than make the sub-line internally inconsistent. Easier said than done, I know.

It ain't the figures themselves but the people that have no idea how the human body works so they bend the lower knee hinge first.  All you're posing is a dude that's fallen to the floor screaming as his sub-patellar tendon tears off.

It bugs me that Molecule Man isn't shorter. It bugged me that Spymaster didn't have pouches on his legs, that Viper didn't have shorter, "swoopier" hair and that Tarantula's mask/bandana was blue instead of black. I was able to modify the latter three figures to rectify my issues, but MM's height still bugs me.

Also, wish the upcoming Luke Cage/Power Man's legs were blue instead of black. Having said all that, none of these issues stopped me from buying them.

The one that did bother me enough to pass on was the Super Adaptoid's many inaccuracies. That and the price point; if it drops a large chunk in price, I'll pick one up.

Exactly this as well! Would've loved a Super Adaptoid, but at that price point for a mostly reused Icons Captain America or whatever, and the missing parts, I'm going to hold off until he goes on sale somewhere. Weird that he's completely sold out at Amazon, though, at least for Prime pricing.

Technically, the blue bandana on Tarantula is not inaccurate.

His Bandana was colored blue in his earliest appearances in the mid 70’s.

And it was still blue into the 80’s as well.

I don't think was changed to black until the 90's (but I could be mistaken there). So truthfully either blue or black is accurate to the source material. Just depends on your preference.

Personally, I was pleasantly surprised by the blue bandana, as it gives the figure his more old school classic look.

The Power Rangers line in particular has been a frustrating one.

For Marvel I HATE the no neck lazy retro Black Cat they did. She one of my favorite characters and I can barely look at her.

I kitbashed one that I love long before her release...

...I've since given her heels to Mystique and she has flat feet now.

For GI Joe both Scarlett & Baroness need completely redone figures (Scarlett's is all but confirmed with that Glenda body though).

Interesting, I always (and even now looking at the panels you shared) "read" that as black even in the early appearances since the blue is the same color as the highlights of his boots and other black elements of his costume - and the Punisher for that matter. I guess it could be chalked up to the coloring limitations of the era.

The "Classic" Sabretooth was just wrong in so many ways, I just stick with my custom.

Anton the original Tarantula had a bluish black one, and Luis had a black one. At least from what I can tell/see/find.

I would say in comics language that is meant to be blue. Comics are rarely a literal visual signifying medium. No one's arm when it swings shoots lines out of the back and Wonder Woman's hair isn't highlighted blue. Those Scorpion panels would be more highlighted blue but mostly black like his boots are for me to read it as black. But then of course its is also more important to see details on the face.

I sorta like it blue. Little more contrast.

Kitty's (NOT big curly 80's hair) Excalibur look.

Just doesn't do the job...

The Silvermane in the five pack wasn't awesome.

Off the top of my head:

reiterating Chod’s number of fingers (and lack of paint details)

everything about the Retro carded Loki, why that buck in particular?!

the height of several (in particular female) characters looking at you Hellfire Emma, Kitty from the Juggernaut wave, Black Cat w/heels

Vertigo from the 5 pack, seems especially phoned in, that Sue head repaint is egregious

And neither recent Geeen Goblins come remotely close to the sculpt, expression and deco of the OG Toybiz Bring on the Bad Guys figure

Yeah, that's how I see it too. I read Tarantula's mask as blue because it's mostly blue with some black shading. If it was supposed to be black it would be mostly black with some blue highlights. Like his boots and gloves and the giant tarantula symbol on his costume.
