I must say I'm a little disappointed with this X-Men Build-A-Figure wave. I wanted an update of the classic Age Of Apocalypse version of Nemesis. Somebody should talk to the Marvel Legends team at Hasbro about giving us a deluxe AOA Nemesis figure, or a 4-pack box set with him, Abyss, Mikhail Rasputin, and Sinister, all in their AOA appearances.

You can take heart in knowing that there are those, like myself, who are nothing but a squeaky wheel about their desire for certain characters, among them more AOA stuff.  While I try to be respectful about it, I'm full court press on certain characters.  I'm sure the 3 gentlemen of Hasbro Marvel are more than aware of this, which is why you're getting Uncanny X-Force before AOA Nightcrawler and Genocide/Nemesis/Non-Holocaust before actual AOA Holocaust.  The only figure I think is questionable for them doing might be Mikhail as he seems to have the least fan outcry over him.  But then again who thought we'd ever get an AOA Colossus.

Beyond that, I didn't realize that Dwight spilled the beans on Forearm from the SavageLand / Mutant Liberation Force.

As unpopular as AOA Mikhail Rasputin is, collectors will need to add him to their marvel legends collection to round out the AOA Horsemen team, and the AOA horsemen team consist of Abyss, Mikhail Rasputin, Holocaust/Nemesis, and Sinister.

I'm on board for AoA.  I really like Gambit a lot and they're getting close enough to think completion is possible.  I hope we get those Horsemen, but hope Bishop is next.  I don't think he's ever had a figure and I really like the design and character.

Is it too much to ask for an actual AOA Blink head pack-in with their next AOA figure?

Wouldn't be surprised if that's being saved for an eventual AoA boxset Blink re-release. She's an anchor being for just such a pack.

It has literally been decades since I’ve read this story. Why is Mikhail unpopular?

@jtmarsh said that Mikhail has the least fan outcry over him. Either that or collectors and fans don't talk about him much. Personally I would like an AOA Mikhail Rasputin figure from marvel legends.

I don't remember him, but kinda do too now from getting wrapped up in this again.  From looking at reference art how would they even tackle Abyss??  Is he hollow?  Would like to see Apocalypse's henchmen get their due though.

Speaking of lesser known 90s X-baddies I have always wanted Onslaught's herald "Post."  Will take him and I think there was another.

Not part of this wave, but very glad to see Savage Land Xavier. Bummer he is a Target exclusive. The new Cerebro helmet is a good addition. Though some new telepathy effects would have been nice.

This is a pretty good wave. They all look good.

AoA Gambit is cool. Wish he could've had some new charge effects.

Marrow is a surprise. The bones look great. Wish she had an alt head with forehead bones and menacing face.

Cyclops looks really, really good. Very good. I wasn't interested in getting the original 5 in X-Factor suits, as they weren't really on my radar as a 90s kid. But that new optic blast, plus the fact that this costume design and bright colors look amazing in toy form, have made this guy a must-have for me.

X-Force Nightcrawler is an expected repaint and looks good. But I'll wait for a classic Age of Apocalypse Nightcrawler:

I'm totally thrilled to see Husk. Been waiting 30 years for a figure of her. She looks great, and I love the "shrrip" accessory. I wish she could have included an interchangeable arm and leg to match her metallic face. But she is most welcome and a must-have.

I can't wait for more Generation X. It's taking way too long to complete teams. I really hope it doesn't take years to complete Gen X. They could knock them out in one wave or a couple of box sets.

1. Emma Frost in pantsuit

2. Penance

3. Synch

4. Skin

5. Jubilee

6. Chamber in Gen X uniform and jacket

7. Emplate

BAF Mondo

(Chamber custom by Morning_Woof from Marvelous News)

It has mostly to do with Mikhail pretty much doing his own thing during much of AOA.  Of course Sinister always does this, but Mikhail's activities largely dealt with the human resistance and non X-Men related heroes like surviving members of the F4 and Avengers and how he could manipulate and rule over that segment of the population.  Numerous sites characterize him as "the forgotten Horseman" for this reason.  And while I'm not opposed to having him; if we're getting a trickle of AOA figures that we've been told didn't sell like they'd hoped in the other two lines, lets assume we get maybe 1-2 AOA figures a year, it's going to take a very long time to get through the X-Men everyone still wants before we get to other characters like DeadMan Wade or Mikhail.  I think Mikhail would made a decent BAF in the event that he might not sell well on his own, but again, how long is that going to take to get to if AOA figures are just here and there, or the Hasbro boys are really only committed to the main standouts that they've yet to do?  I'd like to get at least the Astonishing team done, Havok, Bishop, Angel, Sinister, an accurate AOA Blink, and a few others before they stop considering more.  Abyss would be my longshot hope that they'd attempt, as he's basically like a vortex held together by ribbons.  I think if they made him a BAF character whose chest piece wraps around other figures (strands that look like Sinister's cape in the 616) they could probably make it work.  I just have no idea how well it would stand up.  If we get a Mikhail, great, but I don't know how likely it is as we don't even have a 616 version yet and he's usually not showing up in most people's yearly Top 10 either.

It's actually a different four-armed character that's part of the Savage Land Mutates - Barbarus. But that makes even more sense considering they could get two releases out of a bulky four-armed body. I dunno if that's really a slip-up or just a name drop, but it's great that they're even aware of it. Definitely shows they've been looking deep into the roster.

Working my way through Uncanny X-Force now, and the appreciation for this BAF is real. Way more excited for him and Kurt now that I've read the first 20 issues. Still very much want an AoA update though.

If the X-Force Archangel rumor comes true do we think it will be a remake of the same costume as the SDCC X-Force box set? Or his Apocalypse look?

I wasn't aware of a name-drop from Dwight, but I like this talk of Savage Land characters. I keep seeing covers of those issues, with Magneto (check), Ka-Zar (check), Zabu (check), Nick Fury (check), and Rogue. Seems like it could be very realistic to get her in that much requested look. Was Shanna the She-Devil in that story arc?

I don't know who Barbarus is, but I'd still buy if he's part of that arc. And if he yields Forearm from the Mutant Liberation Front, that's another to go with Stryfe and Zero, probably the most prominent/recognizable of the bunch.

As for Archangel, I'm not picky, but I wouldn't be opposed to a new body for him, not the same reuse of the Barnes Cap body. Give him new wings while they're at it. Use the body from classic Angel.

I'm all about adding to the MLF ranks now that we have Stryfe and Zero. Wildside, Reaper, Forearm, and Tempo are the core group I'd most like to see. Thumbelina and Strobe close behind, and of course I'd take the whole rest of the lot despite their mort-ness.

Id add an MLF Moonstar

LOL at this thought... have you met Hasbro?   A wave that would require newly tooled body parts for literally every member of the team in a comic book wave?    With an entirely unique BAF to boot.     It would be lovely but is entirely fantasy.       The reason we are getting the Paige we are getting is that she's almost entirely a reuse of the M figure we already got.   We got the Chamber figure we got because the torso, arms and legs were re-used from previous figures.

Marvel Legends waves are a strategic balance of parts re-use and new tooling -  when the BAF requires all new tooling -  as Mondo clearly would, then the wave itself is usually largely re-use heavy.   When the BAF can feature significant re-use (think Wendigo reusing Sasquatch parts) then the figures in the wave can get more new tooling.   A wave like you describe would never cost out for Hasbro, so we would never see it,  no matter how much we would love it.

As antiquated as it is, Skin could still be done on the Pizza Spidey body with bare feet and Reed's stretched finger hands. I think Synch could work on the Sunfire body. Penance would be tough, if they want to maintain her lithe frame, otherwise overlays could work. Jubilee could be on the female teen body with the shoulder pad, gauntlet, and boot overlays from Monet. Emma could be made using White Rabbit as a base, with maybe a new lower torso. They'd almost all need new heads, but that pretty much already happens with new characters. I have little attachment to Mondo, having only read the first 10 or so issues of Gen X before dropping it. He barely showed up. Did he eventually become a regular member?

As always happens, now that they've started Generation X the rest of the team is front and center on my wants list. There does seem to be plenty of reuse opportunity since they wore uniforms. Mondo would actually make an incredible BAF if they gave him lots of changing parts.

Emma can be done on her Astonishing body with a fixed chest, blazer and coat arms. That's my kitbash, with the hair-down Sharon Carter head.

I mean... Skiin is definitely supposed to be thinner than that Spidey body - but I suppose they could get away with it if they had to.   It wouldn't feel quite right, at least to me, but I guess if they got the head right it would go a long way.   Still,  I have that 5 inch figure stuck in my head with the elongated skinny arms and legs which don't have an existing Legends analog.

I think the Gen X costume details have a lot of unique pieces - but I guess, looking at Monet and Husk  it's forearms, shins, shoulder pads, belt and the emblem a the throat.

If they did the boots and arms for Synch they could use the body and boots again on a Gen X costume Chamber re-release that reuses the head and jacket/arms from the previous Chamber figure.

For Penance, I guess if they wanted to duplicate the 5" figure they just use a standard female body in the purple leotard and have new hands, feet and head.     Or they could update the outfit a little and paint it in the more modern black jumpsuit.. and I guess that's easy enough

OK, maybe it's easier than I thought.
