@panthercult gotta cost those spiked arms and torso out somehow!

Watch them use the same body for Titannia.

I mean the point of resistance is not buying the "close but not quite" version in the first place. Blue/yellow Banshee tempting, but no not my era. I wait it out. Nearly classic Falcon but not really. I resisted the urge and am waiting them out.

On the occasion I do need the upgrade I just sell the old one. I mean I sell it at a loss usually but the $5-10 dollar loss I took was my tax to having this character on my shelf for 5-25 years. Now I have a new one and subsidized a big chunk of its cost and am not clogging up my closet. Well not as much.

The delay with Rachel could be due to the cost of her needing an essentially all-new body if you want those spikes all down her costume.   An all-new figure which has little to none reuse potential.  So they have to cost her out with other figures not getting as much attention/funds.   The fact we got the Excalibur 3pk lends me to believe she's in the works or being planned.

The way some of you talk it sounds like you're compulsed to buy a redone figure even though you don't want redone figures.  If you already have green Phoenix, then you don't need a redone version of her.  Even if it's an improvement.  If you don't want redoes, don't buy redoes.

We've gotten so many long-requested figures this year and last.   I can't possibly complain when something I personally want doesn't get made.

Honestly, for Excalibur Rachel they could probably get away with doing the red costume without spikes on the arms - there were not spikes on the legs anyway -  and just do them down the front of the torso and on the shoulders and most people would think it was good enough.

But yeah -  to do it right and include the spikes on the arms too would require a new - or modified - tool for all of the arm pieces and the torso.    So it is more tooling intensive than some other things

And no one is saying they are always 'forced' to buy a redo -  but sometimes when the redo is packed in with a second figure you do want, forced is the right word.   Take for example Mania.   That's a new figure i wanted.  So Hasbro packed her in a 2-pack with an oversized Space Venom figure I had already built as a BAF.    So, yeah,  sometimes "forced to buy a redo" feels like the right phrasing.

I mean there's just "forced" to buy all sorts of figures I don't want. I'd much rather it be a redo I might consider an upgrade to as opposed to a character or character look I've no interest in no matter what .

As far as Rachel, I couldn't agree more. As Beamish said, Hasbro's clearly using her as bait for the collectors who are planning to close up shop once they complete Excalibur.

So we finally got Wolfsbane - I didn't hear anyone say, upon opening her, "That's it - my shelf is complete! It's been fun, y'all, but I'm out!"

Did anyone hear that from anyone?

I don't get this line of thinking.  Whether it's something Hasbro actually thinks or if it's people THINKING that's what Hasbro is thinking.

You're a toy company that cranks out hundreds of figures per year.  You purposefully hold off on one figure (and let's be honest, in the GRAND scheme of Marvel characters, not a HUGELY significant character) because you think that once that figure gets made, a significant number of fans will stop buying the line?  What are they doing now while they're waiting?  Buying figures they don't want?  It makes no sense if that's their reasoning.  ML sales will not drop if Excalibur gets completed, I promise you.

(Besides, the fact is, anyone who says, "Once I get this figure, I'm out" is lying.  So no need to worry).

And since I'm here:  The whole notion of poor Hasbro needing years and years to "cost out those spikes" and "they'll never be able to reuse that buck again" is one of the biggest sob story excuses I've heard.  It's not that big of an endeavor, just make the figure.

Those are my Rachel Phoenix thoughts.

Seconding the ^^ whole thing (even though some of it is quoting me ;)).

Finishing a team is so much better than holding off on one character.

They could have gotten away with that 3 years ago. After making us wait this long she'd better be the most page-accurate figure they've ever made.

I think it's pretty apparent that we're getting the cast from the original first 3 X-Men movies, likely suited except for perhaps Nightcrawler who never had one (in the original trilogy) and perhaps Jean Grey, since they specified Phoenix, which would have been her red Stevie Nicks looking outfit from X3.  Personally I wouldn't mind if they tossed in Iceman (swappable ice head/hands etc), Kitty, Colossus (again swappable metal limbs and head) and Rogue.  I'm not that married to the villains, but Toad, Sabretooth and maybe Deathstrike would suffice.

Hasbro must've heard how many folks opposed the idea of more XCU figures the last time I mentioned it and decided it was time for another release...that or some are likely to appear in the Secret Wars film.

Except on my shelf!

No Way Home had a similar 'awww, that's the perfect, comic booky look we've been waiting for and I've got to have a figure' costume at the end, and I won't be surprised if we don't see that suit again. I've said before but I don't care if the movie is awful or if the costume is on screen for only a moment, if it's awesome then it's awesome. I bought the movie Venom without even having seen that movie. Then again, I'm anxiously awaiting my Momaw Nadon black series figure. Star Wars programmed me to be excited for blink-and-miss figures, heh.

But come on.... You guys really want Kurt Lebowski?

Or you want Nightcrawler?

TBH I have the ToyBiz X-2 Nightcrawler on my multiverse shelf already, so I could comfortably pass on either because that figure still holds up. That little twerp in the blink-and-you-missed-it suit is #NotMyNightcrawler.

I respect the passion you have for the thing you aren't interested in. 😆

Honestly, I probably do. I pretty much liked the original X-Men trilogy, First Class and then Days of Future Past, but don't care much for the last two films - so this is the Nightcrawler for me.
