But would they have some kind of cell shading or pixel deco?
I doubt it. I'm expecting more of what they've already done with Cable and Iron Man with the proton cannon both of which are from the pre-3D sprite-based versions of MvC.
What I'm wondering is whether or not Psylocke will be the ultra-thicc one from the earlier games. I doubt it, but that'd be great. 😍
That Marvel vs Capcom seems awfully light on the Capcom. They should just call it another Marvel release.
I’m not a big movie/game collector, so this tentative list only holds a few interesting items to me, and that would depend on their actual appearance of them.
They may not actually have the license to do the Capcom characters as figures? Maybe they have a deal to use the name only? Other companies are making figures of the Capcom properties so that might be a thing?
For me, I certainly prefer it this way - I have ZERO use for the Capcom side of things but will actually want some of these Marvel figures, so much happier if this is how it comes out.
If Marvel ever did get the license to some of the Capcom characters, Dante and Jill would be awesome.
As for the new rumored list we've been discussing - there's a lot there and not all of it for me, to be certain, but I'm going to operate here as if it's true - even though I'm a tad skeptical.
I no longer buy MCU figures so will pass on that entire section of the list - I might pick up a Cassandra Nova if I think I can fudge her in as her comic counterpart, but probably not.
I don't care a ton for the previous video game based figures so probably skip most of that, but could potentially be enticed.
It'll be a wait and see, as well, on the execution of the figures for the new Spider-Man animated series. If they are like X-Men 97 and integratable into a comic figure display then I could evaluate some of them - but most are characters I have good figures of that I like already, so maybe not.
That leaves the rest:
Minic comic wave is a buy. Obviously ROM is the biggest draw. Super stoked to be getting him. Followed closely by classic Banshee. Finally. New Adam Warlock is cool - not my favoritist character, and the one's I have already are fine in the display, but I'll get. New Dark Wolverine is good too - though I hope he comes with an unmasked head. Don't care as much about the Ultimate characters.
Spider-Man wave - Retro Chameleon, assuming he's in a jumpsuit is a must have. Finally Kaine from the clone saga, female Electro, Spider-Boy all needed. Spider-Man unlimited is fine, and a new Agent Venom might not be the worst thing.
X-Men wave - Marrow, Husk, Fabian Cortez - yes, yes YES to new characters. X-Force Nightcrawler is nice. AoA Gambit is needed to added to the rest we've got. X-Factor Cyclops in blue and yellow is fine. It's one we don't have. Ultimate Wolverine (yawn).
X-Factor Jean Grey YAY, X-Force Archangel - inevitable, though I'll buy it since I never did get that con-exclusive 3-pack. X-Force Warpath and X-23 - if they are upgrades over the ones I have, yep. Retro Mystique - interested to see what we get. I like the classic Mystique I have.
Mavel vs. Capcom - Deluxe Shuma Gorath is instant purchase and can't wait. Don't know if I need the Deluxe Juggernaut. The one I've got is pretty awesome. Cap vs Venom, War Machine vs Omega Red, Wolverine vs Silver Samurai.... I have great versions of all of these characters so these packs would have to bring something pretty exciting and new to the table to get me there. And I have too many Thanos figures, but a well executed new Psylocke could be tempting.
Iron Man wave - same bland line-up we've had. Mandarin is intriguing but could get less attractive depending on execution. If they go green skin like the cartoon I might pass. And if they go plastic tee-pee robe who knows. The versions chosen of Iron Man and US Agent will be important in deciding if I purchase
The listed 2-packs seem pretty awesome though. Triton - yay finally. Magus and Champion - please, please. MEPHISTO and a ghost rider. That's awesome especially if it's Reyes. The C&C 2-pack is almost the most boring, but the old Constrictor in the collection is pretty bad. Not sure I want to buy another Crossbones, but what are ya gonna do?
Anyway there's a lot to like on this list but man is there a lot missing that is still painful. I don't think a single name from my top 10 list is included. And that's a bummer.
If broad, punishing tariffs do get enacted, the secondary market is likely to get pretty hot and/or my own collecting might slow to a crawl and I'll wish I held on to some stuff to ride out the turmoil.
Not sure prices will soar on 2nd hand older items. The economy will be in freefall. I suppose there will be 2% or so doing better than ever; just not sure how many Hiss tanks these people will want.

Totally agree if the worst of what has been suggested actually comes to pass.
Who knows what gets tariffed this time. so let's not worry about it until it happens, shall we?Not worrying about it until it happens is kind of how we got here as a country. I dont see a world where the next administration doesn’t have a strained relationship with China, and the result of that relationship being strained is more likely than not going to be some big brain at Heritage suggesting we get punitive with our trade policy.
At a minimum expect some figures to start getting made in Vietnamese factories within the next two years. Companies wont wait until the crisis occurs to start finding alternatives when aspects of their supply chain are at risk, especially given this particular one has precedent.
How am I coping? I’m planning on having a smaller number of purchases.
Agreed. It seems rather foolhardy to assume a candidate for office is going to abandon one his signature campaign promises after getting elected. Even if the new administration is somehow dissuaded from doing it, the mere threat of it is going affect behavior going forward at least in the short term. We may see a rush to get product to shelves, upticks in prices to cover future losses, and just general market uncertainty. A big company like Hasbro probably won't hesitate to start tacking on a few bucks here and there. I worry for the smaller shops that probably feel trapped right now. All of that product they've already solicited that won't be shipping until next year or later could have a huge bite taken out of the bottom-line and they may be wary about upping the cost of stuff going up for preorder soon.
The rumored stuff is certainly intriguing. The Marvel Vs Capcom line looks like, aside from a few obvious entries, to be a way to get reused sculpts back out there, which isn't an inherently negative thing. If Hasbro just sticks to the Marvel side I honestly wouldn't blame them. Why pay the extra licensing fee to compete with some of the Street Fighter stuff coming out already? It seems a little crowded, though they could always try to focus on the non-Street Fighter and non-Mega Man characters, but they may not see a ton of value there. And I guess Hasbro is banking on people getting nostalgic for the Ultimate universe. I would have loved a nice set of Ultimate X-Men back in the day, but now? Eh. It'll be interesting to see how much of this list comes to pass. It looks really heavy on live-action interpretations of characters when all signs pointed to Hasbro reducing that, but maybe sales have turned around there. I'm skeptical consumer interest goes much deeper than Deadpool and Wolverine, but their Jackman likeness is so good I don't blame them for throwing more Wolverines at us. Maybe I'm misreading the room, but do people want a build-a-figure of Fox Juggernaut? I still remember having to buy him and Jean for build-a-figure parts back in the early days of Hasbro Legends and being a little salty about it.

I won't pretend to speak for everyone, but I definitely don't want that Juggernaut. The one from the second movie would be better, but I could see them doing the Deadpool & Wolverine figure with an alternate Vinnie Jones head.
The tariffs would all but doom this hobby.
I'm not saying they'll happen, but the idea that Trump won't enact any of the outrageous things he proposed is what got us into this mess in the first place. It's magical thinking. It's no different than saying Business Daddy will come in, wave his magic Economic Wand, and lower the price of eggs.
Other than prosecuting his political enemies, the only constant messages of Trump's campaign were mass deportations and tariffs. They will attempt or one both. Some of the wall was built. Mexico sure as shit didn't pay for it, but it's there.
Oh Lord, if the deportations happen to any significant degree, the tariffs are going to be such back page news. Florida's already finding out what happens when you start deporting your labor base, just massive worker shortages in every industry they rely on. We're at something like 90% or more of construction firms saying they're having staffing issues. Imagining that nationwide combined with the insane cost of enacting it plus the shortage of the money that labor is paying into the system...we might as well start using MLs for currency at that point. (Ollie's will be the richest company we have!)
I'm trying not to think of the human cost if that happens, but I'm already horrified.
The good news is they're putting the stupidest people in the country in charge of this. The bad news is they're putting the stupidest people in the country in charge of this. Usually when that happens, things don't get done. What parts of it are done, however, are done cruelly and ineffectively. Expect to see local cops escorting people into literal camps as they await deportation.
There will be a lot of videos of grandmas getting dragged out of their homes in their nightgowns. How people react to that, including those who voted for Trump, will show how deep the rot goes in this country.
As far as the labor force, yeah. I'm originally from Florida. I'm unsure who they think will pick oranges, care for the elderly, or sweep up at Disney when the immigrants are gone.
Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled consumerism.
Yes she will look great in the new Phoenix/Warbird body. Give her new accessories, more hands a a better face sculpt and she will be chef's kiss.
Capcom Psylocke is most likely going to use the new Warbird body. I doubt they make a new thicc body for her.
Capcom Cap could be a nice way of getting a classic Cap out there again. Yes, there’s the Secret Wars Cap but it has a white stripe (not red) in the middle and has no normal shield. Paired with Venom, I think think this could be the hottest 2pk. Although I imagine Psylocke will be popular too.
capcom Wolverine was in his tiger stripe costume, right. So maybe the 97 Wolverine but in different colors?
@ru1977 ahh, I think that's more likely. I forgot he was in Deadpool II and was just thinking this was the one from X3 that resurfaced in Deadpool and Wolverine. That character makes way more sense as a BAF too.
It'll definitely be the Deadpool 2 one, and yes, I want it. I love the character so I'll take any beefy version of him.
The Capcom Juggernaut is my ideal version, so I'm looking forward to that one BIG time. He's definitely one of my top 10 favorite characters, so getting an ultra-bulky version is exciting. But can they really do this guy as an action figure? He's pictured below...if they really make him this bulky what's he going to get, like 30 or 40 degree bends on the elbows and knees? He's so ridiculously thick that he looks like he should barely be able to move his limbs and I LOVE that, but it won't make for much of an action figure unless they work some real engineering magic.
