Nova getting MCU treatment doesn't necessarily mean we'd get more comic Nova figures. If anything, it means it's less likely.
So - while this was true for ancillary characters and villains - this was never true for mainline heroes. We've had numerous comic based Black Panther figures in the line since he made his MCU debut. There have been dozens of comic based Iron Man figures in Legends since the MCU started. Captain America, Thor, Dr. Strange, Hulk, Captain Marvel, Black Widow, Hawkeye - all have had multiple comic based figures released during their MCU heyday. Heck even Icarus got a comic figure not to long after the Eternals movie wave cratered disasterously.
There is absolutely no reason to assume to assume a movie appearance for Nova would mean another comic based figure wouldn't be something they would consider.
I fully support an updated Speedball on the condition it gets me a Niels/Hairball for the Pet Avengers.
Yes Hasbro, I will pay $25 for a character I don't care about to get an official version of this cat, even though I could likely find a substitute in scale cat in another line. Especially if the cat came with a multicolored kinetic energy field accessory.
Yes, an updated Speedball WITHOUT those stupid goggles, AND he comes with Niels his cat. Yes please. 😀
All this love for the New Warriors makes this old Inker quite happy. I’m on board for just about every suggestion. Nova in yellow and lighter shade of blue - AND the star on his back, Namorita in her green, scaled swimsuit, classic Marvel Boy, Speedball with a more expressive face and hands, Silhouette and Turbo. Please make this happen, Hasbro. I’m not getting any younger here.
@whitlow If we could "heart" comments, this would be one time that I'd use it. 😀 <3
@fac If you find a cat you like enough from another line, you can get the kinetic energy field from canofbeams
Thanks, those do look perfect for this...

I have a set and they are great! As most Can of Beams products are.
@panthercult Does having movie appearances raise the chances of some characters getting more figures? Sure. But we typically get a comic figures before or after a movie appearance year. Since her MCU debut, Carol Danvers has had a comic Binary figure and just recently the new Warbird figure. They didn't even rerelease the figure of her in the costume which inspired her movie look. She didn't even get a comic figure in her own wave or for years after. Shang-Chi has had one comic figure before his movie. Nothing since. No comic Namor to take advantage of his MCU appearance. It's kind of a miracle Ikaris made it into the line with the failure of the Eternals movie, but they did squeeze him into a random spot which probably isn't too dangerous. Do A-listers, like the main Avengers, get some comic figures during movie years? Sure. But Hasbro's Dwight even talked about finally being able to open up with more comic Iron Mans, since he's not in the movies anymore. So yes, some characters get a higher profile from the MCU, but it doesn't necessarily mean they're getting more comic figures.
When/if MCU Nova ever happens (with so many MCU shows/films having been scrapped, I wouldn't hold my breath on it actually happening), his MCU look will take precedence. I think there's definitely a history of Hasbro/Marvel not wanting similar MCU and comic looks on shelves within a certain time frame of each other. We've already gotten a couple of colorways of classic comic Nova. And an Annihilation from years ago. Maybe they'll get redoes at some point, with or without MCU influence.
The only Nova figure I'm interested in ever getting is a redo of Annihilation Nova Prime. I really liked the figure we got when it came out - but I sold it when it started to get so gummy and soft that it could barely stand on its own without the legs warping. Really disappointing quality for ML back during those years. And that figure was a little wimpy-looking. I'd LOVE to see that design on a slightly larger body with better quality plastic. One of my favorite post-90s superhero looks, and one of my favorite story arcs.

Slightly off-topic, but Annihilation Nova is a design that I think the Amazing Yamaguchi line would absolutely nail. I don't love all of their comic figures, but they seem to excel with armored characters - I'd love to see them take a crack at him.

All of this. I loved Rich's Nova Prime time, and that series was fantastic. All the Annihilation events were great, and Rich's transformation really matured the character which is something he'd been sorely needing.
Yep, my Speedball has those effects wrapped around him. Looks great!@fac If you find a cat you like enough from another line, you can get the kinetic energy field from canofbeams
