Jesus.... Are his balls showing?

Given the nature of that character in that movie -  is he showing his balls for Jesus?

Balls as big as church bells, to quote Dragnet.

As a huge X-Men fan, movie looks are not at the top of my want list, honestly.

Their biggest chance to get a sale from me would be something from X1 or X2.  I am not a fan of X3, to me that represents the beginning of the long downward spiral that is Fox X-Men.  The new cast did nothing for me.  Putting them in those attempt-at-comic-accurate suits at the end of that one movie was meaningless because they ditched them in the next movie, so I'm not going to spend $100+ to complete that team.

Logan, Professor X, and Mystique are checked off.  If they give me a Cyclops, Jean, Storm, and Wolverine in their leather duds, I'd bite.

I have the ToyBiz X-2 Nightcrawler on my multiverse shelf already, so I could comfortably pass on either because that figure still holds up.

It does hold up and Nightcrawler is one of my favorite X-Men, he was done justice in X2, I felt.  Problem is he's wearing some grungy looking street clothes. So even if Toybiz or Hasbro make a REALLY good figure accurate to that look......well.....how excited can you get?

Exactly. Though I feel the same way about the leather suits. One of the producers made them do that because the Matrix was such a big hit. And maybe X-men wouldn't have done as well had they gone full comic-book with the costumes, ala Deadpool & Wolverine, but I'd certainly be way more enthusiastic about the mini plastic representation. but it's why I have Spider-Man on my shelf rather than Night Monkey. Or the Mark 7 over the Mark 1. And hey, I love Tony's cave escape, but I want the ultimate version of the character on the shelf. I will probably never watch Quantumania ever again, and wouldn't mind forgetting entirely about it existing, but I still prefer Wasp's figure from it and won't get rid of the Kang figure either.

Those poor movie produces had butterflies in their stomachs in the pre MCU days, that's for sure.  Having yet to discover that happy medium between leather and spandex which is multi-layered canvas.  But even Matrix-rip-off leather suits are at least an ATTEMPT at something out of the ordinary.  Nightcrawler didn't even get to wear that.

I remember the first Toybiz movie figures for Jean and Storm gave them articulation in the single digits and big time movie-IN-accurate cleavage.  (Which was painted over in later releases, so it must have offended someone). I'm guessing Hasbro will skip that?

I think Storm is the only one I would get in the leather.

But yeah, Wolverine got his own suit in the end of the first movie, why didn't Kurt?

For me it's an even tie between the mark 7 and mark 3.  Both are from equally iconic movies.  Right now I'm trying to decide how to broach the subject of getting a Hot Toys Mark 3 version 2.0 to the wife.  If I just buy it, I know she will be impressed, but she will also ask how much it cost......

Am I the only person who didn't hate the leather suits? I didn't care for them when they were brought into the comics - or started to heavily influence the comics - but on-screen, they aren't that bad. I just wish the piping had been more differentiated.

But a team wearing matching leather protective gear? These are hardly the worst examples of that.

Does anyone have the picture? All I see is a box with a ? in it. I can extrapolate a lot of what it says based on the comments but I’d like to see the original.

@yojoebro82 right, but either way you want the more classic red and gold. Hot toys... Are a slippery slope. I tried for a time but couldn't keep up.

@valo487 I saved it to my phone but I have no idea how to post it on here.

I can tell you the X-Men movie wave was:

Wolverine

Cyclops

Phoenix

Storm

Nightcrawler

And Beaast (sic)

@schizm you're right, just not the look I care for. It's like how I've never seen an onscreen Batman costume I was excited to display on the shelf, despite enjoying several of the movies. And I get why he is in all black, makes total sense but not what I'm into.

It probably doesn't help that I haven't been watched the original X-Men movie in ages and when I picture the leather suits, it's them huddled together in the shadows of the liberty gift shop, heh. So in my mind they look even worse than they probably were.

I suppose it depends how they look, ultimately. I, for one, never minded the leather suits. It's nice having uniformity between the team so that they actally look like a team. They're maybe not the most interesting of costumes, but they look pretty durable, and are just toyetic enough to work. I rarely, if ever, one to nitpick over costumes and the differences in them. I know some folks know every tiny little change to, say, Vader in between movies, or Boba. Obviously fans of superheroes do the same. I think the leather suits had some small changes to them in between movies. Obviously there's the bigger character appearance changes, like Storm's hair or Cyclops in the trenchcoat vs. not. I don't think they ever really came across too well in the movies because of how dark they are, but I remember each character had some color shading/piping in their respective suits to distinguish them and set them apart (and to serve as a little tribute to their comic costumes, I think)- Wolverine had an orange-y striping, Cyclops had a sorta silver/blue, Storm had a kinda silver/white, Jean had green, and Rogue was red (even though I don't think she ever actually wears a team suit in that first movie, but they still made a toy of her). Again, I think these were more noticable on the toys.

Assuming these are the original trilogy (which I think is a safe bet), we know they're obviously covering the whole trilogy- Nightcrawler from X2, Beast and Phoenix from X3. So I guess it depends what version of Wolverine, Cyclops, and Storm they were to do as well. Especially if they take after the original toys a bit and really make those color accents pop, I think that they could look really nice.

I think the Fox movie X-Men costumes would be better if some of the outlined areas were filled in with color.  Wolverine for example.  Instead of having outlines for the tiger stripes, fill those in with color.   They could still be mainly black leather for uniformity but some patches, and not lines, of color would make the pop a bit more.

No, I'm not looking to keep up with anything.  I have a Keaton Batman and a Reeve Superman.  An RDJ Iron Man is in league with those two.
