Yay for new Shanna... the old one did not hold up particularly well next to the new Ka-Zar and Zabu. I know people always think I'm down on fiigure re-dos, but I'm not. I just don't want the line to be exclusively - or even mostly - that.
Can't wait to see what else might be in store.
Feels like the tamest costume choice they could find for her while still aiming for jungle girl aesthetic, but I do miss the leopard print.
I had a quick Google - looks like they’ve based the figure off a card in the Marvel Snap game.
Textbook Hasbro really. 50 odd years of comic continuity to choose from and that’s what they home in on.
I've noticed more folks on social media saying Shanna doesn't benefit from the added articulation, much like Mystique and the new X-Force X-23. A number of folks are worrying that the added articulation figures may be locked behind a "Maximum" paywall in the future. I'm not going to assume Hasbro is THAT duplicitous just yet, but it wouldn't shock me if Maximum's mediocre launches start to rely heavily on "hey that thing you wanted is only in the Maximum edition."

It actually was from the comics first.
As for this case, it’s almost certainly a modesty thing since it’s probably one of her least revealing costumes. They pretty much said upfront they went with a modern costume for Moondragon as a “compromise” while implicitly nodding to her classic butt-floss outfit being off-limits. It’s almost certainly the same case here.
Tigra gets a pass because she’s technically covered in fur.
Yeah, I did see that pic. I’m not as familiar with the modern Shanna books, but does she have the fur boots in those? i’ve only found images without, but they’re in the Snap Pic and ths figure does seem to hew very closely to that look.
I get the reasoning for a less revealing look, but I’d probably have been as happy with a more filled in version of the old leopard print costume.
I’m buying it whatever.
Mixed feelings on this, glad that we got a new Shanna, but saddened that it's not the classic 80s handbook look, to go with the classic Ka-Zar.
In my book, classic Ka-Zar is barefoot, too. But after seeing the feet on Hellstrom, I'm okay with the boots. I do wish she was in the leopard print bikini, but I'm guessing customizers will be 3-d printing a bikini overlay for her boobs in 3... 2... 1....
My main takeaway from them using this design is that we're getting Savage Land Rogue.
I'd also say that Maximums of Gambit, Psylocke, etc are not out of the question at all. These aren't being sold in any mainstream retailers, so fan demand is going to drive the character choices, not if some Mom recognizes them. Iceman may be a stretch.
Psylocke fans are going to be happy with some upcoming accessories.

First of all - I didn't say out of the question - I just said less likely. And here's the thing I think we super fanboys seem to forget, occupying our little online enclaves, but even in the broader 'fan' community the most popular characters sell better than the B-listers. For a high end product sku like this Hasbro is definitely going to stick to A listers to start with. Spider-Man is their best selling character so they started with him first. Hulk is a marvel mainstay who hadn't had a release in his basic green in a while - the 20th anniversary version is going for almost $100 on Amazon currently. Deadpool is the third release - again one of their most popular characters.
I think until the Maximum line is well established Hasbro will continue to lean on their most popular characters before dipping their toes into the B and C list.

Given that Gambit had his own movie in the works, has supported his own limited and regular comic series throughout the years, has had pretty prevalent toy iterations since the 90s, and isn't at a shortage of Marvel branded tshirts, I'd argue he's at least as popular as Cyclops, if not slightly more. Just going based off his Mafex sales, a roughly $200 figure, he sells out pretty consistently every time he goes up. Psylocke doesn't really have that many iterations/figures out that she'd be in competition with, as we see with people mostly saying "I'm fine with the Hulk I have," being the main reason beyond the price for not jumping on the Maximum version of him.
Retro Beast is going anywhere from $120-$150 presently, but I wouldn't argue he's likely to get a Maximum. The truth is none of us know what Hasbro is going to do, so saying their character selection is "definitely" going to be any particular way is just personal conjecture on anyone's part. I'd argue that while the online fanboy communities sometimes argue for deep cut characters they want, that may not always sell well, having customers vocally asking for things also helps companies get an idea what customers who aren't going to bother to get online to ask for something want also. It's partly why so many businesses ask for reviews and "how'd we do?" suggestions.
Otherwise, "Maximum" series is going to be a rather short lived list if popularity and perceived alphabet-level lists are how things are getting done. With the number of Thors, Wolverines, Captain Americas, and the glut of Iron Man iterations available, realistically how many other A-listers does Marvel / Hasbro have to go off of for Maximum figures that aren't going to be competing with figures already available. Many of these listed even end up going on sale at some point, so asking $50-$70 dollars for something that has a $25-$35 equivalent can be a bit much to ask to some.
I haven't bothered with a Maximum yet mostly because they don't convey enough value for the doubled price, and I don't think the pack ins / head sculpts are really anything that great beyond what already exists.
Really happy about Shanna! I just hope she is Fan Channel so she will be easy to get. No multi packs or exclusives please Hasbro!

And this is fine. I'm not saying Gambit stinks or no one knows who he is. But Gambit's profile is lower in general than say Daredevil at present.

If the rumor mill is to be believed we are very soon about to have a Jim Lee costume Psylocke in the heavily rumored Capcom series of releases. So that might be an argument for not getting a Maximum Psylocke in the immediate future.

To be clear - I'm not indicating that I want Maximum to stick to A-List characters only. My argument is that I think Hasbro tends to be fairly risk averse and that they are likely to stick closely to the A-List until they are convinced the Maximum Series has legs. Nothing would crash and burn the Maximum sku more than releasing an absolute peg warmer that eventually had to be sold at significant discount. And I'm not saying that Gambit for sure wouldn't sell well - I'm saying Hasbro would have to believe he would sell well to put him in a line like this.
Personally, I have yet to be convinced of the value of the Maximum Series so far. It's hard for me to imagine a Maximum Deadpool that would be so cool and different it would convince to pay double for him when I have a dozen Deadpool figures on my shelves already. I'm honestly struggling to think of what could be packed in to remotely tempt me on that.
But... there are some characters I can think of that could be done in a way to justify the price tag for me. I've previously talked about a Maximum Archangel for example, or a Maximum Dr. Doom. There are ways they could do Mr. Fantastic - with tons of swappable limbs in various arrangements for example; or Human Torch, say, that I might be tempted by. But just adding a few bits of extra articulation isn't the recipe to get me on board.
I struggle to think of what Maximum Gambit could be that would make me even consider it. Likewise with Psylocke. It's hard for me to conceive of ways they could release those characters that would make me want to drop $50 or more on them.
Man!! Am I Glad that I just picked up Ka-Zar lol! Now I have to finish Zabu! On the subject of "jungle" characters, it still surprises me that we have NO comic-version of Killmonger as of yet! We also need Bushman for Moon Knight!
