I just ordered more... we'll see if the new order goes through this time.

I'm trying to pick up an extra set and HP refuses to let me complete the purchase. The items aren't listed as sold out.

I saw a youtube video saying that Hasbro is geting out of the toy making game, I think that is a terrible idea, please for the love of god, don't let this happen.

We’re not falling for it @Tfitz.

Well,  there is supposedly an order limit of 2 sets.   So, my ability to order a second round of two would suggest the first order isn't registering.   Sigh.

I think a lot of the recent 'hasbro leaving toys' drama came from this article on a Transformers fan site, posted a couple of days ago.

The article itself is ok with some sources to back up its claims, but it takes some big swings, like suggesting that recent TF releases have had less of each figure produced, which means they are slowing down figure production (in reality, this was likely to correct the over-production that resulted from the covid-era boom).

They also suggest Hasbro investing in video games means their focus is shifting away from toys. But moving into games does not mean toy production will cease. That defeats the purpose of diversification. There's no guarantee that Hasbro's pivot to gaming will even be successful, so it makes no sense for them to bail on toys before even getting that venture off the ground. We've seen companies like this try video games only to go back to licensing, like Disney for example, or - oh yeah - Hasbro Interactive.

So we start with an article that has a shaky premise, then filter it through youtubers, who are typically only able to see things in black or white, and suddenly hasbro is ending toy production!!

Did Jean's lack of yellow boots ever come up on any of the post-stream interviews with the Legends team? Holding out hope of a fix on that one.

When they revealed 90s Cable on the February Stream, he did have the trunks painted like in the promo art so... there's still time.

I'd assume their videogame push probably WONT be successful, do we know how well the GI Joe mobile game(s) were doing?  I mean I guess they could inject some skins into FortNite or something, but even then GIJoe is mostly only a big deal for guys 40+.  If they made a halfway decent Dungeons and Dragons game I could maybe see that.  But again, will it counteract them bailing on their bread and butter business?  I'd assume they dip their toe into gaming and just see how it goes first, but other companies have been impulsive too and who knows if the head guy in charge knows or cares what he's doing so long as his golden parachute is packed and waiting to be deployed.

As for X-Factor Jean, I'd assume the lack of yellow boots is baked in at this point.  Hasbro has given us more glaring mistakes on figures and doesn't seem to be bothered by it.  Maybe they'll do a boxset once all 5 X-Factor figures are out and then they'll have correct colors and expect you to buy them all over again.  We're already on our second X-Factor Cyclops and the other one had metallic paint.

Yes.

Dan was on Unparalleled Universe podcast. He said "some figures are already in production and whats done is done". Something like this. It sounded like they weren't going to fix it.

The last time I can remember them fixing something during production was Magneto's little red socks.

What is it about boots that confuse you so, Hasbro??

Yeah... and  it's not like the parts are molded yellow plastic with green paint we could strip off to get the right color.    To get the yellow boots you'll have to paint yellow over a dark green which is always a super fun treat.   How someone submitted the wrong design to the factory, and then on the QC check totally missed the issue and no one called it out until it's too late is crazy to me.   How hard is it to have someone who knows spot check that?

You know, as someone who spot checks stuff for a living, I'm gonna stand up for the spot checker and say it was called out - and a higher-up didn't want to spend whatever money the difference in doing it right would be, or starting over, or adjusting the plastics on the production line. Quality control personnel typically do care - or at least, do their job to the letter - and get overruled by those who don't care.

Still not a cool eff up - but blame the higher-ups, not the lower guys and gals.

That lack of yellow boots will forever annoy me. What a simple thing for them to overlook. And really shitty of them to not even consider fixing that.

There is no way Dwight didn't fight to get yellow boots. He seems to me to be the one that wants the most correct, accurate version, but when push comes to shove, or more like when the money men holding the purse strings say "it's too expensive", he has to find an alternate route and compromise his personal aesthetic.

I bet it come down to one of two things:

-The cost of the yellow plastic if they were to go with yellow lower legs.

-The look of painting green legs yellow.

Ryan and Dan, especially Dan since he does more PR with podcasters, etc., then have to artfully dodge the questions from influencers without saying what they can't say - that it was the decision of somebody else besides Dwight and the design team.

The overall question for me is this: was this figure originally going to have yellow boots? It's just poor execution to have the figure with green legs, but yellow boots on the cardback. If I were a betting man I'd bet that this Jean figure was originally designed to have yellow boots, so the cardback was drawn to have them. Then the switch was made in design, but the cardbacks were already done/approved.

Nah, it's always a simple answer. They didn't want to spend money painting it.

"Who really cares about this Jean? Just put her in the box, give to Target and save some money. These boots will be harder to paint anyway. Collectors will buy her to complete this team. Now...what about 50$ for a Maxim Spider-Man figure?"

That's it.
