Did they say if these are going to be more fan channel exclusives or if they're mass retail? Because if the latter then I get the necessity of including better known characters like Iron Man and Miles since the Targets and Walmarts of the world probably would be wary of an assortment that's Wolverine and then a bunch of comparative deep cuts. It seems to fit the gradual shift we've been seeing of the front facing mainstream retailers getting stuff that's largely MCU or headlined by well known characters and then the stuff populated mostly by lesser known fan favorites being fan channel exclusives.

Mainline - Target, Wal-mart...

Maximum Spider-Man looks great.  I prefer a lighter blue, but I'm sure a repaint will happen somewhere down the road.  I'm thinking he'll be $35.  I know a Maximum Hulk was leaked as well, so he'll be fun to see, especially if he's 100% all-new like Spider-Man.  I wonder how many Maximum figures are planned per year.  One a quarter?   I can see Iron Man and Captain America getting them.  Wolverine is popular enough, but I'm not sure what kind of accessories you give him?   Claw effects?

ROM and Banshee from the mini-comic waves for me.   Love ROM.  Great character selection and execution. His they hint at his analyzer coming out somewhere else?  Adam Warlock would have been more tempting if it was his classic look.  The mini-comics are sorta neat but also a waste.  Like someone said, people can just print their own.  We're seeing more and more non-BAF waves, which often rely on nostalgia packaging to trick us into realizing we're paying the same as BAF waves but with the bonus BAF.  Now, these mini-comics are doing the same thing.   Less for the same amount of money.

Dumbbells could be a number of characters.  She-Hulk in FF colors.  Champion.  New Thing figure (although his dumbbells could probably be more hi-tech).

Rom is the clear winner of the wave. And year. And Marvel Legends as a toyline. And possibly of the next Olympics. And the presidential race.

Banshee--obviously needed.

Adam Warlock--Classic would have been cool, but I am a huge fan of this era as well, so an upgrade with removable Gauntlet is nice. A stoic head would have been much better for him

Jean Grey--I'm sure there was a panel where her boots were gone or something

Daken--He and Echo are the rare two characters that I've never been able to care about

Ultimate Iron man--Nice chunky armor, not sure if I need it

Maximum Spider-Man--Great looking and welcome in theory, (wish the blue was perkier) but it kind of feels like they're implementing features that should have already been put into place. More crotch room, better neck range...I don't know why that's not just standard Superheroing of Toys instead of deluxe initiative.

ROM!

Just watched the stream. I really like Dan, but Dwight and Ryan are absolutely insufferable.

It's no surprise I'm in for ROM and Banshee and that's it.  Like many others, I would have been in for Adam Warlock too if he were rendered in classic form.

And another Jean Grey?  I mean, she looks good enough but, why do they have such a stiffy for that character? There must be over a dozen releases by now with multiple repeated costumes.

The comic gimmick is a bit lame though - it’s a tiny bit of plastic the figure can hold like he’s reading his own adventures? How many people were asking for that in their displays? And of that amount, how many couldn’t just print their own?

I'm guessing they're trying to find other uses for their micro-printing technology?

But, yes, the tiny comics are quite lame. It was embarrassing watching Dwight and Ryan do their best to gush over how awesome they are and solicit input as to what useless tiny comics they should print next.

Um, how about none?  Just give us extra heads or some new power effects.

Retro Mystique is on the rumor/leak list. Maybe she's the next Target X-Men Retro Card exclusive.

Truly couldn't care less about the "mini comics" Put that money into an additional head sculpt or hand or effect piece.

OK... trying to get over the disappointment in the fact that the reveals today were actually all stuff we actually already pretty much knew

It is only January -  probably too early in the year to hope to see the stuff I'm really hoping for like Rachel Summers Phoenix,  or the Inhumans 2-packs to see Gorgon and Triton,  or that rumored Deathbird.

But I guess it could be worse.  I could be an MCU collector and get nothing but an underwhelming figure without the actor likeness...

When I saw the dumbbells, Colossus came to mind right away because of the old Toy Biz figure.

I'm guessing the mini comic inclusion was really just a way to link these 6 characters together in a wave to be able to sell the concept to retailers like Target and Wally.

If this works and they sell well at retail, I have absolutely no problem with this being an annual thing.

The 6-figure retro card waves (Spidey, Iron Man, now Secret Wars and Mini Comic) seem to follow a pattern: popular name recognizable characters with maybe 2 characters that aren't familiar to a casual buyer (Hallow's Eve, Count Nefaria, Beyonder, ROM).

So in thinking more about the reveal that X-Factor Jean Grey is not just a Target Exclusive, but part of a series of Target Exclusive Retro X-Men figures this year..

Is it possible that Rachel Phoenix and Deathbird could also be part of that Target Exclusive Retro X-Men series?

People here will flip their lids if that's the case,  and I hope it isn't...  but Hasbro gonna Hasbro man.

Rachel is all in red, and we know how they like to give Target characters in red, so...

I think the dumbbell tease is for She-Hulk, hopefully in her F4 uniform.
