@enforcer I am also excited. Daredevil, punisher, the FF... Not a bad year for MCU collectors. I'm also happy to get Sentry
Thats a good question, yeah. There's a few ways they can go with it and I'm not even sure which I prefer.
I would need them to redo Magik on a bigger, pinless buck with face printing. But considering they just re-issued her again (without any improvements), I don't foresee that happening...
That figure is pretty good as-is EXCEPT......the buck is too small and she looks like a little girl in an S&M outfit. I tried to get over it.....I couldn't. I think all the New Mutants that us 40+ year olds remember from the 80s are now aged up to their 20s in the comics, correct? Or something like that? Yeah, she needs a bigger buck if they're going to do that look (and by the way, is S&M Magik now on every variant X-Men comic book cover? I think she is. Marvel really wants to push that look hard. I wonder why? Leather, little shorts, crop top, boob window, thigh-high boots, BIG sword. Literally every beat that I female character being sold to a mostly-male audience could ask for. OK, I answered my own question).
I just want her (and the rest of the New Mutants) in the original black and yellow uniform. That would be the only Magik figure needed for my collection.
In a recent issue of X-Men, someone asked Magik if she was having a quarter-life crisis. It's fair to say she's 20–25 now.
And yeah, the Bachalo costume is terrible. Unfortunately, it's her primary costume in the new hit Marvel multiplayer game so it'll be her default look until I'm dead. I'm glad she's in the game but it's seriously bittersweet.
Magik's never been a favorite of mine, and I recognize that being able to distinguish her on panel often comes down to her flat cut bangs, but I wouldn't be opposed to seeing them give her a different haircut. She's far more antagonistic / stubborn than I think she needs to be, but maybe that's why some people like her. I just find it odd that they never (that I've seen) change her hair whether she was an 8 year old or a 25 year old swinging a surfboard-sized sword. At least she's getting some attention I guess; Magma, another blonde, gets almost none despite having a pretty cool power.
@jtmarsh Bangs need to stay!
They actually did remove the bangs during Extraordinary X-Men. Thankfully, they made their way back right after the run wrapped up.

I'm no big gamer, but don't they make different skins for all these characters now? I'm sure you will eventually be able to cover he up for a mere $5.99.

They really do because unless your artist is George Perez, about 95% of other artist can only draw the "standard" stylized male or female face. Even the good artists whose work I enjoy, even my beloved Jim Lee. If you shaved these characters' heads and they all walked around naked, we'd all be really confused. My point is, you need some of these tell-tale character designs like the bangs to know who's who.
Bangs are definitely a signature look for even real life adults. Take Zooey Deschanel and Hannah Simone of The New Girl. They both look pretty not-themselves even if they sweep their bangs to the side. I think the bangs are fine on Magik, but I have no horse in this race because I've rarely read books that feature her on the team. She's just not a draw for me. But getting rid of her bangs would be like getting rid of the white streaks in Rogue's hair.

I'd be confused even if George Perez tried to pull that off.
It would also be a prime time for the to double dip on Warlock and offer him up again as a single.
I keep meaning to sell my BAF because I'm sure this is happening. But I never remember! And I wonder if they would spare ANY extra paint these days. New expression sounds nice, though.

The thing that makes the BAF a real winner is that paint detail and I'm not convinced they would put in that effort today. It was an anomaly even then. A single release with some extra hand attachments.....an alternate head....that would be cool, but I'm afraid they'd cheap out on the paint on a rerelease. No, I'd hold on to the BAF in this hypothetical situation.

Yeah, she has a few in-game skins already. That part doesn't matter to me. Magik is a damage character and I tend to play healers in Overwatch-style games. It's more about the fact that the BDSM costume has cemented itself in Marvel's style guide. My only hope is that the MCU X-Men produce a hugely popular Magik in a better costume. That's a longshot.
Illyana may be bad, but she's perfectly good at it.
Not sure if this has been reported yet but a bunch of GameStops are closing nationally.
