On the X-Men front, apart from the aforementioned Iceman re-do, I am still waiting for a classic Mimic. He needs to square off against the other doppelgangers: Super Skrull, Super Adaptoid, and Taskmaster.
Hasbro had a press release today about their SDCC plans. Thought this was interesting:
o Convention Exclusives - Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase the following Hasbro products: TRANSFORMERS LEGACY UNITED VOYAGER CLASS FRACTURED FRIENDSHIP 2-PACK, G.I. JOE CLASSIFIED SERIES #130, COBRA COMMANDER (ONCE A MAN), STAR WARS: THE BLACK SERIES DARTH MAUL & SITH SPEEDER figure and vehicle and MAGIC: THE GATHERING SECRET LAIR BURNING REVELATIONS. Additional product information and photos can be found here.
o First To Market – Marvel’s MARVEL LEGENDS SERIES DEATH'S HEAD will make its debut at the Hasbro Pulse Toy Store.
So maybe Death's Head isn't locked behind SDCC. And will be available elsewhere down the road?
Oh, that is absolutely what that language means.
I'm actually OK with that - even though I'm someone who attends the show I never need the toy I get there to be so exclusive that no one else can have it. But that language suggests more than it will also be available on Pulse for a brief period during or after the show, but will likely be available at some retail partner as well.
I wonder if they'll acknowledge DD's 60th anniversary, at SDCC?
@panthercult I don't really care about exclusivity. In fact, I'm against it. Make product available for everyone. Time it to release around SDCC (or other events) to take natural advantage of the attention it brings. First to market is also fine. But having items only available at events tends to put a sour taste in the air.
@ashtalon I agree - I'm not sure it was clear the way I wrote, but I'm not an advocate of exclusivity and don't care if the thing I get is made available to others. I know I'm special, I don't need a "rare" collectible to make me feel that way 😆
@ashtalon That makes me happy. I did want to pick up that Death's Head but there was no way I wanted to hunt for it on Ebay. At least I'll have a shot at it elsewhere.
So, was just looking over the ComicCon blog products page and it has the breakdown of all the various exclusives with the asking prices. And it has the price for Death's Head listed as $39.99 !? I mean... really? I didn't expect it to be the normal $25 price, it's got special packaging and what not, but it's not even a unique sculpt under there - so a $15 upcharge was definitely more than I was anticipating for this bad boy. I expected $30... maybe $32. $40 is a bit of a surprise. Their G.I. Joe exclusive is listed with the same asking price.
Now, there's a chance that the ComiCon site has it wrong and that's not the real asking price. But if it is? Yikes.
@panthercult No. Your post was clear. Was just agreeing with you.
Just got the e-mail confirming I was "awarded" a Hasbro booth time slot on Thursday - so hopefully I'll have Death's Head in hand by Thursday night (unless something super stupid happens like they sell out of the day's allotment before my time slot...)

Congrats! I haven't heard a thing... 😔
I'm eager to find out when they'll go up for sale online! I'm guessing it will be well after the con and not during.
Anybody that wants to meet up on Friday, how do you want to do it? Meet after the panel in the panel room or at the booth? If we still had PM on here I'd send my contact info...
@beamish I only recently (like, a month or two ago) learned about email masking and started using Firefox Relay. It might be useful to help get your contact info to people on the board without publicly posting your email!

As if preorders that sell out in 3 min weren't enough fun, now we get the Willy Wonka "Golden Ticket" treatment just to be allowed to purchase an action figure. For the fans!
