I assume it's meant to go with the neon sentinels give its bright coloring.

The tweet that accompanied the reveal said “Game On”  I’d expect really bright colored game versions of these characters. Perfect for people to say close enough and then rebuy them in more muted comic accuratish colors later. As is their want. Keep you on the line.

On that note, I really wish they would release a new classic Cyclops (Byrne/Cockrum style).

I imagine the third wave of X-Men 97 will have scullcap Cyclops in it, as he switches to that costume.  I assumed brown costume Wolverine would be in the wave as well for the same reason, but it looks more like that costume will be released via a Secret Wars wave.

Man, I was hoping that the brown suit Wolverine would have the updated torso articulation of the astonishing figure. I really hate those old waist swivels. Everything else is fine, but it sureeeee would be nice if they updated the torso on this nearly 9 year old body.

Costs not amortized ENOUGH yet!

Is Blackheart the 100th BAF or is the next, epic one the 100th? I can't remember where it fell.

Ironically it's patently the wrong color for the Sentinels on the early levels of the game.  In game their coloring appears more muted and traditional.  Maybe they referenced a game with an uncalibrated screen or something.  I'm just glad they didn't do the pixelated cel shading they did on the TMNT stuff.   I'm sure some will be interested in the orange and green Sentinels, but I really would only buy ones that at least roughly fit in with the Haslab Sentinel I have.  I would buy some Operation Zero Tolerance Sentinels from the comics though.

It's been mentioned a few times in the thread, but I wanted to give the full context. The Fwoosh Top 10 (and then some) was presented to the ML team at SDCC 2024 in the form of trading cards!

Huge shouts out to @beamish and @sdcomics - Beamish for running the Top 10 and following up to get the team's reactions, and SDC for doing the actual handoff and snagging pics and reactions of the team with the card packs. Thanks as well to all the Fwooshers who helped me find the right cards to pull together.

The full set was mixed up and split over the three packs, and consisted of the top 10 vote getters (including ties, so actually 16), the top 3 BAFs, and top Haslab choice. I wanted to round it out with a few more to make each pack feel substantive enough, so I threw in some bonus selections based on what I see around the boards - and, let's be honest, a little selfish choosing of my own.

The packs themselves were homemade - I tried to get foil printed packs made through a website that does such things, but they got flagged for using copywritten images.

Spoiler
Fwoosh Most Wanted

Fwoosh Top 10

1) Crystal (21 votes)
2) Skurge (16 votes)
3) Attuma (tie 13 votes)
4) Banshee - in green (tie 13 votes)
5) Rachel Summers - Hound/Phoenix getting the most votes (11 votes)
6) Mantis (10 votes)
7) Gorgon (tie 9 votes)
8) Marrina (tie 9 votes)
9) Titania (tie 9 votes)
10) Mandarin (tie 8 votes)
11) Psylocke - Outback getting the most votes (tie 8 votes)
12) Feral (7 votes)
13) Falcon - classic red/white 1970s (tie 6 votes)
14) Jack of Hearts (tie 6 votes)
15) M'Baku (tie 6 votes)
16)  Starfox (tie 6 votes)

BAF:
17) Lockjaw (12 votes)
18) Armor (6 votes)
19) Dragon Man (5 votes)

Haslab:
20)Fin Fang Foom

Bonus:
21) Mephisto
22) Stingray
23) Invaders
24) Warriors Three
25) Serpent Society

Each row represents a single pack, though I might have done some rearranging after I took the pic to get a nice mix, not bunch all the top winners together, spread out the BAFs, etc.

Knowing how much the team loves Marvel trading cards, this seemed like a fun way to get our wants in front of them. Hopefully they got a little kick out of it, and maybe - just maybe - that Attuma card will end up sitting on a desk somewhere, and catch the eye next time they start planning what to make next.

It's definitely way better than the way Boog does it. 😆

At least it's better than back when they used to put the waist cut in the middle of the belt 😂

I mean... it's pretty cool that Lockjaw, Crystal and Dragon Man are already checked off the list from those 25 cards.     That's a decent hit rate right off the bat.    But the lack of a Deathbird card in there is a tad disturbing,  I gotta say  😆

Seriously though - thank you guys for putting that together,  presenting it to them and delivering our message in a format that is fun and enjoyable for them.    It's gotta beat the hell out of dudes just saying "why haven't you made ____"

I will admit: Deathbird is my #1 want, moved right up there after we got Moondragon. However, I didn't vote for her in the Top 10 poll because I figured she was a lock to make the Top 10-15 and her vote could go to someone else.

Lesson learned.

OK... so next year,  with slightly more lead time I suggest instead of trading cards we self publish copies of a  Marvel Universe style comic with our top choices to hand them.    I know they are trading card guys - but you gotta keep them guessing.     We could toss together a quick page for each character  -  Bio, stats and pictures -  but then instead of character history we collect a testimonial from a user here about why they need the character in figure form in their collections to include on the page.    Hand them each a copy of that comic with the Fwoosh logo in the corner.     That will mean something.   That's something they won't just throw in the trash.

The original set had 10 bonus cards instead of 5, and Deathbird was in that mix along with Firebird, Valkyrie, classic Dracula, and a few others. I whittled it down to just 5 extras to not dilute the *actual* vote getters too much. There were, obviously, a ton more I wanted to include.

Next year I actually want to do a custom set in the classic series 1 style - the series that the box for Death's Head is emulating. It bothered me more than I'd like to admit that the cards were from different set and and didn't have matching styles. I'd use existing art (I'm no artist) and include the full Top 10/wants list, character bios, the Fwoosh logo, etc on the backs. This would obviously be a lot more work, but it would make for a cohesive set that I think would be really cool. I'd also print and distribute full sets to everyone, rather than splitting one set up over several packs.

This is something I'd be willing to commit to before the Top 10 vote next year, and could be a good way to drive engagement if we put the word out that the results will be delivered to the team in this way. Just a thought!

Cute idea with the cards - anything that gets Jack of Hearts, Stingray and Fin Fang Foom in front of the Hasbro guys is a win in my books.

I do like Panther Cult’s comic idea too - if you need any design/layout work doing on it, that’s my line of work (designing artwork for books/dvds/blurays) and I’d be happy to lend a hand. Serious offer.
