Keep in mind, like Multiverse of Madness or NWH, that Hasbro is going to be cut out of anything not essentially cleared for use in trailers so it isn't likely that cameos or surprise characters get figures.

Sounds like I've got a good chance at getting a Blacklash next year (possibly my favorite Marvel villain).

I think it could be due to costs, but also due to maybe market data reflects that the retro packaging (that lacks BAF) is more toyetic/eye-catching & the nostalgia factor makes them safer options (& collectors are more likely to buy doubles of the same character - 1 to display in package & 1 out). It seems like people buying full waves to complete a BAF is significantly less prevalent than it used to be, most people seem to piece-meal waves based off specific characters & just buy the additional BAF parts separately if they really want to complete it. I also usually buy online so I don't encounter most of the clearance people speak of at retail, but it sounds like the heavily clearanced stuff is usually the full BAF waves, not the retro carded series (?).
It's definitely a mixture of both. Target has heavily clearanced the last two comic Spidey Retro waves, and to lesser extent, the Spider-Verse movie wave.
That's what I'm expecting going forward. Mostly retro-carded waves with some BAF waves peppered in.
I think future BAFs will be somewhat niche characters that wouldn't sell (enough units to justify widespread release) at retail. Orca, for instance. I see them going the deluxe route for more prominent characters like Apocalypse and Abomination.

I just had a dream in which Hasbro made a Titanium Man (second armor) that was like the size and articulation setup of the Destroyer Armor figure. It would be so nice for that to become a reality.
I'm not an Iron Man collector, but I will pick up the figures every time Amazon clearances them out. At this point I have a decent little collection.
It would be cool if the Ironman retro wave was Armor Wars based. That was one of the first stories I read after getting Marvel Unlimited a few years ago.
