@tsi I'd be okay with her in a two-pack with Captain Britain repainted into his other main look from Excalibur (complete with unmasked head) or a better Shadowcat.
Or she could come with orange turtleneck Meggan.
But if she comes with a Phoenix base and, hopefully, an alternate hound head and hands, single deluxe release is most likely.
It’s possible Rachel is in a BaF wave, and the BaF is the Phoenix effect. That way it can be used with Rachel, Jean, whoever.
I wouldn't be mad at all if Rachel came packed with orange Meggan, other suit Brian, Shadowcat with a proper head, or some combination of those. Include a Widget head accessory and a new Excalibur member (Kylun, Cerise, Feron) and that's a winning combo right there.
I agree Rachel should be a deluxe figure. But wouldn't mind new attempts at Meggan and Shadowcat since both of them had weird faces. Plus the wrong hair for Kitty.
As for other X-Men waves we might see next year I bet we'll get at least: Deadpool movie wave, BAF wave and a Retro Wave.
Is it time for us to start speculating? I bet we see green Banshee, Wolfsbane, Astonishing Beast, astonishing Wolverine, Outback Psylocke and Hepzibah in there somewhere.
My dream X-Men waves for next year:
-Deadpool Movie wave:
Movie Deadpool
Movie Wolverine
Movie Storm
Movie Cyclops
Movie Jean Grey
Comics Feral
Comics Cable (modern)
BAF: Movie Colossus
- BAF Wave:
Wolfsbane
Outback Colossus
Outback Psylocke
Astonishing Beast
Gen X Synch
Trevor Fitzroy
a Wolverine or Cyclops or Magneto
BAF Brood Queen
-Retro Wave:
Green Banshee
Destiny
Astonishing Wolverine
Revanche
Mastermind (skinny)
Iceman (non powered up version)
plus:
- Deluxe Phoenix (Rachel)
- super posable Jim Lee Psylocke
If we get another Starjammer in 2024 it will be Raza. Hepzibah won't be released for several years after that, because we have to leave all teams short one key female member. Those are Hasbro's rules.
And they REALLY hate furry females.
You know what I mean!
🙂
Glad to see someone remembered they started Generation X - I want the rest ASAP!! Or tell me they aren't coming, so I'll start permanently painting the Skin and Synch I've got almost ready.
@jonan If there does end up being another vintage wave, there's no way Rachel is going in it with that flame/Phoenix effect. She will be a deluxe release for sure.
Ah, you're absolutely right. How nuts! I hadn't really thought of the possibility of them doing the actual Phoenix effect, but that does make sense and would look amazing on shelves. I was more so picturing them using the effect they teased as a small base, kind of like the TB ML Series 2 Human Torch's base from way back when. In my advanced age, I'm thinking we can still get a complete figure and a Ghost Rider motorcycle for $7.44.
.......some forum members might think I'm joking, but that was legitimately the price of these things in 2004, and you got ALL of that (plus a comic book reprint...!) for the price of one purchase, which was the style at the time!
We had to walk uphill coming and going through the snow to get to a store to purchase our figures, though. So, trade offs and all that.
Yes, all valid points, but what an incredible value. They were all about the consumer back then.
I wouldn't say the prices were set because TB owned Marvel, though. It's just what toys went for at the time, and it translated to almost every action figure line; though nothing gave us more than Legends. Heck, KB was just offloading whatever they could for bargains, too. Seemed like they were selling the Jakks Pacific Rocky figures for $1 a pop!
Then, companies went bonkers about the cost of oil, which somehow effects toy production? I don't know poop about frick, so whatever. Seems like things should've gone down at some point, but once they get us to pay for the new price, well, we're just stuck there forever.
Really surprised there's no brood army builder, like the one in that Diamond Select two-pack. That sculpt & mold would still work fine and if it still exists, Hasbro should have it (although a lot of the old tooling was lost when ML went from TB to Hasbro).
And the toys were cheaper bak in the day because there was literally no licensing fee. And now there's a big one, and it keeps growing because Disney needs to show shareholder value, which contributes to rising prices. But the fact is there's no other toy company that could a) afford the licenes and b) distribute it worldwide - except (arguably, Mattel) but they're broke and after what they did with DC, I wouldn't trust them to handle Marvel.
Truthfully, at this point we're so deep into Marvel with Hasbro that if the license would switch to another company (like what happened with DC and Mattel), I think I'd call it done. I've not gotten any of McFarlane's DC offerings, remaining perfectly content and happy with my DCUC stuff. The same would be said with Marvel Legends.
