I also greatly missed the Fwoosh and if it ever went down would want to migrate with y'all.Β  I started on the DC Forums back in the day, been through the Doosh, Critical Mess, AFB - all closed.Β  I'm going to pretend I'm not the common denominator.

During the downtime I found myself spending more time browsing Amazon.Β  But Fwoosh let's me know what I want to buy.Β  It's presence both helps and hurts my wallet.

There is always the Fwoosh Facebook page. But I do prefer actual forums.Β

For another model of a great forum, I like tfw2005 for its Transformers news and forum interface.Β

Yea Reddit is the best alternative I've found to here, but it's SO hard to follow new posts on Reddit that I hate using it.Β  I started on Toyark back in 2018 before I found this place, but they only have the one Legends thread and that was far too difficult to follow with the number of Legends topics there could be.

I kept checking Twitter to keep updated on the status. Not ideal, but it worked.Β

Glad to see the Fwoosh is back from the dead.Β  I saw the site was up yesterday, but no forum access.Β  Thanks for posting you all.Β  It let me know to check on here after work.

As far as other good forums out there, I didn't find any like the Fwoosh.Β  None of them have the range of topics and cover as many different areas of the toy world as we all do here.Β  I don't do/like social media so Facebook, etc.. are a no go for me as well.Β  I did still check out Marvelous News.Β  I also frequent Jedi Temple Archives and the Mego Museum.Β  Otherwise, it was a pretty barren landscape for me.Β  Glad to have this community back.Β  Missed it and you all.

Thing is about Reddit is we can moderate it and control it anyway we want if its our channel

I like Reddit, but it doesn't allow for the same months-long threaded discussion of a single topic. It's all about highlighting the best new topics every day. You don't get to know particular users and the conversation generally isn't very deep. The longest posts on Reddit are often a paragraph or two. I've made longer posts on this site today.

If anyone here launched a new forum in case of the Fwoosh going down for good (Heaven forbid!) I'd happily join up, but how would we know?

That's the major hurdle I ran into in the planning process. We don't have a newsletter or phone tree. We have users scattered across Discord, Instagram, and Reddit, and some who don't use social media at all. There's no way to contact everyone in one go. I guess I would try all of the above and hope word of mouth was enough to get some semblance of the community back.

That said, I'm really hoping this place is back to stay now.

Good to see everyone gettin' back to business!Β  That lapse was more unsettling than I would have expected.Β  I'll admit clicking on Fwoosh and repeatedly seeing this bs had me a little rattled:

https://flic.kr/p/2pRtpmM

Like many of you , I too had a difficult time finding any information on the situation and so, while it isn't remotely close to a functional forum, I just set up a back-up information hub (private group) on Facebook called "Fwooshers Anonymous" so we can at least stay informed and connected in the event another one of these inconvenient blips happens to occur.

https://www.facebook.com/share/Av1CALc2oLJCHNrw/?mibextid=A7sQZp

I'm guessing most everybody at least HAS a fb account -regardless of whether ot not they use it- so this may serve as a valuable resource in the event the Fwoosh goes dark again or, Galactus forbid, shuts down permanently.

Btw, I'm not planning on keeping any of you entertained on a daily basis with inane posts or anything; I'm just trying to establish a failsafe or redundancy.

Maybe a couple of you would even want to be administrators?Β Β  I dunno.Β  I'm spitballing here.

I stopped using Facebook entirely about six months ago because it was filling my news feed with pictures of women playing sports in skin-tight clothes.Β  Not just a few; about half of my feed was thirst pics.Β  No amount of "remove posts like this from my feed" reports solves it, so I logged out on all my devices.Β  I don't really care, but my significant other seems to and is convinced Facebook is showing me these things based upon it stalking my Internet use and noticing that I like to search for pics of sexy sports women.Β  😳Β

I googled this and it's easy to find hundreds of grandmothers and others who wouldn't be scouring Google for sexy pics complaining about the same thing--feeds full of pictures of sexy women that they're concerned their grandchildren will see.Β  Dunno what's going on in the Facebook news feed group, but they're out of control so I don't use it at all anymore.Β  Good riddance because all of the polarizing attitudes that are so prevalent since social media started seem to exist at their worst on Facebook.Β  🙄Β

I also sent a request to the Facebook group.

And haha yes my Facebook feed has also filled up from time to time with women in scant clothing doing exercises, mostly my β€œreels” which I don’t even watch or interact with. Maaaaaybe because I do a lot of gym stuff??? It’s a joke between me and my wife at this point. Facebook is the only social media I use and the only way I stay connected to a lot of friends and family, so I’m sticking around for now.

Request sent.Β  Don't use Facebook, but I do have an account so I can interact with others who do send me stuff occasionally.

I use Instagram (sparingly) and it is similarly very horny. Basically every account I follow is comics/toy related, and a few friends. So my Discover page will primarily be comic content, but if I click on one item about Madame Web (featuring Sydney Sweeney) I'm inundated with sexy content for the next few days. They know what sells.

Also, for about 2 months Instagram was convinced that I was Indonesian, and that I loved Henry Cavill. I guess the algorithm doesn't always hit.

@feces-flinger Thank you for doing that. I saved the link, so worst case scenario is I have to sign up again to find everyone. But maybe I can just lurk and follow it if Fwoosh goes down.
