Believing any poor performance in ML is due to the line needing more comic-based stuff just sounds like someone thinking their personal preference is what a line should be focusing on. In other words...me first. None of use really know what ML sales looks like overall. Stuff has been getting marked down and showing up at discount stores for years. It's just part of the retail process. If the line suddenly trims down its offerings, we'll see. Although with the movie strike decreasing media output this year and next and it taking over a year to develop new product, next year's ML product may end up being a bit thin (assuming movie tie-in lines get pushed back to match movie releases).
Sorry PC I haven't read anything about it this go round, far too busy and the last thing I need is reading and citing the current woes of Hasbro A year or 2 ago I did read about their entertainment ventures being a drain. Pandemic driven highs perhaps inflated projections. I don't come here to cite references and am aware of clickbait bullshit on youtube or what have you.....but Marvel and Star Wars have been FAILING hard in media, no suprise given who owns them. I see Legends on clearance like crazy.
Is that definitive proof? No not at all nor I am saying Legends specifically is tanking them, I hope you're not directing "asinine" at me. But some Hasbro exec in the last couple months suggested targeting the collector market more which means it matters obviously. And it's doing better in some corners than others.
Sure seems like "asinine" was directed at you. There wasn't any evidence to support your post, so, you know...
It would be spectacular and hilarious if they announced or hinted at Feral, Crystal, Wolfsbane, Skurge, halo suit Angel, Lockjaw, Excalibur Rachel and classic Banshee just to watch the annual Fwoosh Top 10 list go nuts.
They didn't do much damage to the top 10 this year. Only Luke Cage (#12) and Goblin Queen (#10, just revealed) were removed from the list.
Most of these articles also note the toy and game industry was coming off a two year high of increased sales during the pandemic, so frankly it was probably short sighted if they didn't anticipate a downward trend back to the mean.
Not to the shareholders. They expect annual growth or the heads will roll. After all, don't they deserve some reward for all their hard work?
All you have to do is look at the Comic Book Direct Market to confirm that it's a bad idea to only cater to older collectors. You need product that entices new fans or collectors. Fan's wallets are also stretched thin between the myriad of companies offering their versions of huge IPs. Raising prices certainly didn't help.
It's a culmination of a series of events that led to this. No one brand or thing is to blame. Frankly, they'd do well to step it back a bit and try to capture the interest of the younger generation while keeping that of the older.
They're just going over the X-Men 97 wave again, but Dan teased there may indeed be a third wave with a "wait and see..."
Dan teases a Wave 3 for X-Men '97 and then Dwight chimes in saying he's started watching the original run. Seems like filling in some gaps from the past is a possibility.
Brood Wolverine/Lilandra
Don't recall Brood Wolverine as a guess, but I do like that comic run and the UXM cover was awesome.

That Sabretooth looks fantastic
Sabretooth, on the Omega Red body, with Cowboy Logan
LOVE the new Falcon Cap. I sold off the old one years ago when I was pretending I was only going to collect one version of each, and I've almost picked him back up several times. Kept holding off assuming he'd get made again with his proper wings. Great!
Lady Mandarin is gonna be contentious!
Lady Mandarin Psylocke, and stealth ninja Wolverine. Hmm, wildcard versions.
Shit, that is not either of the Psylockes I was hoping for.
