I'd prefer her without "pants" if they ever do her. And yes, Gaslight is an excellent movie.
When in December can we expect new Marvel Legends reveals?
Hell yeah. Love discussing Criterion movies on the Fwoosh.
I never really cared for Carol's original Ms Marvel costume. The bare midriff look, in particular, just looks bad. I much prefer her Warbird costume. And I think her modern redesign for her solo series is basically an all-timer amazing design, which I'm surprised was never re-released or made again in ML. Especially after all her media exposure.
I’d want a figure of Carol’s original Ms. Marvel costume because it’s her suit on Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and because it so easily doubles as Moonstone’s Dark Ms. Marvel costume. And I feel the swimsuit look without pants fits Moonstone’s style (playing mind games, etc).
Carol’s Warbird costume is one of my personal favorites, and it’s the costume she was wearing when I was first introduced to her. It’s her Mighty Avengers costume and her look from Civil War through Secret Invasion and beyond. So lots of great stories with this costume.
I also agree with Ash—Carol’s modern costume for her solo series is fantastic. She deserves a redo figure for that costume with double elbows and a face printing.
In summary, I would like figures of all of her costumes! I’d love a fully powered up, binary-flamed up comic version, too. I still love the MCU binary energized figure.
Just a quick question, do video games in the past few years count as gamerverse? Game like X-Men Legends 1 & 2 and Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction and even some movie tie-in games like Ghost Rider (2007), Hulk (2003) and Incredible Hulk (2008).
Ms. Marvel's long-sleeves and shorty-shorts with scarf is what she wore when I met her in the Korvac Saga and nothing else even compares in my eyes. That's a Minute One pre-order if they announce it.
It's such a shame that we blew by the release of the Marvels with no comic Carol Danvers to complement it. All 3 of her main looks need doing/redoing and I hate that they missed an opportunity to knock at least one out. Her classic Ms. Marvel look is the one I'm most looking forward to, but her modern comic look done right would make an extremely impressive figure. I hope there's still enough cache left in the character that they get to these sooner than later - maybe as the Avengers anniversary love continues into next year as was suggested the last time the topic came up!
I really want Carol's first Ms. Marvel outfit, but I'm content with it not having the bare midriff. Bare legs are a must though. But like many others, her second Ms. Marvel/Warbird outfit remains my favorite. And if they want to redo that one, cool, even though I'm still pretty happy with its first release.

I love all of the pictured looks for Carol.
For all of the varied looks that Carol has had, she, along with Storm, seem to always have really good costume designs.
I would have bet that we would have gotten either classic 70's Carol (without the bare midriff with an alternate Karla Soften Dark Ms. Marvel head) or an updated Warbird to coincide with the release of The Marvels, just like we got a classic comic Black Panther in the Wakanda Forever wave and retailer exclusives classic Star-Lord, Yondu and Ant-Man somewhat around the time of their film releases, give or take a few months due to film delays. It just seemed like the pattern had been set. However, since this isn't a pattern, I'm not as confident in my former prediction that classic 70's red and white costume Falcon would be a retailer exclusive in 2024 to coincide with one of the original Cap III release dates. That version of Falcon has been mentioned by the Team on a few past podcasts, so maybe he will appear, maybe in the BAF wave, but it seems unlikely because I don't think we've had any or many MCU and comic versions of the same character in a BAF wave together. We did get classic Monica Captain Marvel in the 2-pack, so maybe my theory about getting a classic comic version of a MCU character around the release of their film is still solid.
The Team has stated that the Avengers Anniversary will carry over into 2024, and we know about Giant-Man, Wasp, and a rumored Retro Card wave, so hopefully classic 70's Carol/Karla alternate head without the blue leggings will show up. A Carol/alternate Karla offering is just too good for Hasbro to pass up - many of us would buy 2 so we can display both. Easy money, great profits.
If 70's Carol does show up with the blue leggings, would it be because:
-It's dictated from Disney/Marvel/Jesse to match their new modern artwork used to promote the anniversary.
-The blue leggings make the classic costume resemble Carol's Captain Marvel costume more.
-Bare legs on a strong woman falls into the under/side boob, Moondragon thong category. Not as bad, but not a look Disney/Marvel wants to promote anymore.
-It's the ever popular "here's the figure you want, but not the costume you want so we can "fix" this and sell the more desired look later on (Banshee, Siryn, Namorita, etc.).
When you put it like that, putting blue leggings on the figure seems like a win/win/win/win for Hasbro, and those are very difficult to achieve.
Leggings don't bother me; just think they look better in red.
Feels like we're due for a big livestream. This place has been quiet.
2023 was a very light marvel legends year for me. I bought the least number of figures this year since I started collecting several years ago.
I collect comic figures only, and nothing based on looks in the last 20 years because I stopped reading comics in the 2000s.
Puff Adder wave. Baron Von Strucker was nice. I would have liked a Yelena but didn’t like the execution so I passed. I liked the BAF but didn’t want to bother buying a wave of figures I mostly disliked.
Chod wave. Corsair is great. I would have liked Fang if he was the right scale but he’s way too big. The BAF would have been amazing enough for me to buy the whole wave if it had the right number of fingers.
Antman, Guardians, Marvels, Disney Plus, Spiderverse, X-men Cartoon, infinity Saga, spider man cartoon, spider man movie, that’s 9 waves of non-comic figures. I only collect comic-based so I passed all these. The Marvels wave had comic Karnak which is cool, and I wouldn’t mind having, but not at $25. I’m happy to pay $25 for a figure that excites me.
The Deluxe figures were a whiff for me overall. I picked up Hawkeye but only because he was on clearance, already had the retro Hawkeye. I would have loved Black Widow, the one great standout but I never saw her at retail, it wasn’t available on targets website, and I don’t like her enough to pay a shipping premium.
Hulk 2 pack kind of meh, if you already have the grey hulk. Dr Banner is nice. Giant size adaptiod would have been amazing with wings but less than meh as-is. Mr Fix It Walmart hulk is great, was able to painlessly order on Walmart site at retail price, free shipping. But kind of regret it since he’s getting a 2 pack with Wolverine that I will need for the Patch figure next year.
A handful of retro carded comic Spider-Man releases. The Rose is nice and I’d buy at clearance price but not $25. Same for Tarantula. Just don’t need them.
Just been a really meh year for legends for me as a comics only collector. It’s fine, I bought a lot of GI Joe classified and mythic legions. Not every figure will be for every collector so I’m not mad or bitter, just sharing my thoughts.
If I was tasked to make a top 10 marvel legends of 2023, I would have well under 10 figures on it. I don’t think I even bought ten. In last years I was buying 50 to 80 per year when you count army builders as one each. This year I bought like five total.
