I absolutely love Vanguard. Darkstar is actually one of my top 5 favorite Marvel Characters so her twin brother is a necessity for me. But if they cheap out and release him in that Red Guardian costume rather than in his classic costume with the hammer and sickle I'll be pissed.

I don't know what to tell you. I guess exposure to her appearances at an impressionable age. I loved her power set, her story and always wanted more.
I was reading Champions at about age 8 or 9, maybe... I found the entire run as back issues (I'm not quite that old) and I have an outsized love for that book, in vast disproportion to the 17 issues it actually ran. Had Champions been successful enough to continue she and Bill Foster would have been central to the team and I think her character would have been fleshed out more. Also, since she's a mutant, on a team with Angel and Iceman - her story likely could have drawn in some X-Men crossover potential. Sadly that didn't happen so she went back to periodic obscure appearances. She did show up in Contest of Champions which was cool to see.
Once in my younger years when I thought it would be fun to be a writer for Marvel I had come up with a concept for a fringe super team based in Seattle that would have been led by Mystique and included Darkstar as a member.
And just so you know how my character tastes run, the list is very mutant heavy - this is my top 10 favorite characters list:
Black Panther
Beast
Cyclops
Luke Cage
Darkstar
Nightwing
Nightcrawler
Storm
Gargoyle
Havok
Honorable mentions to: Deathstroke, Jack of Heats and Stingray who fall somewhere in the next 5 or so 🙂
Darkstar had a cool miniseries a few years ago written by a fellow Fwoosher. The series was Darkstar and the Winter Guard. She’s definitely a cool character.
I am in for all members of the Winter Guard! Looking forward to Red Widow.
My needs are simple for 2024:
- Classic Banshee. Everything they need is already tooled. Just redeco.
- Classic Iron Fist. Has to be a given at this point, and I have a lot of Post Civil War Era New Avengers photos to do.
- Updated Agent Venom - use those old overlays, fine. Just with a newer body. RYV base body would be delightful. Maybe something bulkier.
- Updated Ronin. A new Clint and Maya head would be cool.
Outside of that, the rest is just gravy. I have to assume the rest of the Astonishing X-Men are on the way, including a dedicated Wolverine. The second set of X-Men 97 figures should also give us the un-cel-shaded Cyclops.
Yes, I'll take a new Agent Venom. I think I sold my old one, or it's in a box waiting to be sold. Either way, I'd like one with updated articulation. The old one was behind the times even when it came out.

Classic Vanguard would be great. Also, I actually really like the design of that Russian female red Hulk, in a white costume, from a year or two ago. Don't remember her name. But she had a neat look and would make a cool BAF.

I didn't know that, either. I imagine there must be a few comic writers/artists that post here on the DL. Many of them collect Legends, so it would make sense.
Years back, either Dan Abnett or Andy Lanning popped over the comics forum to thank supporters who were praising the Guardians of the Galaxy book they were writing.

Indeed. The more Winter Guard, the better. LOVE that team. For purely selfish reasons, I'd love a new Colossus figure to stand with them in the outfit he wore in X-Men Forever...
