2023 knocked out some of my major wants for me, including two in my top five. Spiral and Chamber were a huge win for me, especially with Spiral being the best Marvel Legends figure ever made, but getting Longshot, Blob, Mojo, Outback Rogue, Astonishing Emma and Cyclops, and the training uniform team was also incredible. Outback Psylocke, Destiny, Senyaka, and other or better versions of Magik top my list going into 2024.
I'd rather see some characters never done before (Cardiac, Stegron, etc), but redoes are inevitable.
I forget what the reason was, but I've seen people explain a few times before why some sort of licensing issue prevents Cardiac from being on the table for Marvel Legends. Definitely a bummer. I almost exclusively pick up X-Men figures, but I do dabble in Spider-Man characters from a very specific era that would absolutely include Cardiac if he were to release.
What's the hangup with Cardiac? Why is he different from the 1000's of other MARVEL characters? He used to be a big want of mine but just gave up.
Maybe the creator of Cardiac managed to hold onto the rights somehow?
I also remember rumors about Cardiac being somehow different re: merchandising, but I can't substantiate anything. Has he had other merchandise made? I see a Heroclix figure at least.

I've seen this tossed around a few times and I just don't think it's true. Cardiac has appeared in the comics as recently as 2014 in Superior Spider-Man. I think any avoidance of Cardiac is just a lack of desire to do the figure - of a character who has made 15 total comic book appearances since he debuted 33 years ago.

That's more appearances than Maggot.
My very first superhero comics were the Larsen/Bagley era of Amazing Spider-Man, and Cardiac was just starting out then. He was new and so was I. I'm there for a Cardiac figure, for sure.

Per Marvel’s wiki, Maggott has more appearances (though just barely).
In this case though I do assume the simplest explanation is the correct one. There’s a lot of potential characters jockeying for a position in any given Spider wave, and Cardiac just hasn’t been lucky so far.
What If season 2 trailer also just came out, so I'm guessing that'll be the source of the majority of 2024's 'MCU' Legends.
I am sure some will find their way into the next D+ wave. Or 2 depending on if we get 1 or 2 next year. But I don't think we're getting a full D+ What If wave again
I read that Mego has the license to make Marvel figures again. No line up has been listed but it would be nostalgic to see Marvel Mego figures.
Maybe the creator of Cardiac managed to hold onto the rights somehow?

Cardiac also appeared in Iron Man (2020) #2
To be fair we don't even really have a 90s Spiderman. No Kaine. I don't know, I haven't really collected Marvel Legends since early 2019 except for a few purchases. It's just no fun if they're NEVER making the stuff I'd like most. Cardiac was always a cool design.
X-Men '97 could change all that possibly but we'll see.

You're probably right, and I hope you are, but my cynicism says if we get any more Disney plus waves, it'll be just one more and it'll be full What If.
@ditko Feels like we've been getting plenty of stuff from the 90's. We've got most of the x-teams, the upcoming Scarlet Spider looks great, and we're basically just a Carrion and Firestar away from the complete Maximum Carnage lineup. What other figures are you looking for? Mostly Spider-stuff?
An updated classic Iron Fist, and and updated 90s Deathlok would be cool, too, for the Maximum Carnage completion.@ditko Feels like we've been getting plenty of stuff from the 90's.
