@ashtalon I had the thought about the "bread/cheddar" as well. And then I had a very strange thought that maybe they'd rerelease a previously successful Haslab. Hard to believe that would happen, but it occurred to me.
re: Goblin Queen, do we really want the version shown with the HasLab? Feels like the 97 version is basically that, but with more individualized sculpting. Personally, I don’t feel the need to advocate for another GQ unless they wanna go full-out with her iconic design, which seems unlikely.
The one we got feels very cartoony. The headsculpt and cape of the haslab were very well executed. Looking at them side by side is what really made me want the original version. We will never get a classic Goblin Queen without customization.
plus the haslab one showed her legs and stomach which was more comic accurate
I'm sure they'll get Robbie and Mephisto out there eventually. Definitely not expecting the Hellcharger though, I think that ship has sailed.
Mindless One single release would be great. I did actually army build three of the things, basically for free once I resold the loose figures (you know, if I value my time spent at $0). Would still like to have a better/easier option for everyone, and I'd probably pick up one or two more.
They let it slip ages ago that Mindless One would get a solo re-release with new deco. That would be a pretty underwhelming announce for NYCC but it tracks. Fin Fang Foom would be better, but there has also been some discussion of Animated color redecos of a Sentinel - not sure which tooling they'd use, but I'd think a smaller version than the Haslab, maybe the DOFP version?
I also army built the Mindless Ones, so I’m in no rush for a single release. I did a fourth one really cheaply and used double limbs. The legs are interchangeable and barely register as left or right. The arms are a little less convincing, but since previous arms came with two left or right hands, I just used extras from other figures. I had extras of Luke Cage and the Fist Ninja, which had the leg and arm respectively.
I assumed all BAF get a single release eventually. Isn't that the new thing?
Isn't that the new thing?
If by "new" you mean since Ryan Ting joined the team around 2015 then yep, definitely. They're approaching at least a decade now of doing that with about a quarter to a third of all BAFs.
Or has it been longer than that? What was the first one they did that with including both single releases or multi-packs? I probably don't even know because I started collecting in late 2018. MCU Hulkbuster and comic Thanos are the earliest I can recall right now that they re-released later in some way.
The first BAF I remember being reissued as a complete figure (deluxe) was modern Thanos. There have been a lot since then, and they're still coming, even going further back. They recently rereleased Terrax (with that other herald), and Arnim Zola (with Baron Zemo). That's already the third reuse of the Arnim Zola body, this one being a closer reissue to the BAF, and the previous being a modern variation. Kingpin, Rhino, MCU Gladiator Hulk are among other recent ones. Probably a matter of time for Mindless One.
Another interesting one pops to mind: Abomination. He was released as an exclusive, part of the Raft set, a complete figure. Then soon after (I'm pretty sure), was released as a BAF! Part of a Captain America wave, I think one promoting Civil War because MCU Wanda was in the wave. So this was an example of the figure being released complete, then broken up as a BAF to be released again.
I was trying to think of the BAF's that have been re-released thus far and it is a fair number.. Jubilee, Rhino, Kingpin, Mr. Fixit, Space Venom, MCU Nakia, MCU M'Baku, MCU Gladiator Hulk, MCU Thanos; MCU Vulture; MCU Cull Obsidian (multipack); MCU Thanos (different movie);
Apocalypse - though in a totally different color scheme
Puck was re-released as part of a large expensive multipack, so not a ton different than still being a BAF; Rocket Raccoon was the same - part of a retailer exclusive 5-pack
Sandman and Abomination both in con exclusive 5 pack - though they both preceded their BAF release, I think
Terrax in a 2-pack; Arnim Zola in a 2-pack; Hit Monkey -repaint in a 2-pack; Juggernaut in a 2-pack;
Man Thing sort of... he got retooled with some new parts and released as the MCU version, so its not a straight re-release.
But... to be fair - it was actually FAR more common a few years ago than it has been more recently. Also, of interest, is that of the BAF figures that could be considered "Army Builders" - Kree Sentry, Theta Sentinel (I guess) and Mindless One - those haven't had a solo release or re-release
Also got a look at my Amazon delivery estimates... Phoenix is now due to land at my doorstep on 10/3 as are Rogue and Destiny; Daimon Hellstrom, Moon Knight, Lillith and Brother Voodoo are expected on 10/7 and Crystal and Lockjaw are now scheduled to show up on 10/14.
My order for Punisher and Bushwacker seems to have disappeared though. It isn't in my Amzaon history at all and the placeholder order I placed at Pulse was canceled. So, hmmm. Man that's a lot of product all at once.
I checked Pulse though for my Kang and Vulture 2-pack order and it just says "in process". I know a lot of people go theirs, but I seem to be a the back of the queue.
I'd love a stripped down Engine of Vengeance. No lights needed (or the powered down version if that would keep the price under $100). Now it's not a "Haslab". It didn't have sounds, I don't think.
Include Robbie for $125 and I'm all over that.
The Rogue/Destiny two-pack and Phoenix just showed up at my door from Amazon. Also, the rest of the Strange Tale waves is scheduled for next Monday. AND just got a notice that the Spider-Verse wave is supposed to ship around the middle of the month.
I may actually cancel the Spider-Verse wave. Too much stuff hitting at once, and I'm honestly not too excited abotu that wave. Feel like it'll be readily available for a while.
I didn't know (or completely forgot) they put out the gladiator Hulk. I clenched a bit when I read that, but saw I paid the same price that Amazon is charging currently. Only thing is I just got 1 head with mine.
And I'm confused on Destiny. Seems like I heard she was in a 2-pack with Rogue, then Mystique, then that she's getting a single release as well. Is there more Destiny coming than just the Rogue 2-pack?

As far as we've seen she's just coming in this 2-pack with Rogue. She was originally rumored to be coming with Mystique on a leaked list, but that was then debunked when the pack with Rogue was announced. I haven't seen anything suggesting she will be released as a single. It would surprise me - as a female, and not one of the more dynamic or popular female characters, I wouldn't expect she'd warrant a single card release in addition to the two pack.
