I get that the price is higher than people want - or expect.   But I do find it kind of hilarious that people are like -  the Mezco Lockjaw is better anyway -  a figure that was part of a set that cost $150 when it came out and can't be had now for less than $300.     And Crystal is $25 of the price - that was a given.    So they are charging us $45 for Lockjaw.   They charged us $60 for Blob so it's hard to feel too terribly surprised by this...

Yes, I wish it was cheaper.  I'm not praising Hasbro for the price.   But for the people acting like this is complete madness,   I mean,  really?    It's a bit high,  but wasn't the Knull and Venom 2-pack more expensive than this when it dropped?    It's hard for me to feel shocked by the price.   I wish it was $60.   That would be a better value.   But I'm pre-ordering this because I want a classic Crystal and Lockjaw in my collection that badly.

This is all fair and true, and honestly closer to how I normally feel about these things. For some reason this one caught me off guard. Framing it as a BAF for $45 (instead of 5 figures @ $25 each) helps rationalize it too.

Still though, for that rationale I want this thing to be articulated like a BAF! I'm excited for Lockjaw but disappointed in the figure itself, which makes the price sting - if he was as articulated as Zabu I wouldn't have a negative word to say about it.

So $25 for Crystal makes Lockjaw a $45 figure. Yeah I was hoping for $35 making this set closer to $60, but I’m still in. He looks pretty beefy with a few extra accessories.

Yeah I wish this was closer to $60 as well.  But I did the same math as you and figured $45 was about right for what is essentially a baf that I don't have to pick up other characters that I don't want to get.  I'm tired of buying 2 or 3 characters that I don't want to get a baf that I really want.

So Crystal and Lockjaw are a day one preorder for me.  Who knows maybe Amazon will drop the price at some point.  No matter either way.  I will say that when Hasbro does up their price for something that I really want, it just means I am less likely to make any other purchases that I'm on the fence for.  I have passed on so many figures the last few years.  The rising prices just mean Hasbro has to work harder for my money.

Yeah, as someone who prefers this to buying a bunch of stuff I don't want for a BAF I really want, I agree. If, for instance, they did a set with Juggernaut from Deadpool 2 paired with another character I really want, I wouldn't actually hesitate at $70.

I'm not bothered by the price since I am a multi-trillionaire with a mansion on the moon, but 70 dollars is definitely a "doggie should have knee articulation" price.

Exactly this.

🤣

Yeah. I really want Crystal and Lockjaw on the shelf and can generally be pretty forgiving with prices, but $70 for a basic female body with a couple accessories and a barely articulated dog is pretty rough. I probably would’ve even scoffed at $60, but breaking this down to $25 for Crystal and $45 for Lockjaw makes this look even more insane.

Yeh, fnck that. I mean Lockjaw is basically a figurine for pete's sake.

Yeah, it's a shame that he won't be able to do all of the many amazing dynamic things Lockjaw does in the comics and hit all those crazy fighting poses and those extreme... oh wait.  95% of all depictions of Lockjaw are him standing there with a group of people being teleported around him.

If ever there was a character I was OK with having less articulation this is probably it.   If they ever give me the Kree Supreme Intelligence I won't be mad if he doesn't have 30 points of articulation either...

Couldn't agree more... It's the 45$ ML figurine part that I find a bit unsettling.

I found the projected September 30th release date to be far more surprising than the $70 price tag, personally. I was hoping for a lower price but I thought all along that this would be the perfect opportunity for Hasbro to test out a new price point (although I don't actually think that this is really all that different of a price point), with it being a fan channel exclusive and 2 long desired characters that fans have been vocal about wanting in the line.

It was still an instant pre-order for me. I didn't hesitate to buy the Mezco 1:12 Lockjaw and Black Bolt when they went up for pre-order for $150, and I didn't hesitate on this set either. I probably honestly still prefer the Mezco version, but wasn't going to skip this one regardless. To me this is easily my most anticipated Legends release of the year and will be there neck and neck with Deluxe Phoenix for my favorite figure/set of the year.

So happy to see Crystal finally getting released. Now, we just need Gorgon, Triton, Maximus the Mad along with an updated Medusa and Black Bolt on the Vulcan buck.

I don’t think I’d want Medusa on the Vulcan buck. 😀

Don't get me wrong.  I'd be thrilled if Lockjaw had better articulation.  However, Panthercult is correct when he says that Lockjaw is mostly just standing with someone and teleporting them somewhere.  I'm much more disappointed in the head sculpt.  I really wish Lockjaw had a Kirby head rather than the dog look we are getting.  It's always something that we would like done better.  Just the way Hasbro likes it 😉

So they made like 10 of these things?

Given that he has interchangeable face plates instead of full alternate heads maybe they can slip a Kirby "mustache" Lockjaw plate in with Gorgon or Triton.

@derrabbi Even when it was available I couldn't add it to my cart for some reason. And this doesn't seem like a set that would sell out so quickly. Maybe Amazon has to hold off until later, like when it's available on BBTS?

This is a much more reasonable criticism of this set, in my opinion.   It was very disappointing that they didn't include one more Silver Age style faceplate for Lockjaw for the money.

I would accept this solution as a reasonable peace offering 😎

Do a Gorgon and Triton 2-pack with a bonus Kirby Lockjaw faceplate.

The price feels a bit high, but about what I expected. I think of Lockjaw the same way I think about Blob, MODOK, etc.

In any case, you'll never get me to care about the Inhumans, so this is a hard pass. Maybe if this set does poorly enough Hasbro will stop making them. 😉
