If it makes you feel any better, their windows and blisters are being made of bio/recycled plastic now.

Will be interesting to see if that is fully recyclable.

@enigmaticclarity

That particular image was my icon on the old Forum!

i’m big fan of Bill Sienkiewicz, Bachalo and many other unconventional hyperstylized  comic illustrators working within conventional superhero books.

Not to mention the noise factor. I'm half joking, but I really did appreciate the ease and silence of taking figures out of windowless packaging. I'll miss that.

This is an underrated element.  I frequently stay up later than the other members of my household and that time by myself is perfect for opening figures I've picked up - but the fiddling with the plastic trays is often way too loud to proceed.   The all cardboard packaging made that a much easier process to do while others tried to sleep.

This is my greatest regret with the package change. I'm always up later at night and being able to crank through a week's worth of new stuff without bothering anyone was glorious - and dumping everything right into the cardboard recycling was such a relief. I legit miss the windowless boxes. I know it's not for everyone but it was actually a massive convenience upgrade for me.

Review of Vision is up on YouTube from Dan Who.

I wasn’t against getting an update even though I’m quite happy with the retro card version.

Something about this figure just doesn’t sit right with me from what I’ve seen. I think it’s a combo of the colours (looks a bit muted) and my own minds eye image of the character leaning skinny rather than bulky body. I know most here wouldn’t agree, that’s just me! Also the hands look strangely big.

Looking forward to some more comparison images.

I don't think of Vision being either excessively skinny or bulky. I think of him being 6'3" or so with an athletic build but not super bulked. About the build of a 6'3" 210 lbs athlete or so. The way John Buscema drew him.

My issue with the new one is how the cape seems to float over his shoulders.

I think the Vulcan buck is perfect for Vision but he needs some sculpted elements (gloves and boots, lower torso) to really bring it together. Also, if they're going to keep reusing this buck the sculpted glove lines absolutely have to go.

More sculpted detail should be common all over the line. I really don't know how expensive it could possibly be in this day and age of modern technology to add things like thin raised diamond on say the Visions chest and his unique boot and glove lines on an existing buck. Surely it isn't that involved.

@derrabbi they can do it but they'll charge an extra $10 for it...which I'd probably pay, in this case  😐

@maschine9 Same here. Sienkiewicz, Bachalo, and Quitely are some of my favorite comic book artists. Their work made the X-Men runs they were on even more distinctive and iconic. Even though Bachalo does overuse that one costume he gives to every other female (Emma, AOA Dazzler, Lady Mastermind...)

Here's the thing.... if they do it as separate add on pieces that's  - glued on for the diamond, or added intstead of the existing legs and forearms -   they have to tool those extra pieces on a new steel tool -  which as we've been told is by far the most expensive part of the manufacturing process so it adds significant cost to the production side.

If you mean have it added by modifying the original sculpt then they have to modify the base steel tool to add the element which means that it would have to be used again or filled in for subsequent uses of the tool in the future.    So, it is significantly more expensive from a production standpoint to change the sculpted details on a mass produced toy like this.   These aren't individually 3-D printed, so it's not as easy as modifying the file.

Sure it might be nice if every figure had every minor detail sculpted uniquely,  but the figures would be a lot more expensive if they did it that way

I am legit asking this bc I don’t know. They literally have 1 steel mold for say the Vulcan Buck chest? One and only one?
