hahaha yeah these new forums are really bad. I hope proboards gets implemented or something.
And I'll say it again, please at least bring back the old forums in a read only state, losing 20 years of toy community history and info would be fundamentally devastating.
Silly question, but I can’t seem to find a direct link to login when you get to the forum list, I have to go into a specific board and scroll to the bottom, any assistance? Thanks!
Grateful the boards are back, been on here almost 17 years (December) and was kinda starting to worry!

If you follow the link https://thefwoosh.com/forum/ , there is a menu on top, under the large "Forum" header. Options include Forums, Members, Recent Posts, Register and Login.

no turning back. new forums now. time to move on.
Test post so I can edit.
Formerly Darthgaar, thought I'd change my alias with the new forum.

I'd love a new forum if it were actually better (the downsides here are immense), but not archiving the old forums is really, really bad. That's the destruction of information and history.

Are you thinking they did it deliberately?

it honestly rocks finding out just how many more new ways this new board can be janky as hell
It's obvious Robo and the other staff think this route is the easiest way forward for them to manage the site and the forum, yet you've CONTINUED to pick at their decision and push for a different option.
Go create your own forum using whatever platform you want and share it on social media to see how many people you can get to join.
I think I know which images don't work by pasting them into the editor--any that don't end in a file extension such as .jpg, gif, .png, etc aren't going to work. That eliminates ever embedding a pretty large percentage of images hosted on various web servers--anything on Facebook, Instagram, Google Photos, etc etc just won't work.
If we had a way of indicating explicitly that a web address is an image such as the UBB [img][/img] tags that would fix it because browsers definitely don't have that limit of requiring image filenames to end in file extensions that WordPress Forums appear to have.

I second this, use the name Fwoosh too, I'll bet that's not trademarked and you won't get into ANY legal trouble!

Except this site’s user experience unapologetically sucks in a lot of ways and the suggest to consider an alternative was shot down without so much as a passing thought. It might help to recognize any of the complaints or suggestions in this thread are made out of a love for the Fwoosh and the community it provides, and not as an attack on the creators themselves. We all want to enjoy the experience of our shared hobby in ways that are fun and familiar. That’s a good thing. As it stands, this ain’t it. It sounds like there are viable alternatives that will satisfy the user base and the admins at the same time. Shouldn’t that at least deserve some consideration? 🤷♀️

You should be able to right-click images on most sites (Facebook included) and select "Open Image in New Tab" or "Copy Image Link/Address" to get a .jpg/.png/etc. Not perfect, but it does work in most cases.
I am having trouble using the forum on mobile. Various parts of the forum seem to load at different speeds. Frequently there is a lag between typing and text appearing, which makes the requirement to keep logging in frustrating. As are the recurring captchas.
Thread titles load slowly and need to be selected multiple times before they will open. Sometimes the wrong thread or an ad will open instead. The experience is like being on old dial up internet from the 90s.
The reply box changes sizes as you type, leaving some of the text off screen. And adding in a photo will then take up the entire reply box such that I cannot get back into the reply box again to type of add another photo.
It creates a frustrating experience on mobile. Tapatalk made for a smooth user experience on mobile.

dogg you are in a thread where the users are having to troubleshoot issues and explain features to eachother because nobody else will.
they "think" its easier but some people think the world is flat, and you know what? they're both wrong. i explained pretty clearly that the listed issues weren't applicable at all to my suggestion (ironically they do apply to this board). i'd message you and tell you to block me if you don't like it, but you're on a board that no longer has either of those functions. how easy!

you wanna know why i know proboards is a good alternative? i used to post on a phpbb-based board that always crashed and eventually died with zero word from the people running it who ignored the people asking for updates. sound familiar? for the last five years ive been admin on a board with 2000+ members that used to post there. that's why i know that proboards works. i have seen first hand what happens to communities when they get abandoned and then offered half assed replacements.
if you like a terrible user experience and bending over backwards to excuse it, good for you. some of us want better for the community.
