I'm finding the forum pretty much unreadable on mobile so until a Tapatalk option is possible I will only be able to engage sporadically. I tried to stick to only reading the updates through email notifications but then I ended up with several hundred emails per day so I had to give up on that as my mailbox was pinging all through the night. It has been nice to see some folks around again. Also this has meant the ignore function needs to come back soon too 😔

Finally figured out a way to post images from Google Photos today.  The forum only renders images in posts that end in a file extension, but many large image hosts don't use file extensions.  But Google Photos supports one if you just put "-no-tmp.jpg" on the end of any image's address.

So the full procedure for embedding a Google Photos image is:

  • Bring the image up in a publicly-shared Google Photos album.
  • Right-click the image and choose to open it in a new tab.
  • Edit the web address to the photo by putting "-no-tmp.jpg" on the end of the address.
  • Select the entire web address and copy it to the clipboard.
  • Paste the web address into a new post in this forum.  It should immediately appear within the post.

Image hosting! Still not as big of a pain-in-the-ass as printing, but we're closing the gap.
Thanks for the instructions, BTW...

@kailryu Yeah, the forum remains frustrating to use on mobile. I’m just addicted to Fwoosh, so I keep coming back. I’d recommend installing an ad blocker app. I still have lag and need to click on buttons several times before they work. I get logged out a lot as well, which means going through captchas again and again.

Ideally, we could get Tapatalk compatibility back. I know it’s been said several times that the current setup won’t work with Tapatalk. I hope that other options continue to be explored because Tapatalk was such an easier interface.

Finding that the forum is performing a lot better on mobile today, and I notice that the Twitter integration in the sidebar of off-site linking doom seems borked at the moment, so perhaps that’s why. Would it be wrong of me to say “don’t fix it”? It’s nice being able to browse without waiting 45 seconds to load a page/error out and reload, and arrive at the latest page for a change.

It seems that all of a sudden I get post notifications via email, but now I can't see any notifications when I go on the fwoosh forums?

Also, I noticed that trying to Quote a second person in one Reply box wipes the entirety of what I've typed in response to the first Quote along with it.  This is not a cool thing to have happen.

Performance is back to being absolute garbage on mobile again, and I note the sidebar Tweets are loading again, fancy that. Can we just get rid of them? I’s not like they’re serving a particularly useful purpose anyway, and certainly not if they’re tanking the page loading performance.

The captchas for this site are absolutely bizarre. Today it was "select all images with a wizard" and it was just blurry AI generated wizard pictures. So weird.

The worst part is when you can't find a wizard to help you out.

Also, why are there two captchas to log in? Kinda overkill, no? I've literally never seen that anywhere before, just here.
