The "body" section under "Leave a reply" is awfully small only allowing for three lines of text. It would be nice to have that enlarged.

ย

Completely agree, particularly when you're quoting and those few lines get filled up by the quote.ย  I'm manually resizing the textarea as a first step every time I post.

I admit I know nothing about website or forum maintenance. All Iโ€™m going off of is what Iโ€™ve read in this thread. If keeping everything on one site and hammering out issues is easier for you, thatโ€™s what we get. It still reads to me like dismissing alternatives out of hand and that puzzles me, only because Iโ€™m the type who would rather research all options before settling on the optimal choice. Maybe you have compared services like proboards or whatever and deemed it a bigger hassle, but thatโ€™s not what Iโ€™ve read and that was the point of my comment. Good luck with everything.

ย

One of the base concerns would be technology skillset.ย  WordPress and this forum plug-in for it are written in a web development language called PHP, whereas ProBoards is written in Perl.ย  I would have avoided both of those if I were in Robo's shoes because I use Microsoft development tools and barely know either one of them.

I get that someone set up a ProBoards in a few minutes earlier in the thread, but that doesn't make customizing and supporting it easier.ย  Whatever technology Robo is most familiar with is a major factor--probably THE major factor--given that this is an extremely part-time thing he's doing.

I guess I'm not seeing that issue on my end? It expands for me as I type more, both on my phone and on my PC.ย

And there's also an arrow in the bottom right corner to expand as big as you want.ย

What's the P in the lower left?ย  Hovering gets me a Linky Hand but clicking does nothing.

And do we need double-spacing in the Reply box?ย  Get rid of it and the size issues disappear, imho.

The P highlights all text for me. But I don't know why it's there.ย

Ah. A case of Mobile vs Desktop is going to be an ongoing problem.ย  I'm seeing now that there's a lot of stuff unavailable on mobile.ย  It's not a complaint, just an observation (well, maybe little bit of a complaint). 😘

You on phone or Desktop?ย  Desktop FireFox here, and it's only highlight-Selecting my own text, not your quote.ย  Seeing as how I don't mistakes in my replies I'll never need this feature.

The P seems to reflect the HTML tags being used to format/manage your text. ย Bold or italicize something and place your cursor on that text, and it will change. Increase the font size and you get a span.

I guess it makes sense if you are producing content.

@red_ogre which is weird because it's on my desktop AND mobile. In fact, both have all the same features and layout. I just used the arrow (or well, I guess a right triangle of dots) to expand the reply window on my phone.

And no, I don't know why the P is there.ย

I have read through this thread and I can say confidently that the Fwoosh forum has not changed one iota. 🤣ย

I'm grown up enough to admit that it just happens sometimes when you get older.

Anyone have ideas about how to make the forum run better on mobile? Anything I can do on my end? I have to click on thread titles at least three times before anything happens. And it takes approximately 9 seconds for things to load correctly anytime I try to open any thread. Seems like different parts of the forum continue to load at different speeds. For example, one timeI clicked the reply button, but the forum interpreted that as me trying to report someone elseโ€™s post.ย
