@akajohima My condolences for your fandom. 😁
As much a I hate to say it, as long as Pickett progresses, I think the Steelers fan nish 2nd in the AFCN and make the playoffs over the Ravens. I could see them getting in over the Chargers.
Haha, here's hoping Steelers and Bengals are top two in the division. I don't really care about being number one right now, as long as they have a good year. And can we at least agree that it could be worse- at least neither of us are Browns fans. 🙂
A lot of people think the Browns can win the division this year. Watson better turn back into a real NFL QB first.
The more I look at my NFC South pick, the less I like it. There's really no good option, though. I don't trust Ridder or Atlanta's pass rush. I don't like New Orleans because of the coaching situation. Tampa is off the table. Then my Panthers have big holes in the roster and a question mark at head coach.
Was wondering if you were gonna root a little Seahawks now that you live in the area TSI. The Seahawks are the team I root against the hardest because they are my team's biggest division rival... but they aren't the team I hate the most because the Cowboys and Raiders exist.
And I have to say that Lumen Field is pretty nice. Went there last season to watch my nephew play and that's a great venue.
And I agree that with the Cardinals actively tanking and the Rams pushing the reset button on their roster, and with the lack of quality in the NFC South and huge question marks in the NFC North - it's almost impossible for Seattle to miss the playoffs barring something catastrophic (but I can still wish for that 😉 )
It's an odd one. I grew up in Florida as a Panther fan, so I'm used to rooting for an out-of-state team. When I was in DC, I adopted the Capitals and Nationals, and I've since done the same for the Mariners and Kraken here. When the Sonics come back, I'll adopt them as well.
The Seahawks aren't my team or even my "second team," but I do half-heartedly root for them if given the chance. Being a transplant is its own weird social experiment.
It's funny that you want the Seahawks to crumble. I think neutrals like me are pining for the return of the Niners/Seahawks rivalry. Those Harbaugh/Carroll battles were among the best games I've ever watched.
Can you win the Super Bowl with one weapon? The Chiefs are going to try to find out this year.
sigh... Apparently the ownership group of my local fox affiliate is fighting with DirecTV and isn't being carried by the provider. This has been going on for two months or so, but I didn't care. Now, though it means I don't get to watch my 49ers. I don't want to pay for SundayTicket on YouTube.. (DirecTV had been throwing it in for free for the last few years).. So frustrating that I don't get to watch my team play.

Ha, true dat!
Bengals looking putrid so far, and guessing the Steelers not looking good either based on the score.
The big winners of the weekend have to be the 49ers, Dolphins, and Cowboys.
Green Bay looked good, too, but it's only Chicago.

Yep, our teams stunk it up yesterday. Here's hoping to a turnaround for both teams next week (hope the Steelers get revenge on the Browns on your behalf, and you guys can beat the 49ers on Oct 29). Fair trade, haha.

Yep, it was painful watching as a Steelers fan, but @panthercult must be happy- the 49ers played like a SB team. Purdy is the real deal.
I almost included the Browns, but they can't win a Super Bowl with Watson going 16/29 for 154 yards and 1 TD/1 INT, right?
Yeah... I watched as much as I could from alternate sources and will watch the replay on NFL Network this week (assuming it gets one) - but the Niners looked pretty solid. Defense played well and should have had a third interception but Warner couldn't squeeze it. And that was with Bosa playing at maybe 50%.
I will say this - TJ Watt is a beast. What was he credited with - 3.5 sacks? The guy is a beast. Honestly the Steeler's defense wasn't the problem and played pretty well (minus the tackling on the long McCaffrey run) - but man that offense...
and I was happy to see Seattle take a beat down at home - that's always nice. And then some weird results. Like nobody deserved to win in the Raiders/Broncos game, or in the Saints/Titans game. All of those teams looked like garbage.
The Cowboys defense looks legitimately scary - though I want to see them against an offense that isn't the Giants. That New York defensive line looked like crepe paper.
And I felt bad for my son yesterday. Just a couple of stumbles against a Falcons team that I don't believe is actually better. The Falcons QB looks like a project for sure, though their rookie RB looks legit. And then both Tampa and New Orleans win games they probably should have lost so Carolina is the only team in the division that took an L. He was pretty grumpy yesterday afternoon.
Tonight's game should be interesting. So much hype around Rodgers - now to see if he can truly elevate that Jets squad.

Welp.
Condolences to any Jets fans.
Yeah... that was brutal. 4 snaps. It's such a shame because the Jets roster is really good everywhere but a couple O-line spots and now QB. A healthy Rodgers would have elevated that offense... we've seen what this looks like with Wilson. Oof.
Man - if the Niners can take down the Rams on Sunday they'll have sole ownership of first place in the division already. Crazy.
This weeks games are almost upon us too...
Thursday's match up between the Eagles and Vikings looked good on paper based on last year's standings - but the Vikings looked bad last Sunday and while the Eagles didn't look incredible - they are going to cook Minnesota.
Hoping the Seahawks take a beating on the road in Detroit. Really hoping the Lions aren't feeling themselves too much after stealing the opener and don't have a let down against Seattle.
Chiefs/Jags should be interesting. Revenge mode KC could mean trouble for Jacksonville
And it will be interesting to see if the Cardinals tank job can be successful at home against a Giants team that got embarrassed on Sunday.
Can't wait.
I wouldn't be so sure about the Vikings/Eagles matchup. Bradberry is out with a concussion and Minnesota's receivers are terrifying. I know the Vikings were big-time overachievers last year, but they still should've beaten TB. I think the game will at least be close.
Are we sure KC's roster is that much better than Jacksonville's? I like the Chiefs on Sunday, but I don't know if that would be the case in a potential playoff game. Mahomes is definitely the best QB in the league, but Burrow, Lawrence, Herbert, and Allen aren't far behind.
Yeah... the lack of Kelce last Thursday really highlighted how poor KC's receiver corps is. Mahomes is great but if the dudes he's throwing to can't catch it - it isn't much use. Meanwhile Tyreek Hill out in Miami making Tua look like an MVP candidate. Maybe KC should have found a way to pay him.
The Vikings stink, man. Their record last year was a complete mirage as their scoring differential attested to. They probably should have finished 11-6 or 10-7 last season rather than 14-3. Cousins was bothered by Tampa's pass rush last game and the Bucs got nothing on Philly in that department. Cousins will be lucky to leave that game healthy. Minnesota's receivers are legitmately awesome but I don't think Cousins will have time to find them. I think the Eagles win by at least two scores.
