Don't give us what you think we want, or what you think is cool, when we're yelling at you with what we want and throwing fits about it.

A statement worth repeating, in hopes TPTB hear it. It's the blatant ignoring of fan wants and wishes that I think erodes interest the most - that one character missing, etc. If you have 20 versions you want to sell me - okay, good luck - but could you also include the one we've been asking for as well?

The problem is the exclusive contracts.  Another company could make a mainstream DC line in the 6.5” scale with virtually no overlap with what McFarlane is doing.   If anything, it would probably help McFarlane’s sales because it would generate more interest in collecting in general.

It’s crazy to me how small of a percentage of McFarlane figures I buy compared to the total output.  I wish I was buying over 50 a year,  but I doubt I’ve bought 50 over the last four years.

I agree that it’s not just McFarlane, though.  It seems like every mass market adult collector line that relies on big box stores for the majority of their sales has gone whack.

I'm buying fewer and fewer McFarlane mainstream figures because so much of it is a repeat of what I've bought through the years from other companies. I went from collecting all the (source material-accurate) Batman-related figures he released to buying very little (in the main line especially). Do I need another Green Lantern Batman or Balent Catwoman if it's not much better than the version DCD made a decade or more ago? My shelf space keeps telling me "no."

Now when Todd doesn't something new like a different version of Batwing, Lock-Up and Condiment King, accurate Batman & Robin movie figures, or The New Adventures of Batman figures, I'm all over them. But I'm even passing on figures like Kingdom Come Batman these days because I don't know if I need a slightly better version, especially with increasing prices and so much sculpt reuse.

I ordered a couple of Captain Carrot via Target (they were limiting to 2).  Lucked out and got one chase and one regular.  Most likely will return the regular version.

I remember the title Captain Carrot and the Zoo Crew from way back in the day.  Decided to briefly look it up to refresh my memory.  Now I really want a Yankee Poodle.  I'm sure it'll never happen though.

Alot of negativity with the line these days; speaking as someone who started collecting again after a decade off, I'm fully in on this line.  I get it can be difficult to get certain pieces but, again not to be that guy but speaking as a UK collector, it's been like that since day one.  It is what it is.

This definitely isn't a line you're expected to be a completist with, hell even Todd has said this!

To bring light, I'm stoked for Steel and to get my hands on Red Tornado and Animal Man at the end of the month.  Still teetering on the Owlman since I have the CS one, but the blue look is so damn nice.

Amids all of this negativity I'm going to share that I finally got my hands on the stealth variant of the Stealth Suit Aquaman (basically the only figure from that movie I'm buying) and I gotta say, it's SUCH a solid toy. Sculpt, engineering, paints. Like, just pure hand candy. Great job, Todd and co.

I have to agree and I was quite surprised that I like this figure as much as I do. I actually think it's my favorite figure McF DCM figure of the year just ahead of Captain Carrot. I bought a couple of extras when they hit $5.99 on clearance at Target. I usually don't like movie figures, but this one is really solid.

While I won't say that I'm all in on this line, I have bought at least one version of every character that Todd has produced so far in the line. I'll be honest and say that I still prefer Mattel's DC Universe Classics significantly more, but that's to be expected because I have a much larger collection of those and strongly prefer that scale (and they scale with Legends better, which is the primary line that I collect). I have figures from that Mattel line that I'm pretty sure that Todd will never do, no matter how long he has the license. However Todd has made some real winners with my absolute favorites being Frankenstein, Frost King, Ghost-Maker, Godspeed, Atomic Skull, Abyss, Captain Carrot, Storm, Grifter, Heat Wave and the Bat-Raptor. I'll continue to buy, but I really doubt that I'll ever like this line as much as liked Mattel's line. I still really wish that Todd had stayed at the 6" scale, but I fully understand why he wanted to start at a new scale and not "compete" with figures from the past on peoples' shelves.

As far as pricing, I don't believe that the $40 price point for the Infinite Crisis figures will be the new normal (yet), but we all knew that pricing would increase. I'm pretty sure that McFarlane likely lost money on this line those first couple of years in an effort to establish it's presence on retails shelves. Even for a private company that doesn't have to answer to shareholders that's still just not sustainable in the long run.

I found a lone Owlman at Walmart. He rang up as Waverider - a Target exclusive.

Hi, first post in this forum. I have been following it for years, but lately has been a drag with all the negativity. Hopefully, with all the people quitting the line because of the "price increase" , it becomes an enjoyable read again. I loved how some posters overcome the obvious limitations of the line and with a little bit of paint or a metallic marker made the product more enjoyable.

We need a sightings thread. I can't make heads or tails of their distribution. Some guy on reddit found Owlman in Tulsa last week, but no sign down in Austin. Nevermind that neither him or Vampire Robin has shown up for retail on .com.

Finished my Supergirl

Marvel Select Invisible Woman head, hair from Batman and Robin Batgirl, legs from Suicide Squad Harley Quinn and the skirt from a DC DCeased Supergirl figure. Painted everything up and sealed it.

This definitely isn't a line you're expected to be a completist with, hell even Todd has said this!

Todd's completist statement was in regards to the line having multiple inspirations for source material (comics, video games, movies, etc.) which means there is something for every fan. Not that his figures would be difficult to find. I'm sure most items are easier to find in the USA than the UK, so we are spoiled as is, but I digress...

To each their own, but the chase variants have caused me to reach my breaking point. I could deal with the price hikes if that were the only issue, but making desired figures artificially scarce is a slap in the face to the people that support your product. The damn card for Steel is the chrome colored platinum version. They know exactly what they are doing, and I've just had enough of it.

I'm not going to spend hours of time, constantly refreshing multiple websites or driving around aimlessly, to collect toys. It's draining. I love these characters and really like a lot of the 1970s/1980s classics, but even cherry picking those is a chore at this point.

To be honest, I think it's because of Todd that I find myself irrationally upset about plastic. In every interview he does, he starts spouting off about how McFarlane Toys is so much different than the big corporations that milk every dollar for public shareholders. Their actions show that they are very much the same as what they criticize.

Batfleck looks great and will be an instant order.  No interest in BatBale but never have been a fan of the Nolanverse in all honesty

@ninjak feel the same.  I am waiting until February or so to order however.  If they're gone, that would suck, but I think it will be alright.  I am somewhat waiting on news for the 40th Anniversary Transformers HasLab - I have all the others and love Transformers so I would like to budget.  Then there's LooseCollector with the Extreme Universe.  That could be, or rather should/will be a huge deal for me.  Could prompt commissioning a figure from someone too.

So I would like those dominoes to fall before splurging on McFarlane right now, even though this wave looks damn strong.  Like Xavion said, 1/3 of the purchases were mistakes and I think we all know better at this point.  I saw Red Tornado yesterday, and he looks fine, but honestly the DCUC one is better.  More dynamic and heroic sculpt with more paint.  McFarlane doesn't sculpt heroic proportions well, the lats are too narrow on most releases.  So I can see why sales off.  But some of the other figures are dynamite, it's just odd.

DCUC is better?!?!

I don’t see how you could actually think that

Here is platinum Steel, perfectly chrome and comic accurate:

Honestly, I feel very done with this line. I dealt with cheap re-use…sucked up price hikes for characters I wanted…but I am just done with them playing games with loyal customers. Over and over again, it’s hard to see this stuff and not believe that they know exactly what they’re doing with this platinum chase crap, or with that MTS exclusive line.

You know what sucks? Wondering if I should get that platinum Captain Carrot for $60 from an eBay scalper or never own one. McFarlane has legitimately taken the joy out of collecting this line.

what is this accurate too? I always remember him with a red cape?
