What if this was not a Target exclusive and more of a test wave for more gold label exclusives being offered at Mcf online store?  The store is not as big as Walmart or Target online so the lower production numbers and higher price point. Well whatever the case, those collectors edition really soured me on the line. Gonna wait for sales or just do without at this point.

I get people don't want to pay $40, but it was most likely the Target wave and then economies of scale affect price.  They could have just said "fuck the whole thing" and it winds up being a story in someone's Blog 5 years from now - "The McFarlane Toys we almost got."  Ignorant people just spout off "PRICE INCREASE" and like, no that's not what's fucking happening.  I always liked this board because people here are more knowledgeable and reasonable.  But the socials just jump to conclusions.  I remember the KS 4 years ago, I seriously think people expected to get Spawn like a month after paying for it.  People apparently have no idea how manufacturing works yet still have opinions they think are facts.

The rest of the BAF waves will normal priced.  I would be fine with niche stuff at this price maybe 1-2 times a year.  With the discount it's not bad - just the shipping.  There's a lot of new tooling here and they look good so will get the bundle and use the code.

Yeah I mentioned that before too.  If there's new tooling I don't hate it, but only am on board if Spawn gets waves on MTS as well.  Like retro stuff done like the Kickstarter.  I would pay $50 for that is it's as good.  DC should be able to be sold in stores most of the time.

I pick and choose Mcfarlanne DC figures. I generally don’t care for the proportions and varying scale of the line.  However, his new Wonder Woman figure is possibly the best representation of the character I’ve ever owned. It cost too much and the card holder as mentioned in other posts is stupid.  I wish he’d release more classic versions of characters. I get that Batman sells, but that’s what’s clogging the pegs at all the wal marts in my area.

I had the same initial reaction most other collectors did, but once I calmed down and actually did the math using the PUNCH15 discount code, the bundle works out to $28.70 per figure.

You don’t HAVE to choose between buying these figures and refusing to support a $40.00 per figure price point.  Collectors who are buying the bundle aren’t sending McFarlane the message that it’s okay to charge $40.00 per figure before tax and shipping.   They’re sending McFarlane the message that it’s okay to charge $28.70 (15% discount code) to $30.38 (10% discount code) per figure before tax and shipping.  I think that particular cat has been out of the bag for a while now.

Now if you only want one or two figures from the wave and don’t want to go through the hassle of selling the other two or three on eBay, then I feel your pain. You’re paying $34.00 (15% discount code) to $36.00 (10% discount code) per figure before tax and shipping, and that sucks.

Between the $25 right off the top on the bundle and how quickly Spectre sold out, I’m guessing that McFarlane is trying even harder than usual to funnel sales toward full sets and away from individual figures, and has allocated the stock accordingly.   That would seem to fit in with the Target theory as now McFarlane has to bear the inventory cost of the slower selling figures themselves.

As far as this setting a precedent goes, I don’t think that’s going to happen.  I don’t think the reason we’re here is because too many collectors are willing to pay $40 for this level of quality.   I think the reason we’re here is because too many collectors aren’t willing to pay $25 to $30 for this level of quality, and this is just the first example of a mass market retail toy line manufacturer scrambling to recover their investment as the big box stores start saying “No, thank you.”.

The ironic thing as I type this is that I’ve never been particularly fond of the way McFarlane has handled the DC license in general.  He just happened to hit the right note with me on this assortment because I’m a sucker for Geoge Perez era DC.

Just got my third delay notice from Target for my Wonder Woman pre-order. (At 4:01 AM).

I remember those weekly Friday delay notices.

WW was on BBTS a few hours ago, but I missed her.  Oh well.

It is what it is, but I'm annoyed because I went right over to buy Spectre, but the price of just one figure in this wave plus tax & shipping is just insane.  Could've do it, but he's a character I'd love to get on the shelf in this scale.  Still one of my favorite DCUC figures.

Personally I'm actually OK with this and kind of hope this becomes a regular, or even like a twice a year deal.  Smaller production numbers, only available on the one site and using characters that might not sell as well on the pegs.

I'm more interested in those comic B-Z list heroes so it's music to my ears.  I wanna see this continue if it means it can give us a Red X, a Tom Strong/Terrifics wave,  Nighthawk, Black Condor/Freedom Fighters wave.

And has been stated, with discount codes added it takes it down to a manageable cost.  I get the initial shock but we know its not going forward at this price now.

How are y'all making "PUNCH15" work? I try it ever time, and every time it gets denied. "MTS10" works, but never the other.

@casimir  I setup an order just to check, and the system will no longer allow me to use the PUNCH15 code either, although I did read that it’s a one time use only.   Did you setup an account or try to place your order as a guest?  If you’ve never used it before, and you tried to check out as a guest, maybe it will work if you setup an account.  They probably want to track usage of it.

Either that or they deactivated it, which would speak volumes about how uptight they are about the cost they have tied up in this wave.

Same.  I’m trying to tighten the belt on figure purchases this year by separating the “REALLY wants” from the “wants”, and Spectre was the “REALLY want” in this wave.  Not even two weeks into the year, and I’m already in for a full wave of figures.  To be honest though, it’s more of a “Gee, I guess I’m going to have to get the whole wave.  Darn.” type of thing, because I do want the other three.

This bodes poorly for the only McFarlane figures I was thinking I'd have to buy this year when Todd puts them out: Kingdom Come. You know he's going to do something like this for KC figures, probably some of the very same figures: Superman, Spectre, Wally Flash, and Captain Marvel. The build a figure will be GL or BB since they're armored characters. The head sculpt for Superman will probably be just as off-model as the one on this "Earth-Two Superman."

Super Powers is so far the only McFarlane product I'm interested in, and I'm strongly considering getting into vintage Super Powers and selling the McFarlane stuff except for the vehicles.

I have my doubts there's an exclusive KC wave this year.  I can't see them doing something like this again soon unless it's Spawn which makes sense.  I think this execution could bode well for story specific stuff honestly - get solid core of the story in one shot and these are good figures, not much reuse and accurate.  They're not NECA good, but with the code they're not NECA priced.

The bigger issue is there's no plan(??)  I can understand stuff like this happening in response to retailers saying "No."  What I don't sympathize with is the lack of cohesion. 2 years ago there was a DKR wave and we haven't gotten a thing since. No Mutant Leader, Sons of Batman, Ollie, yellow/blue etc.  No more KC figures.  Nothing with Titans or Blackest Knight. They don't finish anything.  There's so many reasons why they're in this position right now.

See I kinda want to see waves outside of story-specific stuff, more akin to the Mattel stuff.  But I'm in the the line for character range, though I'm waiting for the TDKR blue Batman and Mutant Leader and modern comic Blue Beetle PPs to be upscaled which will come sooner or later surely.

For me the line is doing exactly what I want however I know the upcoming Batman-barrage (Rebirth, Owls, 1939, BvS, BAF Plas wave) is gonna be hefty.  Wanna get more leaks and get an idea of what to expect in the next round of GL exclusives along with CE4.

Has anyone else seen the Stealth Suit Aquaman with Toro with his hair up? I saw one at a Target while away for Christmas and it looked good - but I haven't seen it on Ebay or mentioned since.

Is that a known variant?

so sad todd... so sad...

That about sums it up.  I feel like I should be ranting, but I don't know what else there is to say.

I find myself thinking less about this wave and more about potential stuff that I WOULD want from Todd and wondering, "Would I pay this"?  Thankfully the list is short.  Like "I-Only-Want-Batman-Forever-Figures" short.  Besides that, I think I'm going to quietly walk way.

A $15 hike.......

I have a whole box of DCUC......

Agreed, I don't collect much of the regular McFarlane stuff outside of the Batman: Knightfall figures and hoping on a Batman Forever wave, but if these are going to be $40 each as well I will definitely skip it
