Was posting something similar to the above, but itβs said in better words than I wrote. Just give me a wave of the Batman Forever main 4 with a Batman & Robin Bane as the BAFβ¦and weβre out!
I really like his B&R wave and no other company is going to touch the Schumacher stuff.Β They'll do Keaton, Bale, Afleck, and Pattinson all day long, but Kilmer and Clooney are the ugly ducklings of the Batman movies.Β I feel Todd is our only hope for them.Β Β
Come to think of it, even at $40 each, that's still cheaper than what any potential alternative would be given that you'd be talking about either Mezco or high end import companies.Β Ugh, we're just screwed.

So McFarlane exclusive? $36 each more or less with 10% off. Don't think I can tolerate the Teen Titans on adult bodies if that is the standard going forward and makes me want to sell my Changeling on that adult body now.
Just saw the news about the $40 dollar increase for BAF figures. thats crazy but whatever. Dont like the way supes looks, monitor looks weird with that modern hairstyle and not into kid flash. the only one i do like is Psycho Pirate but wanna see reviews before i buy, maybe. The price hike doesnt bother me though.
So this is the best Superman in my opinion (from Todd) and I LOVE they actually gave him the right S-shield.Β First time since AC1000 it matched.Β It's a really good new body I think.Β I had a feeling this was the Target wave, too bad if they backed out.Β I don't think this a price hike - it's an unexpected exclusive on MTS and they had to compensate.Β We'll see. If regular build-a-figure waves at retail see this price jump though I'm out unless it's amazing.
Β
I'm down for MTS exclusives at this price if it's good.Β The Spawn figures could be sold at $40-50 and if they're the quality of the Kickstarters then it'd be amazing. Plus I love story-themed waves.Β Earth 2 Superman was part of the Page Punchers Wave, wonder if that's split up.Β Really wanted that wave.Β Superman: Legacy isn't out until 2025 and those waves usually align themselves with the films.Β So maybe that's why it got pushed back.Β Those are fun.

Man, that's a bummer. Been wanting a proper Psycho Pirate figure for a long while now, but even with the 10% off coupon, the shipping has never been great at MTS. Altogether, that's just too dang high for one figure sans accessories. Even if I tried to offload the BAF piece, since I don't really care about the character, methinks it would still be too much. Maybe Todd will inadvertantly help me with my 2024 goal to behave a little bit more with spending. 🤣Β
Granted I'm ignorant about the details of these deals and such -Β Β but I don't for a minute believe that Target was going to charge $40 each for a wave of McFarlane exclusive figures....Β I could see the $30 or even $32 price tag because it's exclusive, but not $40 each.Β Β And there is absolutely no way Todd was charging Target anywhere near the retail asking price.Β Β So now that he's selling them direct why should the price go up?Β
Β
I guess maybe these were tooled and ready to run when Target canceled their order and so they ran a much lower number of the figures than they were going to make for Target?Β Β If that's the case I guess I can see how he'd feel the need to charge more per figure to make the same money.Β Β Β
Β
But from a consumer perspectiveΒ these guys cost double what a McFarlane figure cost just two years ago.Β Β So exclusive or not its hard to see the value.
Could certainly be a smaller run.Β Or they could have run and been housed somewhere and now have to be housed elsewhere?Β Storage costs money.Β Or they felt they could get away with it and are trying it out.
I didn't buy Abyss (who I'd really like!) at $30 as I didn't see the value there compared to the $20 releases. So this wave is an immediate pass for me at $40, even if I needed any of these characters.
I'm glad I'm excited about the "value" lines like Super Powers and '66, as I'm buying less and less of the base line the more the prices go up.
It's crazy how bad these figures look at $40. Unreal the amount of reuse going on at this price point.
Although, even if these were fully unique tooling, $40 would still be far too much.
I have to hand it to McFarlane. Β No other company has come close to the number of different ways that the Toddfodder has found to make me pass on buying figures of some of my favorite characters. Β I immediately followed the link in the e-mail to place my preorder and was stopped butt cold when I saw those prices.
Β The price hike doesnt bother me though.
Β
It must be nice to have infinite money for you hobbies 😉Β

If this is indeed based on Wally from Crisis on Infinite Earths then this is after he retired as Kid Flash and went to college (after he found out his speed was killing him again). On top of that almost immediately after The Crisis he was The Flash so I think this body is more than appropriate for a college-aged young adult Kid Flash.
Β I don't think this a price hike - it's an unexpected exclusive on MTS and they had to compensate.Β We'll see.
The more I think about it, the more I wonder if this isn't the case.Β I mean, this is an absolutely bonkers hike, almost TOO bonkers.Β I don't know, man, we'll have to wait and see what other waves are priced at.Β Β
Β
Saw in a Facebook group that Todd announced a livestream tomorrow. I wonder if itβs to directly address the price hike for these, or just a general announcement for multiverse.
Even as a limited run, the amount of re-use should cut down on costs so these arenβt $40. Monitor looks to be completely new, but Psycho Pirate and Wally are nearly 100% reuse, with Spectre sharing some parts from Martian Manhunter. I canβt tell if Superman is using Knightfall Batman legs (except for calves) but it looks to have similar wrinkles on the thigh.
