How did Rob Liefeld lose the rights to his own characters that he created? How could he not own those outright?

When he worked for Marvel or Image Comics they hold the rights.

That’s actually not what happened with Liefeld’s Image stuff. As I understand it, he spilt certain rights with one, then two business partners (Rosenberg and Hyde) around when Awesome comics was formed, one of whom then sold their subset to a kinda shady guy (Rev) years later. Rob could still publish the comics, but things like movie rights and maybe merchandise went to those people. Liefeld stepped away from the Youngblood comics when he learned about this shady guy due to creative/personality differences.

So Rob controls a third, he still gets along fine with the second guy (Hyde), and its the fourth guy (Rev) who bought the rights off the third guy (Rosenberg) who controls Youngblood.

All of this drama is because people were trying to capitalize off of the potential for the properties to be made into movies or tv shows for a long time.

@endzeit4 Image was literally built on the idea that creators retained the rights to their stuff.

Anybody been able to pre-order the new Nightwing figure anywhere? I know it was available at BBTS and MTS and sold out pretty quickly. It's available on Entertainment Earth, but I heard it never even went live on Amazon or GameStop. Any confirmation on that? Was anyone able to order one from anywhere besides BBTS or MTS, or EE?

I'm curious because even Wonder Woman didn't sell out this fast. I didn't really think this would be that hard to get. Hoping there's still a chance to pre-order somewhere besides EE because I never bought from them before and I don't really want to sign up at yet another online retailer.

I just jumped right in lol So far the chrome looks alright on the diaper and shoulder pads but I haven't moved them yet. I'm gonna give it some more time and then seal it with a gloss sealant and hope for the best.

In the meantime, finished my Ivy:

In my search for suitable PP Superman hands (for a custom I'm doing), someone suggested the TDKR Supes ones. I myself am using a set of fists from ML Netflix Luke Cage.

And it that thread I mentioned all those properties have the insane designs you'd expect from Liefeld.  They will be cool and certainly look like other things at least.  I don't know if there's any hope LC could work with the asshole who holds Youngblood hostage.

As for DC, Nightwing looks nice actually.  That BB body is solid I think. Hope he shows New52 Batman soon.

I'd suggest getting (possibly another) Superman/Ultraman 2 pack.

You get 10 hands in a variety of poses and it regularly goes for around $30, which is worth it if you were going to buy lots of hands anyway.

Sounds like a good idea for the future, although I really don't need another Infected buck, even for free.

Stealing the pink power effect use! 🙂 What else did you do to her? You red-ded her hair, chromed her leaves - anything else? Looks fantastic. I'm so ready for this figure, stupid Target backorder!!

Holey moley...I am BACK!

*pauses for applause*

It took me months after the site's last crash to realize that the only way I could register again was to drop the uppercase letters from my screenname. Why that was necessary at all is beyond me...but here I am. BACK!

Hello my friends 🙂

You did a beautiful job on this figure - please detail how you repainted her. I'm very curious.

Also, how does she scale next to the Mattel Lynda Carter Wonder Woman? A photo would be terrific 🙂 I mean, I'm guessing she's waaaay too big (thanks Todd) but figured, as a female character, maybe there's a slim chance she stands just short enough to blend in with the previous Multiverse Movie line.

It seems to me a lot of folks here don't like to hear/read anything negative about McFarlane's DC stuff. That's fine, and if you don't care for it, you might want to stay off social media and other places where discussion is encouraged. Sharing opinions, even criticism, is part of discussion.

It also seems there are some folks who want to shut others down for sharing a different opinion than their own. That's not fine, and you should also go elsewhere if you're that insecure in your own opinions. I've been here since 2009 and have seen it all. I still visit because I want to read what everyone's thinking, including opinions I don't share. There have been times people have replied to my own criticisms (or praises) and I've reconsidered my own position. That's why forums exist.

I also believe that customers have a right to express their feelings about a product. Hopefully, some of the people at McFarlane and other companies see the legitimate concerns and take note. It doesn't seem like it currently, but that's just my opinion. I think a lot of folks here and elsewhere feel that DC Multiverse has been coasting for some time. I hope that's going to change in the new year. If not, I'll be focusing on other lines. Super Powers rarely disappoints and there are other lines that I can spend money on that are more consistent in overall quality.
