Complaining is a thing, though at the end of the day I don't really get it; you're not forced to buy these, and of course they aren't perfect but they are far from bad.  Now yes I was super disappointed with Black Lightning's base choice, and I was bummed about Midnighter having grey trousers and yeah I was a tad put off when Waverider was based on Convergence rather the 90s BUT I got them all and you know what; they all look great and give me what I'm wanting in this line which is as many comic heroes as possible no matter how obscure.

Batzarro is the latest to tip me back a bit but I know full well I'll be ordering from my guys in HK to ensure I get the set ASAP!

The big question now for me is, what does next year hold.  We should be seeing the next Target year long BAF set in the coming weeks, I imagine we see the JL BAF wave soon too along with the next MegaFigs.  I just want more product, this past year I feel it just sorta stalled here and there with too much focus on huge waves (The Flash) or vehicles (again...The Flash).  We're due Doom Patrol surely, most likely more Authority or atleast an Apollo, I'd say Cyborg is a surefire too, maybe a Detective Chimp in a Collectors Edition wave?  Come on Todd, there's so many characters from the last few years we need.

Not to mention the BvS Batfleck, cause surely they go all out and give us all 3 looks, would genuinely surprise me if they didn't.

One thing I'm sure we will see next year is a 4 figure wave for the Suicide Squad game

I have to push back on this line of thinking a little bit.   "You're not forced to buy these"  -  OK that's true.  But I LOVE DC Comic book characters and want action figures of them and - unfortunately for me -  this is the only game in town.    If there were 4 different companies making different kinds of DC action figures - like there is right now with TMNT for example -  then I could spend my money on the version I liked best and wouldn't feel the need to complain about the other offerings.

But for people who want DC Characters for their action figure collection McFarlane is basically the only option and if you aren't satisfied with what he's producing, shutting up and not buying doesn't help you get the figures you want.    Complaining at least could have an impact.

And I get it.  If you like what's happening on the figure front then other people being upset by it isn't what you want to interact with.   I understand that.   But it doesn't mean the people complaining don't love DC Characters and don't want figures that they could love.     And this is the discussion forum for those people to discuss too.

For me personally I don't want any DC figure in 7 inch scale at all, so McFarlane could never satisfy me unless he just totally decided to scale down by an inch.     For the most part I stay out of DC figure conversations because I know I can't and won't get what I want while McFarlane has the license.    But I still love DC characters and I love action figures and so I still read this thread and will still occasionally participate in the conversation.    At the end of the day thats what the forums are for - all forms of discussion about these figure lines.

@panthercult I feel for you. That's where those of us who collect 1:10 found ourselves for the entire run of DCUC, with only some good 1:10 scale stuff occasionally from DCC. And then when DCC announced Icons, it was pretty depressing.

I opened my Batman and Robin figure set and they are a lot of fun.  If you're on the fence about these for any reason, I recommend.

My intention all along was to hit Freeze with a chrome paint pen, now I'm not so sure.......

Bring on the Batman Forever wave!

@yojoebro82 They're a ton of fun, really glad to have them in my collection. I decided to chrome Freeze so I'm doing it bit by bit while touching up Poison Ivy. Hopefully the end results will be worth it lol

At the risk of repeating myself, there's a lot I do genuinely like about the line. Steel looks fantastic and I can't wait to add him to my Justice League display.

If it comes off like I'm overly-critical, it's because I've seen what this line can do when it's firing on all cylinders, which makes issues like the character selection (still my single biggest complaint 3 years in). I dunno. Maybe Marvel Legends or even the previous iteration of Multiverse under Mattel (for all its many, many other flaws) spoiled me on that front. I'm not a jackass though, so I don't begrudge people who do find more that appeals to them. If it's not for me, that's just money saved.

... But I'd like to be spending more money on these, is the thing.

The DC superheroes will always be my utmost favorites and collecting them in action figure form has always been my top priority. That said I find myself buying alot less with Mac currently. I think I am only buying that classic Wonder Woman and maybe that classic Superman. The majority of the style and direction are not for me. For those that like it, cool. Hope you guys keep getting what you want. I will be just cherry-picking even moreso than last year.

I have the Freeze BAF Wave on preorder thru Amazon it has kept its Dec 13th date this whole time. This is my first time buying any sort of DC or McFarlane figure. Do they typically stick to this date?

Not often. McFarlane figures end up getting 1-4 weeks delays on Amazon, whereas Hasbro figures get bumped up 4-8 weeks.

I told myself up and down that I was going to chrome Freeze as well, I've tested it out on some other toys with success.  Looking at Freeze in hand, he's better than online pics....do I want' to leave well enough alone or take the plunge?  The only thing I worry about is his rubbery diaper and his shoulder pads.  Not sure how the Molotow paint will stick to those.

RE: complaining

This isn't the same line we had 2-3 years ago.  Mostly every figure had a new sculpt and was accurate to the source material.  Now it's terrible reuse that just doesn't work and figures come with trading cards making the figure's inaccuracies only more glaring.  It's just.....not fun.  The consistent part is that the sculpts might be oddly proportioned and overdesigned but now there's not enough good to overlook it.

Maybe 2024 has a bunch of bangers, I'm into the Spawn Anniversary stuff at the least.  But it just stopped being a line I invest in or get excited about.  I have my Transformers and that makes me happy in my geek world, but man did I once love superheroes. Loose Collector is making Extreme Universe figures...that's a big "Holy Shit!" moment for me so I probably will just go there from now on.

The more I look at things the more toy tragic it is that Dave Vonner's Batman never saw release.  Would have been a game changer I think.

Another strike against the line is that now you have many of the desirable releases getting a $10 price hike for a display stand for said trading cards that showcase the figures' inaccuracies.  (I might have bought that mostly reuse Action Comics #1 Superman for $20.....not $30).  You're right, this is not the line of 2-3 years ago.

I personally love the line and think it is better than it was 2-3 years ago. I feel the character selection has gotten a lot better and deeper. I think some of the newer base bodies-like Knightfall Batman and Blue Beetle are great and I would love if it was used a lot more. I love DC characters and my collection is growing nicely. I also love that I don't need to buy every figure if I don't want to build another figure. I enjoy ML's BAFs but buy quite few figures I don't want to build it sometimes. I don't know I am just not that critical of things that I enjoy as a hobby I guess. The only complaint I totally agree with is the scale issue. I wish they scaled together better like Legends tend to do but it doesn't stop me from enjoying the collection. If I didn't enjoy it more than a complaint I had I would just stop buying the line no matter how much I loved the characters. Yes it stinks that the collector editions are ten dollars more but unfortunately the $30 a figure price point for a basic figure I fear is coming no matter what.

See, from your post it's pretty clear that you're liking what the line's giving right now, which is a deeper character selection but based on a lot of reuse. For me, and some other people critical of the line right now, it felt much better when it delivered awesomely sculpted new bodies, even if they were used for variants of Batman or characters in modern costumes (which worked for me).
