“Brock Samson in Superman disguise” is not a crossover figure I expected. Looking forward to Rusty as Brainiac.
I don't care about anything except that Captain Carrot. That is going to be my favorite McFarlane figure ever. I hate that it's a $30 figure... but I love that so much.
Ugh Todd. It feels like a bad relationship I can't leave. I mean I have left, but you never really leave. Not entirely.
Carrot looks cool, good size, novel, but why do they refuse to make smooth muscular bodies? Like, no one has ever looked like that, but I guess that's the point. I don't always dislike textures, but I'm not feeling it as much as I once did. That these are $30 is ridiculous. Who the hell thinks Frank Miller Superman should be a base body??? Nobody. He has no respect for the source material. Just make a good new body that fits and you get like 10-20 figures off of it.
This really shouldn't be that hard. Still foolishly waiting for Page Punchers and Spawn to see how much I can justify too many missteps this year.
Bummed Green Lantern Batman isn't from the Elseworlds/Morrison GL issues but is instead the two-panel figure we already have from DCD. This wave is a pass for me, but I'm happy to see Captain Carrot being made. If they included the classic CC as a pack-in, that would totally justify the $30 price.
Why is Superman so thick?
So bad.
After the Return of Superman, didn’t he start to get stronger and larger due to the energy he absorbed during the fight against Mongul and Cyborg Superman?
It’s been so long since I’ve read those comics. I can’t recall. But I recall him splitting into blue Energy Superman, and then the red Energy Supes came along.
And did Parasite play a role in helping rid him of the excess energy?
I may be conflating things, or getting them out of order.
Short story: That body is ridiculously large.
I've wanted a Captain Carrot action figure for 41 years and this is what gets made. Yeesh.

Oh...! I bet that's the Platinum Chase. I thought it was too soon for another Sinestro Batman.

I totally get it... and yet, I still love it.

LOL, I'm trying. I've dropped the price on my McFarlane DC lot on ebay twice now.....still no takers.
I’m honestly just hoping that we’re getting new sculpts, because I’m having a hard time wrapping my head on some of their decisions. TDKR body for the Return of Superman? This could have been a perfect time to reuse the speeding bullet model, or heck a new one.
I’m wondering if Supergirl’s head will be too large for Poison Ivy.
I hope you're a better painter than I am. I'm just waiting for a decent redhead to come down the line that will look good swapped onto the body. Then there's the whole issue of whether the skintones match.

For 30 year old weekly comics, you're pretty spot on with your memory!
After he defeated Cyborg, he had some random adventures. Leading into the next big Superman event (Battle for / Fall of Metropolis), Superman did indeed start to grow larger and was losing control of his powers (which had become more powerful and unwieldy). It turned out when the Kryptonite radiation passed through the Eradicator, it altered his cells. They used Parasite at one point to try and siphon some of it off, which itself later led to a Parasite storyline around the Trial of Superman era.
A few years later, after Final Night, Superman was powerless and got married. He went on a trip to the Sun to try to jumpstart his cells, which weren't absorbing solar energy. The gambit worked, restoring his powers, but he eventually overloaded and his cells became electrified.
Ah, the 90's.
As for this figure, not only do the proportions look bad but even the color of the suit is wrong. Superman wore a lighter blue like this before his death, but after he came back his suit was a few shades of blue darker than it had been. All of this is to say - that's a lazy goddamn figure. Wrong body, wrong head, wrong color...can't wait to see how the hair looks in the back since it appears to be added on to an older head sculpt.
I can’t see any images of Captain Carrot with those dimples all over his body, is that in any of the comics?

Pretty sure that's just Todd adding his flavor to the character. I swear when I first saw it I was looking to see if it was some kind of Aquaman reuse or something because of the texture, but it seems like it's just Todd being Todd.

It vaguely works for my purposes as a Howard Porter JLA Superman. He was beefy there and his costume was a bit lighter and something about the funky middle of that S-symbol reminds me of how Porter drew it.
It's definitely flawed but Krypto's inclusion sweetens the deal enough for me although he'll get repartnered with the new Classic Superman after a surgical trunks swap.
It's fortunate that I'm just collecting a few specific JLA and JSA rosters.
I need pre-Crisis WW and Hal Jordan and 90s Aquaman and Wally West and Rebirth WW beyond what's been announced and I'll be fairly satisfied, I think.
